Joe and Paulina wake up in bed together. Joe's got a big breakfast
planned. Paulina's not so hot on the idea. Seems she thinks she might
be
pregnant. She doesn't tell Joe that though. They read in the paper
about
the brou-ha-ha at the Cory manse last night. Paulina's off to see
Rachel;
Joe's off to the precinct.

Gary and Josie resolve to tell Gabe that there's nothing he can do to
break them up. Gabe is meanwhile noisily getting ready for work down
the
hall. At the station, he asks to see Gary. Josie follows them into
his
office. Gabe tells Josie to leave. Gabe tells Gary to dump Josie or
find
a new job. When Gary protests, Gabe says that he holds him responsible
because he is Josie's superior. Gabe threatens him: I know about your
past. Gary says I haven't had a drink in months. It's not that and
you
know it, retorts Gabe. Gabe hands Gary a file -- does he really want
Josie to see it? Later, when Josie looks for Gary, she discovers he's
left the station. She asks Gabe what happened to him, and Gabe says
that
Gary's off following regulations. He turns away, so she grabs him by
the
arm to face her (freeze frame)

Jake storms into the police station, demanding to see Gabe and Joe.
Joe
arrives first. Jake lays in to him about not protecting Vicky and her
babies. Gabe interrupts them. Jake says that Justine's bomb was
professional, not some handmade thingamajig. There must be an
accomplice
out there; ergo, Vicky's not safe. Gabe agrees with Jake and orders
Joe
to investigate, while Joe seethes. As Jake taunts Joe about Paulina,
Joe
cuffs Jake for no apparent reason. Just some more of those
professional
Bay City cops, I guess. He leads him to a holding cell and Jake
threatens
to sue him for wrongful arrest and end his career. Joe lets him go,
and
tells Jake that he can't hurt Joe because he has Paulina.

Rachel is upset about what Justine said about sleeping with Carl.
Paulina
and Maggie arrive to comfort her. Matt is there too, downstairs,
talking
to Carl. Carl tells him that Rachel is very upset, that seeing Justine
is
like seeing herself deformed. They hope that she doesn't attach the
horrible incidents to her home, which she has always loved. Carl asks
Matt to find out if Rachel doubts him. Paulina can't believe that
Justine
was there when she visited the house last night. Rachel saved
Paulina's
life at the possible expense of her own. Well, Rachel says, I want
grandchildren. Cecile pays her respects to Rachel as well. When they
all
leave, except Paulina, Rachel seems troubled and then asks Paulina for
some good news. Paulina says you might be getting a new grandchild.

Rachel is thrilled. Paulina says that this is what she always wanted
because when she was a child, she never had a family of her own.
Rachel
tells her not to let Jake spoil her happiness. Later, Paulina visits
Jake
and tells him she has something to tell him.

Cass and Frankie fight. She's unhappy because Morgan never visits
Charlie, because John and Sharlene are broke, because they won't have a
big family Christmas, and mostly because she saw Cass hugging Laurie
yesterday. Cass leaves to see Laurie.

Cecile visits Laurie in jail. She tells Laurie that Cass has feelings
for
her and that's why Frankie is so hostile to her -- because she's
jealous.

Laurie can't believe it, but Cecile is very convincing. Cass comes to
see
Laurie before she is transferred for her psychiatric evaluation.
Laurie
is staring at the mirror. She tells him she dreamed about him and they
kiss. He tells her he loves her and is leaving Frankie. They kiss
again
- SCREECH! BACK TO REALITY -- Cass tells Laurie that there is nothing
more he can do for her. She will get the help she needs and he is no
longer representing her. Cass asks Josie to call a public defender
that
he has recommended to Laurie. Josie's happy Cass is no longer hurting
John.
