At the bookstore, Josie and Gary make out. Felicia stands outside,
sighing "John." Gary gives Josie the keys to his apartment and asks
her
to move in. Josie doesn't think it's a good idea. What about his
sobriety, and their jobs, and her family . . . Gary hears a noise
outside and finds Felicia with a ton of mascara streaming down her
face.

Josie leaves. Felicia tells Gary that she's going to fall apart, and
if
she lets herself, she'll hurt her friends instead of helping them.
Gary
consoles her: at least she didn't drink. Outside, Josie runs into John.

Startled, John tells her that he spoke to Sharlene about being rejected
for the loan and being suspended. He walks her to her car and goes
back
to the bookstore. Right after Felicia tells Gary that she wants to be
alone, John enters. He thanks her for telling him to call Sharlene and
tells her that she's coming home soon. Then he says, "You were the
strong
one. If it weren't for you . . ." He asks her how she feels, and she
tells him to go home. Later, Josie, using her keys, goes to Gary's,
gets
undressed, and crawls into bed with him.

Joe and Paulina go to Sassy's. Guess who's there? Jake. He invites
them
to eat with them. OK, then, let's discuss the divorce, they reply.
Jake,
believe it or not, is very accomodating. Matt, who is there and drunk,
comes over to the table to tell Jake to stay away from Paulina.
Paulina
goes to see what's wrong with them. He just makes her promise to marry
Joe. Matt gets in Nick's face about Michael. Finally, he confesses that
Donna never showed up at their wedding. Paulina says she might have a
good reason. Joe tells him to fight for his woman, and Matt takes off
after Donna. Paulina is mad at Joe for sending a drunk Matt off into
the
night. She's also a bit upset about the reality of her impending
divorce. They make up. Joe is suspicious of Jake's good will.
Paulina
wants to give him the benefit of the doubt; why make this more painful
than it already is? Jake hires Nick for some mysterious purpose.

Donna crawls into bed with Michael. She tells him how great the sex
was.

He agrees, but says that they have problems out of bed. And what about
Matt? Well, I thought I loved him, she says. Don't be noble, Michael,
admit you love me and you'll have another chance with me. Umm, Donna,
I
don't want another chance with you. He sees her overnight bag and asks
why she brought it, as there's no reason for them to change their lives
over their little walk down memory lane, their lapse in judgement.
What
life, Donna screams. I was supposed to be marrying Matt while we were
having sex! He calls her selfish. She calls him selfish for coming on
to
her. He says that it's not his fault they "fit together" so well.
Admit
it, she implores, you want me right now. Yeah I do, he admits but we
don't give each other enough space. I'll help you fix things with
Matt.

He doesn't have to know. Donna accuses Michael of having flirted with
her
since he returned. He says it never meant anything. He wants to keep
this night as a happy memory, and he definitely doesn't want her back.

Moreover, he doesn't think she really wants him back. He thinks she
wants
some one who will be there for her, like Matt. Michael wants to live,
she
doesn't want any strings. They say they love each other. He gives her
the cufflinks and tells her to get Matt back. I can't, she cries, he
wants honesty, and it will break his heart. Michael says not to tell
him. They deserve to live with the guilt anyway. Donna says she can't
lie. Michael says that she lies better than anyone he knows. He tells
her that it's over. Donna says that she deserves someone as awful as
she
is. Michael says that their old groove was no good. Donna says it was
comfortable. Michael tells her she's just scared of a new life. She
leaves, and in the car, cries and tries to call Matt. She hits a tree.
