TRUTH IS OVERRATED

Burrell House - For some unknown reason, the Burrells have invited
Nick over after he's finished his Thanksgiving dinner w/ the Hudson family
[if there's any left - they're dropping like flies]. Left alone for a
moment, he stews over the love letter he thinks Sofia wrote to Matt
telling him not to write anymore. [Nick fails to remember that HE'S the
one who's been writing to Sofia - duh!] The doorbell rings, he answers it.
It's Sofia. They're surprised and a little uncomfortable to see each
other. She notices he seems inexplicably testy, but he clams up, so she
starts to leave. He asks her to stay, and she says she will if he
promises to talk to her. He's about to spill everything when Toni and
Etta Mae swoop in oblivious and interrupt, welcoming Sofia. They offer
her some sparkling cider. Tyrone arrives, apologizing for missing dinner
because of a [yet another invisible] client. He remarks that Sofia looks
like she has some kind of fire inside her [whatever the heck THAT
means]... and Toni does, too. Toni looks a little embarrassed [it just
SOUNDS suggestive, don't it?]. E-M tells Ty to pour some cider for Sofia.
Toni and Ty reach for the cider bottle at the same time, and their hands
touch, to Toni's discomfort. Nick and Sofia study each other warily.
Later, Toni, Nick and Sofia sit at the table with Ty while he eats.
E-M thinks it's too quiet, and Ty suggests that Toni misses Chris. E-M
explains that Chris had flown to D.C. to spend the holiday with his mother
[at least now we know where Rita is - was she offered a new job, or is
this the same medical convention she's been attending for the past year?],
but Sofia has her man right by her side. Nick and Sofia look
uncomfortable. E-M offers them some pecan pie, and produces a deck of
cards for them to liven things up. Ty brings up the mysterious key, but
E-M just wants him to drop the subject as well as the search. She exits
to get the pie, and Ty explains to Sofia that the key was left to E-M by
his mother, he suspects it could be a clue to who his father was. Toni
thinks they should start playing cards - but Nick, eyeing Sofia, suggests
a game of Truth or Dare instead. Toni and Sofia are leery of the idea,
but finally give in. They each draw a card, high card asks the first
question. Sofia wins the draw, and asks Ty about his most embarrassing
moment. Ty says it was when he was 15, and he'd had to admit to his
schoolmates that the rumor was true, he didn't know who his father was.
Not yet having fun, they try again. Ty wins the next draw, and asks Nick
what it's like to share an apartment with the woman he's in love with..
Nick reveals he's no longer living there; Sofia says it's not what they
think, but Nick says he's not so sure; he and Sofia snipe back and forth,
and Ty is sorrier for his question than Sofia was about hers earlier.
Nick apologizes for suggesting this game, thanks Toni for inviting him
over, and takes his leave. Sofia follows him out. Ty and Toni shake
their heads over the unexpected rift between Nick and Sofia. Ty figures
Toni will never want to play Truth or Dare again. Toni just says next
time she'll dare him to sing (apparently an inside joke). Ty calls her
bluff, says he's willing to risk it, and suggests they draw again right
now. This time he wins - and asks her to tell him her true feelings about
him. When she refuses, he dares her to kiss him - not an "old friends"
kiss, but a real kiss on the lips. She agrees, and tries to keep it
brief, but he draws her into a long, slow, romantic kiss. E-M enters and
sees this, and she doesn't look pleased.

Out on the street, Sofia catches up with Nick and demands to know why
he's so upset, we thought living under the same roof was asking for
trouble, but your moving out hasn't helped matters. He tells her pointedly
that she's the only woman in his life, no one else; and he challenges her
to one last Truth or Dare. She agrees, and he hands her the letter. She
swears she didn't write the letter, never saw it before, but he insists
she saw the earlier letters that this one is a reply to. She accuses him
of snooping, and tries to point out where the letter is telling the guy to
stop writing to her. If he means nothing to you, yells Nick, why didn't
you tell me about him a long time ago? [Read my lips, Nick: The writer
was YOU, Shakespeare - you should never have tried such a complicated
plan, if you can't even remember your OWN role!] He storms away angrily.

FAMILY PLANNING

Snake Pit - er, I mean, Grant and Cindy's place - Boris and Natasha
return from dropping off Kirk after a scheduled visit. Grant is surly
because he had to give back his son, and Cindy tries to console him with a
glass of his favorite wine. He can see she really cares for him, and
assures her she means the world to him - he's seen her in a new light,
ever since she told him [in a Boo-Bah induced haze] that she wanted to
have Kirk come to live with them. He drifts off into a fantasy, in which
he's just gotten custody of Kirk, who's happy to be away from his
neglectful Mommy and be able to live with Daddy and Step-mommy. A
grungy-looking Jake has brought Kirk over, explaining he's helping Grant
because Vicky had been seeing Shane behind his back, they were about to
run off together with the boys. He unfurls the blow-up photo Grant had
given him, showing Shane apparently kissing Vicky; Jake says Vicky tried
to tell him it was really Marley, but he didn't believe her, and he
promises to testify for Grant if Vicky tries to get Kirk back. Back to
reality, Grant predicts to Cindy that they'll soon have custody of Kirk -
Vicky will screw up, like she always does, and at the first slip-up he'll
have her back in court. But this time, he assures her, Nikos will make
sure the judge rules in his favor - I have enough on Nikos to get him
convicted (of kidnaping and trying to kill Rachel) if he doesn't
cooperate. Soon you and I and Kirkland will be one big happy family, he
smirks. Cindy has her own fantasy - Grant has custody of Kirk, and they
immediately send the well-dressed tyke off to boarding school. Kirk is
eager to go off to the school where his Daddy went, and promises his
Step-mommy he'll return when he's all grown up. Cindy quickly whisks him
out the door, then slithers back over to Grant and tempts him with a
promise of bedroom fulfillment - but first, just sign this paper, making
me your full partner and granting me Power of Attorney. She drapes the
document across her bosom, and he leeringly signs it. She bursts out in
peals of laughter. Back in reality, Grant asks what she's laughing about.
She assures him she's just so happy at the prospect of their future
together with Kirk. The phone rings - it's Nikos. Apparently he tells
Grant he's haunting Felicia's hospital room; Grant warns him to watch out
for Carl's armed guards and lay low - your picture is in every paper in
the country, he advises, I'll find out what I can and get back to you. He
hangs up, and cackles to Cindy that he has Nikos right where he wants him;
Cindy looks skeptical.
Later, Grant gets a call from Louie, an inside informant, who reports
that Carl is flying the Cory jet to L.A. Grant immediately calls Nikos to
pass the word along. He urges Nikos to remember how grateful he is, the
next time Grant needs a favor, and hangs up. Cindy worries about
depending on a kidnapper and would-be murderer, for favors - he can't help
us much from behind bars - but Grant intends to tap into Nikos' "World
Wide Web" of connections. He's in my pocket, Grant cackles smugly.

GIMME A TICKET FOR AN AEROPLANE - AIN'T GOT TIME TO TAKE A FAST TRAIN

Bay City International [hee-hee! (Sorry, I always laugh at that
idea!)] Airport - Shane spots a woman at the ticket counter. From the
back he thinks it's Vicky deciding to dump Jake and run away with him -
but it turns out she's a total stranger. As she exits, he pops another
pill. When he gets to the counter, he asks for a ticket to someplace far
away where he doesn't need a passport. The agent finds one seat in first
class on a flight to San Francisco. She says he can save a bundle if he
can wait 2 weeks, but for some reason he doesn't seem to want to wait.
She hints that, once he sees the Golden Gate bridge, he'll want to stay
for the rest of his life. That could happen, he chuckles ironically.
Later, as he's sitting in first class, he flashes back over moments
he and Vicky had shared - from the night he appeared at her door and she
fainted; to champagne in the tree house; to the hilltop overlooking the
city; to their adventures in the woods; to kissing her at her engagement
party; and to her finally rejecting him at her wedding, and his giving her
a fallen leaf at her reception.
Some time after, he takes out his pill bottle, then reconsiders and
sets it aside without opening it. He starts to rise from his seat, but
sinks back weakly, which the flight attendant observes. She exits and
returns with a bottle of water, offering to open the pills for him, but he
tells her he has to work through this on his own. Somehow she interprets
this to mean he's dying [must have read ahead in the script], and urges
him to call someone. The woman I love has 2 kids and doesn't need the
extra burden, he tells her. Let her decide, begs the attendant. She
already has, he answers. He hands her his champagne glass and asks for
some ginger ale, and she exits. He moans and rubs his temples with
apparent distress.

HONEYMOON HIDEAWAY

     Vicky's house - Jake carries Vicky over the threshold of her bedroom;
she's stunned that it's all been decorated in their absence - after all,
no one knows we planned to honeymoon at home. Jake claims that all the
flowers, candles and confetti were magically conjured. He admits that
Shane's appearance at their wedding gave him a scare that she might run
away with him, but she reassures him that would never happen, she couldn't
wait to be Mrs. Jake McKinnon. [Although she sure hesitated long enough
before she said "I do," when Shane showed up...] They're dubious of
Shane's final wish for their happiness, but decide to forget about Shane
and concentrate on their honeymoon. Vicky figures out it was Chris that
Jake had gotten to arrange for the decorators to transform the place -
like a new house for their new life. They both admit they'd each pictured
their future differently, with mansions and yachts and luxury (Jake says
he got his images from "The Beverly Hillbillies"), but this simple cottage
life now seems right for them. She suggests a bath; while Jake goes to
prepare it, Vicky calls Michael to check on the boys. Jake returns to
find Vicky in her dressing gown. She reports that Grant had brought Kirk
home early, and the boys are fine. She'd told Michael they were settling
into their beautiful honeymoon "hideaway," and now she wants to see what
she'd just lied about. Jake ushers her to the bathroom, which is also
bathed in candlelight, the tub piled high with bubbles. She wonders why
she didn't see them as a couple, long before now; but Jake figures they
had to go through all the hard times to be ready to be where they are now.
Later, Vicky is soaking in the bubble bath; Jake is now wearing a
bathrobe. They toast with champagne, and vow to never let the romance
end. Jake sets the glasses aside and begins to sensuously stroke Vicky's
back and arms with the sponge.
Still later, they're lying in bed; she's on her stomach, and he
lovingly strokes her back as they talk, blissfully content. She's happy
to be starting their marriage here in their own home, their own bed. He
offers to serve the dinner he's had catered; but she wants to be held a
while longer, purring about what a beautiful, perfect wedding it was
[gotta admit, it was gorgeous].
After, they share a romantic dinner, sipping champagne, feeding each
other chocolate mousse, and dancing in the candlelight. She slips off his
bathrobe, he carries her to the bed - and nature takes its course, amid
tender kisses and caresses.
As Vicky and Jake laze in bed, she suddenly sits bolt upright,
looking agitated. What is it, he asks her. Something just happened, she
replies, something bad - I can feel it [I think we're supposed to connect
this to Shane's headache]. Fadeout...

Thanks for tuning in. Trivia for the day: does everyone remember, the
actor who now plays Father Leo on "Nothing Sacred," who was earlier a
regular on "I'll Fly Away," is the same actor who played the sea captain
who performed Cass and Frankie's first wedding ceremony (AFTER Cass
rescued her from her kidnapper (Ryan)) - what is his name? Where did the
ceremony take place? Who (character) was responsible for the music?
(Sorry, no prizes involved!)
