Wednesday, in "the city"

In the bar, Zoey comes in and sees Nick at a table. She
remembers Richard telling her that just because Nick's not
her biological father desn't mean he'll stop loving her.
He won't, because she won't tell him, Zoey remembers telling
Richard. She approaches Nick and asks if he has a minute.
He's trying to get it together for the album, he tells her,
making room at the table for her. He's thinking mayabe he
should do just single instead. She has to tell him
something, Zoey says.

Richard lets himself into Sydney's apartment. He's upset
that it's not double locked. Richard is really upset. They
talk about Loren being safely back in the hospital. Richard
cynically says why doesn't she just stand outside and shout
"Shoot Me, please!" Sydney realizes that he's not just upset
that she didn't double bolt the door. She asks him what else
is wrong? He just told her, he says. She considers the robe
incident one-time thing. Maybe, Richard says, they just
picked another target.

Alex and Jocelyn rush in to the hospital. Where is everyone!
Alex yells. They see Tony and ask him where Ally is. They're
too late, Tony says. WHERE IS SHE! Alex yells. Pathology,
Tony says. They grab him and rush to pathology. What's up,
Tony asks. They'll explain on the way there! Meanwhile, the
coroner says to Angie that this is a shame, a fatal illness,
he could understand, but she was so young... Angie agrees.
The coroner says maybe they'll understand what happened.
We see Ally, lying on the table, with a sheet covering her and
Ally thinks, "Oh, no! They think I'm dead."

Sydney says she thinks things are getting back to normal. Some
people wouldn't agree with her, Richard says. Who? Sydney wants
to know if something else happened in the building. Calm down,
Richard says, he was talking about Zoey. She found out Nick is
not her natural father. Thank god, Sydney sighs. Why? Richard
asks. Why is Sydney so relieved?

Nick wants to talk first. This is not another lecture about
Richard, he promises. He says she was a shock to him. When he
found out she was his kid, he didn't welcome her into his
family with open arms. He never had any responsibility before.
When he found out he had a kid, and that the kid was her, he
practacially ran for the hills. But, she stood by him, when
he was sick, when he told her to go away, she wouldn't go
away. She's a great daughter. She's crying.

The coroner turns on some music (to get his rhythm). He starts
in on the report. He turns to Angie and says he understands
she knew the deceased. If it was someone he loved, he doesn't
think that he could do this. She says she has to do this, she
has to understand what happened. Well, he suggests she keep
her eyes below the head, it's easier that way. And, if she
has to leave, he won't take it personally. She'll be fine,
Angie says. Okay, let's get started. DON'T DO THAT! Tony
and company come running into pathology.

Tony tells the doc to stop. He goes to call security. Alex
tells them that Ally has ingested a fish toxic. Jocelyn
expalins the details. Tony says she's still alive. He pats
her hair, calling her name.

Sydney says he and Zoey are not suited for each other. Zoey
is a...a...a story teller, a liar, Sydney says. First Nick
is her father, then she isn't. Next, Richard will...oh...he'll
be her long-lost twin brother. Richard says that Zoey's not
making this up. Richard tell sSydney that Zoey got a letter
from her mother that someone found and that Zoey's mother
wrote before she...well, you know. It says that Nick is not
the father...Sydney smiles. richard stops and asks her why she
is smiling...Is this because the memory of Sydney's affair
with Nick can remain pure, since he didn't have a child with
anyone else by her? Sydney says she knows that Richard took
the break up with Zoey hard. But, he will get over it.
Richard says that he hopes Zoey will listen to him and let
him help her. Why? Sydney asks. Every child has a right to
know their parents, Richard says, and every parent has a right
to know their child. Sydney looks sad.

Nick says that she's so quiet. Zoey says Nick never took the
blood test to prove he was her father. He says he didn't have
to. He took a real look at her and realizes she was definately
his. Why? Zoey asks, cause she's a freak show? No, Nick says,
cause she goes after what she wants. He wants to show her
something. He shows her one of her mother's poems. He's gonna
sing it Friday and dedicate it to his daughter.

Angie suggests that they try adrenellin. Why? the coroner asks.
They have modern equipment, nothing registers anything. She is
dead, he declares. Alex and Jocelyn tell him that people have
been burried alive. In the old days, maybe, the coroner allows.
No, NOW, in this day and age, Jocelyn says. The coroner says
the fat lady has sung, it's over, there's nothing they can do.
Alex says if that's true, what difference does it make what
they do to her? There are regulations, he says. Angie tells
him to get the crash cart! He says she is overstepping her
bounds. He was stretching the rules letting her be here in the
first place. If he doesn't get the cart, she will, Angie says.
She wants to do anything she can to save her friend! Tony
looks worried.

After a commercial break, there is nothing. Not even a bleep.
Angie tells Tony she's sorry. Can they try again? Alex offers.
Tony tells Ally he knows she's in there and to please give
him a sign.

Sydney says sometimes the less you know about family ties the
better you are. look at Zoey, she was happy without a family.
Now, she is happy again, but when she finds her real father,
will she be dissapointed? Maybe if what she finds gets in the
way of her happiness? But, she'll know the truth, and she can
deal with it, Richard says. Sydney says the truth is not
always in the best interest. If Sydney didn't know who her
parents were, Richard asks, wouldn't that be important to her?
Not if it would complicate her life, Sydney says. He says
they should go down to the bar. Come on, Mommmmmmm. She's
gonna make him pay for that.

Zoey can't believe he'll dedicate a song to her. It's almost
like he's proud of her or something, He is proud of her, Nick
says. They hug. So, what did she want to tell him? Nothing,
she lies, he said it all. Sydney and Richard come into the bar
and see Zoey and Nick having a nice conversation. Sydney says
it looks like her news hasn't altered their relationship.
Richard says fine. He has to leave. Zoey excuses herself
and goes over to talk to Sydney. Sydney tells Zoey that she
did the right thing. No, she lied, Zoey says, just like she
lied to Richard for *her*. But, she and Richard can get back
together and there is nothing Sydney can go about it. Zoey
leaves. Sydney gets served with some papers.

Outside of pathology, Jocelyn tells Alex that she's so sorry.
Alex says he can't believe it. How is he going to tell Kate
and the others? She hugs him. He tells her to worry about
Danny. Alex tells her she has to concentrate in getting Danny
out of jail. She tells him she is so sorry. So is he, Alex
sighs. Tony is holding Ally's hand and Angie tells him it's
time to go. No, Tony says. Please, Ally give me a sign. Angie
says, "Tony...." he gets up, but is still holding her hand.
He kisses her forehead and again tells her that he'll love
her always. He turns, and tells Angie to look. The heart
monitor is beeping. ALEX! JOCELYN! Get in here, Tony yells.
She's A L I V E! She opens her mouth, and then her eyes.
Tony? she wispers. Yes, he says. Could you get me a
cheeseburger? Ally asks.
