It's "Two Thursday Updates for the Price of One" Day... aren't you lucky! :-)
I never got around to last week's, pesky life got in the way. So, if you
don't care what happened over a week ago, skip a couple of screens to see
what happened yesterday. Without further ado:

THURSDAY, MARCH 14, 1996 in the City, is Dysfunctional Family Day
(though every day seems to be Dysfunctional Family Day at 212 Greene):

THEY SURE AIN'T THE CLEAVERS, THOUGH ONE MIGHT BE USEFUL
========================================================
After a 12+ hour meeting with her accountant, Sydney signs some papers against
his advice. Jared arrives. Sydney has gone through Chase International's
finances and found every place they are in legal trouble, and she proposes
liquidating those assets, while separating their personal holdings at the
same time so they can go their separate ways. Jared refuses... he's missed
her, professionally and personally. Sydney scoffs at the idea that she'd
take him back after what he pulled; it's over, she wants a divorce. Jared
says no. Sydney points out that it could solve their legal problems and
keep them out of prison. She's also furious about the cameras and mikes in
the building. She tells him he disgusts her. Jared shocks her when he
reveals that he has everything on tape, and puts on a tape of her and Nick
in bed. Sydney's pissed. Jared says we had a deal; I give you all this
(gesturing around to their amassed wealth), and you stay away from Nick Rivers.
He can't believe she has such bad taste. No, Sydney says, you can't handle
passion. Game over, says Syd. I taught you the game, says Jared, and if
you think about it, you'll realize my position is stronger.

Meanwhile, the guy Richard hired to follow Jared tells Richard about the
secret room across the street. Richard breaks in, discovers the monitors,
watches a couple of the labelled tapes... and trashes the room. "You're
next, Jared," vows Richard...

THEY SURE AIN'T THE BRADYS, THOUGH DANNY'S HAIR IS RETRO ENOUGH
===============================================================
Jocelyn, coming totally unglued, frantically tries to reach her shrink. She
clutches the earrings her dad gave her for her birthday and weeps... she
heads out. Danny runs into her in the hallway, carrying his freshly dry-
cleaned jacket, and takes his anger about losing the "gold" out on her,
bitching about how she forced him into staying for the birthday dinner, even
though he knew it would be a disaster. They continue back in her apartment.
He apparently doesn't notice that Jocelyn's total meltdown is imminent, and
continues to rail that he didn't want to get into it with his dad in front
of Molly. Jocelyn yells at him that it was no picnic for her either. Danny
sarcastically wonders what she means, she's little miss perfect. Jocelyn
throws a total fit, and starts trashing the apartment. Danny restrains her,
and begs her to talk to him. Jocelyn pleads stress. Danny asks if Alex is
the cause. Jocelyn says Alex is the one good thing in her life. She wants
to be alone. They make up, and Danny leaves. Jocelyn wilts, and calls Madame
Varoushka, who has just the client for her. Jocelyn gets all ready, and puts
on the Earrings of Doom...

THEY SURE AIN'T THE CORLEONES, THOUGH THEY HAVE THE ACCENT DOWN
===============================================================
Molly and Alex chat about Jocelyn's birthday dinner, and how awful Mr. Roberts
is. Tony's on the phone with his mother, looking for Joey. Alex is going
after the call girls again. Alex tells Molly that Jocelyn doesn't know about
this case, and he doesn't want her to; he isn't sleeping with the girls, he's
only finding out about their blackmail scheme. The theory is that the girls
are working for the mob. Alex asks Tony if he's talked to Joey or his Uncle
Gino. Tony blows up, saying his isn't the only mob family in New York. Knock,
knock; speak of the devil, it's Joey, and he and Tony go to talk.

Tony is mad at Joey for giving Molly a heart attack by going to her hotel
room. Joey said he did her a favor, like he's doing Tony one; he tells him
to get out of the building. They have the same old conversation. Tony knows
it's not Uncle Gino calling the shots at 212 Greene, who is it? Joey says
someone bigger, not one of the families, is back in town; and Joey has been
taken out of the loop, so now Tony is on his own, because Joey can't warn
him in his oh-so-crytic way of imminent disaster. Tony asks if Joey is in
trouble. Joey says he's okay. Tony urges him to get police protection, to
get into the witness protection program (yeah, ask Jacob about that one!).
Joey says it wouldn't matter. He tells Tony not to worry about him, to
get as far way from Greene Street as he can, and to take anyone he cares about
with him. This is no game, Joey warns...

Molly comments that the brothers Saleito are nothing alike. Like Cain and Abel,
says Alex... or Danny and Jocelyn. Molly defends Danny, saying he's changed
and is trying to start over. Alex changes the subject to the reappearance of
Jared Chase. Tony comes back in in time to hear that Jared has resurfaced.
Alex tells Tony that Malcolm Brown got a big promotion. Just then Madame
V. calls; she's found a redhead for Alex...

Now-kind-of-anticlimactic-CLIFFHANGER, and end of update #1...
