Today on "the city":

Angie tells Kayla and Zoe that they have granola bars and
fruit snacks. Angie tells Zoe that it won't kill her to
eat healthy. Angie leaves. Zoe sayss he's prepared for such
emergencies and she dumps a pocketbook full of junk food
onto the table.

Murphy's Law is playing at the bar. They're loud. Where is
the crowd? Buck asks Jacob. Jacob says it's early. Jacob
asks if Buck can handle this crowd. Sure, he says. Jacob
leaves to go to Angie. At a table, Danny is reading the
SoHo paper with the headline. Ally, sitting close to Tony,
says this is terrible for Angie. Alex tells her that
today's newspaper is tomorrow's garbage; this too shall pass.

Frankie and his friends approach the bar, but his friend
says he can't go there.

He tells Frankie that the reporter called him, and this is
a platform for them. Frankie doesn't want his mother
involved in this, no matter how good a platform it is. His
friend says he'll see what he can do; the reporter really
wants to do a follow-up story. Ally goes over, saying that
she wants to invite them over. Molly comes in and gives
Tony and Alex some messages. Here is a list of women, and
Alex, she says, Charles from Corinth sent over some leads,
and he reminds them to keep track of the time that they
spend since they're paid hourly now.

Zoe is showing Kayla how to deal from the bottom of the
deck. Kayla says that she'll show Angie when she goes home.
You mean to Jacob's place, Zoe says. She tries to get the
kid to not think of that as home, but Kayla is adament
that she will stay with Angie forever.

Jacob and Angie talk about Kayla. Angie says that she
wants Kayla to have a permanant, happy home. But, Jacob
adds, she doesn't want to give her up. Angie doesn't
want to be one of those people that says one thing, but
does another. Jacob says that he's doing it to her now.

Jocelyn tells Danny that he gets on her nerves. He
mentions that she hasn't bitten her nails since law
school. She could make a list of his bad habits, she
offers. He tells her if anything is bothering her...
*nothing* is bothering her, she screams. Well, if
anything ever is...they hug.

Ally tries to get Frankie to come over to the table,
but he blows her off, saying he has to get back to his
friends.

Jacob says sAngie asked him if Kayla being white
bothered him. Jacob says that he sees people in the
park, mothers and their different-race kids, and he
wonders who's caring for the black kids. Then he thinks
of her and Kayla. What will people think? Does that
matter? Angie asks. Yes, he guesses it does. But,
Jacob says that she has to do what is good for her.
She tells him that they all came to NY for a second
chance, he is her second chance, he is all that she
needs.

Zoe tells Kayla that she shouldn't get her hopes up,
she's just setting herself up for a fall. Kayla says
she wants Angie to be her mother; Angie loves her.
Zoe syas that you don't always get what you want,
or she'd be in Paris. Where's that? Kayla asks. Far
away from here, Zoe says. Kayla says she doesn't want
to go to Paris. Zoe tells her that she has two mothers,
and she might get another; Zoe never had even one.

Danny and Jocelyn rejoin the group. They find out that
Tony and Alex are looking into a call-girl routine in
Atlantic City. Danny says what's the similarity between
a lawyer and a prostitute? Tony says what? tTey both
screw their clients. Jocelyn gets sick, and leaves.
Alex tries to stop her. At the bar, Buck tells Molly
and Tony to keep the bowl. Buck says so you're
leaving? Molly says they're going to Atlantic City
for a hooker bust. Tony says to ignore her, she's
overdosed on salt. Tony tells her to try to remember
what the P in PI stands for...PRIVATE. She gets him
to read lines for her school project. He admitss
that he was in Romeo and Juliet...he was Juliet...
it was an all-boy's school.

Jacob says that he insisted that she come with him
to NY. Angie says that sometimes things go wrong.
Jacob says everything is going wrong, and it's all
his fault. Nothing is his fault. Everything is his
fault, he says. They cuddle.

Danny says maybe Jocelyn is not coming back. Maybe
she's had enough of you, Danny tells Alex. Maybe she
had enough of *you*, Alex shoots back. Ally breaks
them apart. Alex leaves to find Jocelyn. Is she
gonna ignore him, too? Danny asks Ally, Yes, she
says. He says that she's not his type. Yup, she
admits, his type is on 8th street. Danny says
Molly is more his type. Give her a break, Ally
says. Ally comes over to Tony as he's reading for
Molly's class project. It's about a life being
over. Danny comes over and asks for a minute of
Molly's time. You can have two, she gushes. Tony
and Ally talk and he says he's a terrible packer,
can she help him? Meanwhile, Jocelyn is on the
payphone, and Malcom's answering machine answers.
She hangs up, crying. Alex comes over and sees her.
Crying, she asks him to take her out of there.

Angie lets Jacob read her diary entry for the first
day in NY. Everything was terrible, and she was
starting to wonder if it weas a mistake to follow
him to NY. But, then he came and when she's in his
arms, nothing else matters.
