Waiting impatiently for Vicky to return home, Jake begins
to wonder if the revelation he's planned is coming too late.
Alarmed to learn that the Carlinos' house is ablaze, Grant
realizes that his stunt has gone badly awry. Meanwhile, Joe
battles his way through the thick smoke and grabs Dante
from Paulina's arms. Lila discovers that Shane has vanished
and left all his medications behind. Aboard the boat, Shane
prepares for his final voyage. In the ER, Paulina frantically
begs Joe to believe that she did nothing to endanger their
son. Appalled to learn that the house was a total loss, a
tearful Paulina bemoans the fact that tragedy seems to be
haunting her family. Shane pens a farewell note to Lila,
explaining why he's decided to die alone somewhere far
from Bay City. Certain her ex has run off with his old flame,
Lila berates Jake for driving Vicky into Shane's arms.
Though Sofia tries to comfort her brother, Joe grows
increasingly angry and suspicious about the origin of the fire.
Guessing that Shane has taken Vicky away on his boat, Lila
convinces Jake to help her track down the runaway couple.
Cindy suspects that Grant's surprising concern for Dante's
safety is motivated by more than a parent's natural concern
for protecting a child. Joe asks the doctor to test Paulina's
              blood sample for drugs.
