Subject: Another World Update: Friday, Nov. 21

>Here's the update, slightly discombobulated cause all the sotrylines are
>tripping over each other today, but hey, it was a good episode!

>OH, MAMA
>Josie gets ready for the wedding as Rain makes some drawings. The little girl
>picks one up and asks Josie to give it to Queenie. Josie asks if Queenie goes
>by another name. Grandma, Rain says. Rain prattles on that Queenie lives in
>the country and has a cow, but she doesnt have a husband that Rain calls
>Grandpa. Josie panics slightly, grabs a blue T-shirt out of a drawer and
>heads into the other room, where she calls Toni. Josie explains the
>situation. The T-shirt has the name of a business (Tammy's somethin) in
>Meadowville, so Josie wants Toni to do some investigating. Later, Toni comes
>over and tells Josie that she found out that a Colleen "Queenie" Wolfe lives
>in Meadowville, Iowa. Josie tries to convince herself and Toni that this
>woman, even if she is Rain's grandmother, cant give Rain the love that she and
>Gary can because she barely knows Rain. Apparantely, Cheryl ran away about 6
>years ago, returning to Iowa briefly a year ago with Rain in tow before taking
>off again. Toni thinks that Queenie might want to have a chance to raise her
>granddaughter. Toni leaves, and the reality of losing Rain hits Josie hard,
>so she grabs a suitcase and some clothes and tells Rain they are going far
>away. [Now, is it just me, or is this totally against her
>play-it-by-the-rules attitude? Then again, after what she did to Chip
Rayburn...]

>LET'S BOND....
>Cindy comes out to find Grant standing in the window. She thinks he is upset
>that Vicky is getting married and Jake will become Kirk's stepfather. On the
>contrary, Grant is very happy. He shows Cindy a photo, and Cindy cant believe
>Vicky kissed Shane the night before her wedding to Jake. It's not Victoria,
>Grant sneers. Cindy asks where Grant found another look-alike with a latex
>mask this late in the game. Grant explains that the woman is Vicky's
>identical twin, Marley, but the lovesick doctor didnt know the difference.
>Grant figures everyone else will think that the picture is of Vicky, which
>will help with his custody suit against Vicky. He is very happy that Cindy
>wants Kirk to live with them full time and gives Cindy a book about childhood,
>which she promises to read. Cindy finds Kirk's suspenders, and Grant decides
>to go give them to his son. He kisses Cindy goodbye, telling her to get
>dressed because they are going to crash the wedding. When Cindy fusses that
>they will make a scene, Grant tells her not to worry: Shane will make an even
>bigger scene.
>
>Marley comes down to find her sister dressed, but not in her wedding gown.
>Vicky has to go and talk to Shane. She cant marry Jake without resolving her
>feelings for Shane. Marley tells her not to go because she is getting married
>to Jake in a few hours. Vicky argues that Marley was pushing for her to go
>and talk to Shane last night. Yes, last night, Marley replies, not today.
>Vicky leaves anyway, much to Marley's displeasure. A few seconds later there
>is a knock at the door. Marley rushes to the door and finds Jake there. Jake
>and Marley have an awkward conversation, but Marley seems happy for her sister
>and Jake. The boys come down to talk to Jake and Donna arrives. Jake
>attempts to see Vicky, but Marley tells him it is bad luck and besides Vicky
>is in the shower. Jake leaves with the boys, and Donna goes to help Vicky, but
>Marley tells Donna the truth about Shane coming over last night and kissing
>her and Vicky's going over to set him straight. After getting angry that
>Marley didnt tell Shane it was Marley and not Vicky he kissed, Donna panics
>and raves on and on how she worked feverishly to get Shane away from Vicky.
>Marley tells her mom that Vicky promised to be back in time for the wedding,
>but Donna remains unhappy. Any wiff of scandal will give Grant the ammunition
>he needs to take Kirk. Paulina and Michael show up from Carlinos (see below),
>and Paulina panics at the sight of "Vicky." Michael hushes Paulina and hugs
>Marley. Paulina realizes her mistake and apologizes for not recognizing
>Marley, but Marley says it is fine, she didnt recognize Paulina either. Well,
>I had a baby you know, Paulina quips. Paulina rushes upstairs to help Vicky
>and Marley follows her. Michael talks to Donna, who quickly fills him in on
>the situation. Just then Grant shows up brandishing Kirk's suspenders and
>demanding to see Vicky. Donna tries to hold him off, and Paulina comes
>downstairs and nearly ruins it all, but Donna shouts that Vicky isnt accepting
>visitors. Paulina gets the message and tells them that she will see if Vicky
>will accept company. She rushes back upstairs and returns with "Victoria" in
>a bathrobe and towel. [Marley trick Grant...reminds me of the time Vic got on
>the stand as "Marley" during the rape trial. Having a twin really comes in
>handy sometimes...]
>
>I NEED YOU TO DO A LITTLE "JOB" FOR ME, CHRISTOPHER, MY LAD...
>Jake brings the boys to Carlinos so the boys can eat something before the
>wedding. Kirk and Stephen take the boat Shane made for Vicky and try to float
>it in the sink, but it wont float (cause it isnt that kinda boat - its the
>kind you put on a shelf and look at..doh). Joe tries to help them, but he
>tells them that perhaps the boat wasnt meant to sail (meaning Vic and Shane -
>how clever of those writers). Joe also congratulates Paulina on how well she
>has been doing fighting her food and drug addictions. (Too bad shes destined
>to become Bay City's next alcoholic, too...enough suffering already, writers!)
> Jake, Joe, Michael, and Paulina toast the impending wedding (though Paulina
>only asks for a little bit). Michael and Paulina leave to go to Vicky's (see
>above). Meanwhile, Jake and Joe have a heart to heart. Jake admits he was
>wrong about trying to stop Paulina from marrying Joe, and Joe wishes Jake and
>Vicky the best. Jake goes to call Vicky, but Lila bursts in. She warns Jake
>that Vicky may be heading for Shane, that she has just come from seeing Shane
>on his boat (see above) and he is hell bent on having Vicky for himself. Lila
>leaves, and Jake makes a call, but not to Vicky's. He calls Chris and tells
>him to untie a knot of a rope attached to a boat called the Turning Point.
>Set him free, my brother, Jake tells Chris. [Uhh...too late, Vicky's on the
>boat that is gonna set sail....whoops!]
>
>SAIL AWAY SAIL AWAY SAIL AWAY
>Lila finds Shane on his boat. He tells her that he thinks he has turned a
>corner on his illness and is getting better and is confident he can be with
>Vicky now since he isnt going to die. Lila tells him that he cant keep
>pursuing Vicky and he cant steal her away from her wedding, but Shane says he
>wont have to: Vicky will come to him of her own free will. Lila leaves to
>find Jake [see above].. Vicky shows up and tells Shane that she does have
>feelings for him but insists she will marry jake, that if things had been
>different perhaps they would have made love that one night and realized that
>they were wrong, that it wasnt love. Shane is convinced otherwise and gives
>his reasons (which I think we all have memorized we have heard them so many
>times). He moves in and kisses her....
>
>Until next time,
