Wednesday in "the city":

In the apartment, Ally is exercising (stretching). Jocelyn is
late for work, she has to run. Ally says no, you have to tell
me what happened last night. Alex comes in....Ally starts.
Jocelyn says she thought he was an intruder and so she sprayed
him with pepper spray. No....Ally says.

At the detective agency, Tess and buck comment on Alex's glasses.
They're a fashion statement, he says, rubbing his eyes. Tess
asks if NYPD matched the prints. Ally pops in and says nice
shades, Alex grunts, and she pops back out. Tess is nervous
and scared. The phone rings. They have no match, Alex tells
Tess and Buck. Well, Tess says, turning to face Buck, that
narrows it down to the 5 billion on the planet who *haven't*
committed a crime. She says that's it, she's dead.

In the bar, Tony is putting something into an envelope. Ally
comes over and asks how he is. Fine, he says, unconviencingly.
No, he's not, Ally says. Is it all this stuff with Carla? She
sits down with Tony.

At the bar, Danny invites Molly to a repeat performance. No,
that was a one-time only thing. Danny grabs her and suggests
they dance...togetehr. She has an early rehearsal. Danny says
that's ironic, their careers are taking off and they have no
time to see each other. He kisses her and leaves.

In Sydney's penthouse apartment, Sydney welcomes Jocelyn back.
Jocelyn wants to know: Sydney had said she wasn't gonna get
involved with Danny, but she turned around and hired him. Why?

Sydney says Jocelyn can't fault her for offering him a job,
can she? Besides, Sydney adds, if she didn't offer him a job,
who would? Funny, Jocelyn says, that's the same line Sydney
used when she offered Jocelyn her job back. Jocelyn says that
the DA thinks that Sydney and Danny might have been involved
together in the murder. It will look funny if they're seen
together. Sydney says it would look funny if they *weren't*
seen together. As her lawyer, Jocelyn says, she's telling
Sydney this is a bad idea. Sydney say she's rejecting this
advise. Danny shows up. Right on time, Sydney sasy. Before
they get to work, Sydney says, she has something to show them,

Tony remembers talking to Rebecca ("You're a FED?!"). Ally
thinks that Carla made up the FBI story to get back at him.
Tony yells at her and says she doesn't know what she's talking
about. He tells her that there are problems with his family,
and he has to work them out...without involving her. She
wants to help. He yells he has to do this *without* her. A
big goon comes and says Gino needs to talk to Tony. Ally
starts to leave, but Tony tells her to make sure Alex gets
this envelope. She tells Tony that he's scaring her. He
knows, but everything will be okay. He tells her it's
really important that she get the envelope to Alex. Tony
leaves with the goon, who says his Uncle Gino is outside
in the car. Tony says he figured. Ally watches them leave,
looking very, very worried.

Alex tells the cop on the phone that it's not his fault.
He hangs up and tells Tess that it's not the news that she
wanted to hear. He's sorry, he was looking for a match.
Tess, near tears, tells him that there is a nut out there
who wants to kill her. Alex says that they need to follow
the motive. Buck says that it seems like someone very
miserable, who is taking it out on the happy woman. Alex
asks Tess if she fit that senario. Well, Tess says, looking
at Buck, she was the happiest she'd ever been, until she
got the obit. Alex tells them that the cops promised to
look into it. They can't find Jared's killer, Tess says,
and she's just a little peon. Alex says he and Tony are
working on it. Good, you guys keep up the good work, Tess
says, she's out of here. She leaves, with Buck calling
after her.

Sydney, in what used to be Tess' agency, tells Danny and
Jocelyn that this would be a great sattelite office for
Chase International, someplace for her to work, without
having to go into downtown. Jocelyn said she was thinking
Tess was hoping it would revert to her. Sydney said well,
she hopes Tess is not holding her breath waiting for that
to happen...or on second thought...Joc asks about the
hole in the wall, and Sydney covers saying Jared might
have been planning on knocking down some walls. She'll
just replaster it. Sydney gets a phone call and takes
it in a corner. She thanks the person for getting back to
her. Towards the end of the conversation, she asks how the
deal is going with Molly Malone?

In the bar, Molly is on the phone with her mother telling
her about the new job, and the rehearsal tonight. She
hangs up and sees Ally. She wonders if she's miserable
because of a man. Molly leaves. Ally opens the envelope,
and there's a key. She reads the note. It says, "If
anything happens to me, here's a key to the safe deposit
box."

Gino takes Tony to a deserted area. He tells Tony that
Carla is his daughter, his whole life. Sure, she was
adopted, Gino says, but she is his only reason to live.
He tells Tony that he's either for the family, or he's
against them. No, Tony says, it's not that easy. Gino
wants the tapes. No, Tony says. He has his promise that
he won't give them to the Feds. No, Gino growls, he wants
the tapes. (ed. note: I like this Gino so far, he has that
sterotypical mob godfather look and feel...I do hope they
show his softer side, though...with the other Gino, I got
the feeling Tony could wrap him around his finger, but
there was a feeling that Tony could push too far with this
one, and Tony is on the edge now.)

Tony says if he gives Gino the tapes, and he distroys them,
Tony still knows what's on the tapes. So, he goes to his
grave, early, (with a hit on him), with the information. No,
Tony has the tapes as protection. If anything happens to him
he knows the tapes will get to the right people. The FBI
will make him testify, Gino says. He won't, Tony gives his
word. Gino says that might have meant soemthing before, but
not now. He can't protect him. Tony says that's it, that's
the problem, Gino can't protect him. No one can anymore.
Gino says this is too bad, he could have been someone
important in the family.

Sydney tells the guy that Molly isn't the lead, he should
be able to work with her and get a passable performance
from her. Sydney hangs up. Sydney gets Jocelyn to leave
with some papers that have to be filed by noon, She tells
Danny that she has some meetings and would like to meet
with him this afternoon. She promises to bring a list of
Chase International holdings, to see if there is anything
that interests him. He has a say in this? Danny asks. Of
course, she wants his input...he can bring Molly, too, so
they can agree on something they're both confortable with.
She has rehearsal, Danny says. Oh, Sydney says, that
slipped her mind.

Jocelyn sneaks up on Alex, who's watching a monitor (or tape)?
She hugs him, and he tells her it's a good thing that he
doesn't have the peper spreay. How did he know it was her?
Her perfume, and he saw her face in the monitor. How are
his eyes? He's blinded, Alex sasy, by her beauty. He hugs her.
What's he watching? He's trying to catch a glimpse of the
intruder.

Tony is shuffling back up the hallway. Ally, holding up the
note and envelope, says what is this about? You opened it?
Tony asks, she shouldn't have. He didn't want to get her
involved. Nevermind. what's going on? Tony tells her this
is not the place to talk about this. Someone serves Tony
with a summons. What's that, Ally asks. The FBI want the
tapes. Or what? Ally asks. Or, he goes to jail, Tony sighs.
