Hi everyone!

Once again most of the action takes place in the City Bar, no
cool-looking outdoor shots for me:-( , but here we go......

				THE CITY UPDATE
			   Thursday, August 22, 1996

TEMPERANCE
Starting location: Front hallway of the building

*Ally grabs the subpoena from Tony's hand, Tony can't go to jail! Tony
says that's exactly where he'll go if he doesn't turn the tapes over to
the Feds. Tony doesn't want to talk about it there, "you never know
who's listening", so they get in the elevator. Ally says that they're
going to figure something out. Tony replies that he has no idea what
he's going to do.

*(Upstairs in Ally's apartment) Tony wishes he'd never made the tapes
of Carla, then he wouldn't be in this mess. Ally can't believe this is
actually happening. Carla was really telling the truth, the FBI was
after her. And Rebecca is one of the Federal agents, working undercover
as a gallery owner, it's hard to believe. Rebecca was very smart, Tony
tells Ally. She used Tony to trap Carla and now she wants the tapes.
Ally wants to know what happens if they give the FBI the tapes. The FBI
will nail Carla, Tony replies. "Well, so what, who cares? She broke
the law, she's a big girl", says Ally. But Carla not only implicated
herself, she also implicated Tony's father and brother. Besides, if
Uncle Gino's guys find out that Tony gave information to the FBI,
they'll kill him. OK, Ally says, then we won't give them the tapes.
Tony holds up the subpoena, it's not just a subpoena, Tony tells her,
the Feds own him now. One way or another they'll get the tapes, they
won't quit until they do. The government has to realize the position
that they've put Tony in, they have to give Tony some sort of solution,
Ally complains. They did, but it means losing Ally forever.

*The government wants Tony to join the Witness Protection Program - new
identity, new life. Ally could come, but she couldn't see anyone from
the past, "not Alex, not Ava, not Kate, nobody". But she'd have Tony,
that's what is important, she tells him. "What about Tyler?", Tony
asks. He would come with us. Tony reminds her that Tyler could never
see Cooper, Steffi or his little sister ever again. Who would Tyler
blame more, Tony or Ally? And how long would it be before Ally starts
blaming Tony too. "I could never blame you, Tony, none of this is your
fault", Ally says. Tony's not saying all this to scare her, but she
need to know everything before she makes a choice. Is Ally willing to
share her future with him? She has to decide for herself.

*Ally is silent, she doesn't know what to say. Tony says he would
never allow her to give up everything to be with him. Tony can't leave
either, he couldn't start a new life without Ally. He'd "rather give
the tapes to the mob and take my chances". He's not going to give the
tapes to anyone right now. But that means that both the mob and the FBI
will be after him, he's going to end up in jail or dead, Ally reminds
him. He'll figure something out. Tony tears up the subpoena. He
promises Ally that everything is going to be OK and hugs her. He could
never leave her, he says. They kiss.

THE SUN
Location: The City Bar

*Richard and Zoey come in through the hallway entrance. "Last one to
the bar buys breakfast", Zoey shouts, already running before she even
says Go. Zoey wins. She cheated, Richard accuses. "All's fair in love
and Tag", she replies. She starts telling him what she wants to eat,
she's starving. Richard leads her over to a armchair over by the wall
and sits down with Zoey in his lap.

*Jacob, who's talking to Nick(see below) points out Richard and Zoey
kissing in the corner. They walk over to Jacob and Nick by the bar.
Nick asks if this is a "little detente in your personal Cold War"? "The
peace negotions went well", Zoey says. Just in time for them to cover
Nick's concert together, Richard adds. Nick reminds Zoey to stay up
front so she can hear the new song her wrote for Cassie's(Zoey's
mother) poem. Nick's dedicating it to Zoey, his daughter. "No, you
can't do that", Zoey tells him.

*Why doesn't Zoey want the song to be dedicated to her, is she ashamed
of her old man? "No, of course not", Zoey says. Nick likes the idea,
at the last concert she announced that he is her dad, this concert he
can tell everyone how proud he is of her. She wouldn't begrudge Nick
that chance, would she? Lorraine comes over and asks Nick if he would
go upstairs with her. They leave. Richard wants Zoey to tell him what
that was all about.

*Zoey's finishing her breakfast, Richard wants his explaination now.
Because Nick wants to dedicate the song to his daughter and she's not
his daughter, Zoey tells him. "Soon or later, everyone will know, along
with all the other lies." "What other lies?", Richard wants to know.
"After the concert is over, I swear, I'm spilling everything", Zoey
says. Richard wants to know what she's talking about, but gets
interrupted by his beeper. He has to go to the studio. "Everything
will be fine, I promise", Zoey says, with fingers crossed behind her
back. Richard leaves. "Everything will be fine, until you find out
that Nick is your father", Zoey says to herself.

THE MAGICIAN
Location: The City Bar

*Nick and Jacob come in through the front door. They're both very
excited, even Nick, because the rehearsal went great. They tell
Lorraine how wonderful the rehearsal was. Jacob teases Lorraine that
she had better spend a lot of time with Nick now, because soon the fans
and groupies are going to be all over Nick.

*Jacob's telling Lorraine about the rehearsal, they blew a fuse and the
lights went out, but the band just kept on playing. People were
crowding around just to hear Nick play. Nick says it felt really good.
Lorraine tells him it's just the beginning. Jacob points out Richard an
Zoey kissing in the corner. Nick wonders how they got back together.
Lorraine says that when Zoey wants something, there is no stopping her,
just like Zoey's father. Lorraine has to get back to work, but she has
something for Nick later. Zoe and Richard come over. (See above)

*Lorraine interrupts Nick, who's talking to Zoey and Richard (See
above). She'd like him to come upstairs with her.

*(Nick's apartment) Lorraine tells Nick to sit down on the couch and
shut his eyes. She comes out in a red dress for the concert tonight.
Nick obviously likes the dress, "Please tell me what I did to deserve
this so I can do it again". Lorraine just wanted him to be proud of her
tonight when she's in the audience with all of his screaming fans. "I'm
always proud of you" and the dress, "it's gorgeous", he tell her. But
he likes what's inside the dress even more. He kisses her neck, her
shoulder, then turns her around to kiss her on the lips.

*Lorraine and Nick are in bed. Lorraine tells him, "if that's any
indication of what you did in rehearsal today, you'll be just fine
tonight". She wants Nick to promise her that he won't forget about her
once all these groupies get to hear him sing tonight. He'll be great
tonight, she says. They kiss.

THE LOVERS
Location: The City Bar

*Tess is sitting alone at a table looking very tense. Buck brings her a
glass of orange juice and sits down. Tess apparently was talking to
Buck earlier about how bad it was in Corinth and how she never thought
she would be happy. Tess apologizes for mentioning it (because it
brings back memories of Stacy's murder). Buck tells her not to be
sorry, it reminded him that when someone you love dies, nothing makes
any sense, nothing seems to matter. Buck won't let anything happen to
Tess. He wants Tess to move in with him.

*So, Tess says, Buck wants her to move in and he'll be her bodyguard.
Just until the Masquerader is caught, Buck says. But there's more to it
than that, Tess says. Yes, there is, Buck agrees. He'll come help her
pack her things. Tess tells Buck that she can't move in with him.

*Tess won't move in with Buck because she wants to do things right this
time. Last time they made a lot of mistakes. Since they got a second
chance, she wants to do it right. Tess is enjoying their growing
relationship, enjoying his company. She doesn't want to be in a rush
this time. "It's the nicest invitation I've ever said no to." Buck
says he understands and they kiss. Jacob interrupts them to tell Buck
about Nick's rehearsal. Everything is going well on Buck's end. The
crew will be done setting up by two and the record producers have said
they will be at the concert.

*Jacob's relieved that the concert is finally happening tonight after
all that's happened in the building - Jared's murder, the mess with
Azure C., and the Masquerader. "Hey, look, there's finally some light
at the end of the tunnel, and it's not the uptown express", Tess tries
to cheer them. Maybe things are looking up?, she says hopefully. Buck
and Jacob go to hang up posters and Tess goes over to the bar and picks
up Lorraine's tarot cards. Zoey comes over (after Richard has left -
see above) and asks, "Dabbling in the great unknown?" and warns Tess to
watch out for the death card. Tess will know it when she sees it. Zoey
leaves. Tess turns over Temperance, The Sun, The Lovers and The
Magician. As she's turning the next card over, Buck asks her to grab a
hammer and help him. She does, without looking at the last card - DEATH.

LOD: Tony [to Ally]: You know, I can deal with threats. Threats don't
bother me, but a promise from the government,
that's as bad as it gets.

That's all for today. See you next Thursday.
