Joe wakes up -- uh oh, Paulina's not next to him. Not to worry, she's
in
the bathroom. He decides to help her shower. After that, she promises
she'll be with him forever. Hearing that, he proposes. Unfortunately,
this time he wants her to get a divorce *before* he marries her. Oh,
suddenly he has standards. Macho Man Joe decides that he is the one
who
should tell Jake his marriage is kaput, but Paulina decides that she
has
to do it on her own. Meanwhile, she's crying. Joe wonders if it's
about
Jake. No, just happy.

Nick wants a job at Sassy's, but they don't need any bus boys and he
can't
fill out those skimpy little waitress outfits. Jake overhears this,
and
tells Nick he needs an assistant. First assignment: run over to the
Cory's and find out where Paulina is. Jake offers lots of money, but
Nick
wants to avoid Maggie. Even more and more money isn't sufficient
motivation. He tells Jake about the Maggie situation, and Jake tells
Nick
that sometimes you need to scare women and make them think you've
really
left them to get them back. Nice logic, Jake. They also discuss Vicky
and how she and Ryan lost so much time by fighting before he died.
Jake
waxes poetic about love and Nick tells him he should tell that to
Paulina
instead of playing games.

At the Cory Mansion, Maggie and Pam talk about Nick. Then, Pam asks
Maggie for her sweater because she's going on a date. With who? Oh,
no
one you know. Yeah right. Maggie guesses it's Nick and assures Pam
that
she's not mad. Back at Sassy's, Nick greases up the floor with butter
and
the bus boy trips. Since it's the second time he's fallen, he's fired.

Nick's got the job. Maggie shows up and asks Nick to take her for a
ride
on his motorcycle. Sorry, Mags, I've got a date, and anyway, I hate
you.

Maggie professes to have real, deep feelings for Nick. Pam shows up
and
ignores Maggie, flirting with Nick. Pam and Nick leave with Maggie
begging Nick to stay. Jake tries to talk to Maggie to find out where
Paulina is, but she runs out.

Josie and Gary wake up together, and even though they know they can't
be
late for work, they decide to make love again anyway. At the station,
Gabe
questions Carl about his whereabouts the night of Ryan's murder. He
assures Carl that it's all routine. Carl, not believing that for a
second, especially after Gabe tells him he knows about his past,
nevertheless tells him that he was searching for Rachel and Justine.

Unfortunately for him, there were no witnesses. Gabe wonders what
could
be so traumatizing for Rachel that she can't remember the face of the
killer, unless perhaps, it was her husband. Carl is stunned. Gabe
says
he's just one on a list of suspects. Carl says the list should be
short.

Gabe realizes Carl has someone specific in mind, and asks who. Carl
decides not to tell him. Gabe sees Gary and Josie, yells at them for
being
late, and orders them to compare the tire tracks at the scene to those
on
Grant's car, and to get Grant down to the station. Gary and Josie make
plans to be together again that night.

At his hotel room, Grant remembers that Carl has no real proof against
him. Grant finally pulls himself together and shaves. Marshall calls
and
Grant tells him that he wants his bio in the stores as soon as
possible,
with the dedication to read: "To my brother Ryan, with love and
devotion." SCUM!@!! Grant worries about the button they found at the
trestle, and throws the offending jacket into the fire. When he
arrives
at the station, Gabe asks him where he was the night of the murder.
Grant
is shocked and says that Carl is a lunatic and Gabe can't believe his
accusations. Gabe is surprised -- what accusations? Nevertheless,
where
was Grant? Grant demurs, saying that it's awkward and asking Gabe to
keep
it to himself. Gabe agrees, assuming it won't compromise the
investigation. Grant says that he was with a hooker. Gabe wants the
name, unshocked. Grant says it's Ruby and he picked her up at Sassy's.

Gabe sends Josie to find her. Gary offers to do it for her because
it's a
dangerous neighborhood. Uh, Gar, she's a cop. She'll do it herself.

Gabe thanks Grant for his honesty, but wonders why he needed a hooker
when
he has women falling at his feet. Huh? That's what Grant says too,
who
explains that since his recent humiliation, women have not been falling
at
his feet, and that particular night, he was in need of "warmth and not
small talk." Gabe is worried about him, but less so when Gary
announces
that the tracks don't match his car.
