Update Monday October 16th, 1995

Comments up front: What did Gabe do between leaving the Boston PD

and turning up in Bay City? An implied mystery there. The noose

is closing around Grant's neck. Donna has almost cast Matthew

aside, although she doesn't realize it. She feels that only

Michael can understand what she is feeling.
Uh oh. I think SHE'S BAAAAAACK. Did I miss the spoilers

on this one, or did they finally surprise us???
I'm so glad that Vicky is being strong. Perhaps the

writers feel that we went through enough of a sob fest with

Paulina. Carl, Vicky and Rachel are so generous with Grant that I

can't stand it! We need to send in the Footwear Wedgie Brigade!

Police Station: Josie is missing Ryan. Gary offers her comfort

and a hug. Gabe watches from the doorway. Josie sees him, then

Gary. They become very formal with each other. Gabe asks to speak

to Gary alone. Gary and Gabe actually appears human for a moment

or two, but then he reminds Gary about how Grace died. Gabe does

a song and dance about how everyone hates him for taking Ryan's

place. Gary agrees. Gabe says he wants respect, because then his

officers do a good job. He wants Gary to help him get the respect

of the BCPD. Gary says he can't respect a man who is lying about

Ryan's case being closed.
Officially closed, Gabe says. Gary says he's not buying

that, too many inconsistencies. The angle of the bullet in Ryan's

back, Rachel's position, the coat button, the mystery set of tire

tracks. Gabe is impressed but still contrary. Gary says Justine

shot Ryan, wiped her prints and put the gun in Rachel's hand, then

possibly committed suicide. The mystery car was probably teens

making out-- maybe witnesses.
Gabe still says the case is closed -- except for the two

of them. Gary leaves. Alone, Gabe examines the photograph of

the tire tracks. He writes a that the mystery car is likely

foreign, and expensive.
Later, Josie and Gary meet at the docks. She asks about

McNamara. Gary says he wanted to give him a hard time. Josie is

afraid that he knows about them, but Gary tells her he is now the

new morale officer. Josie complains that they are sneaking

around, Gary says that's okay, he knows what is important. Josie

says she should go home...her mother is getting suspicious. This

could be mistake...it's not a mistake Gary says. He's about to

kiss her when Tibbs arrives. Josie ducks out of sight just in

time. She is upset that they are sneaking around like this.

Donna and Matt's. Donna is upset that Vicky chooses to be with

Jake rather than her family. She calls Michael. Matt is not

pleased. She tells Matt that Vicky should go away for awhile.

Matt says that Vicky will make it through. Michael calls. Donna

says to Michael "No you're not interrupting anything." then she

tells Michael the same thing she was saying to Matt. Matt is hurt

and has become almost invisible to this woman!
After she hangs up, Matt offers her all kinds of comfort,

but she refuses him. FINALLY he gets angry. She used to come to

him for help, now she calls Michael. The phone rings. It's

Amanda...Matt talks to her about the funeral. Donna goes for a

shower. Amanda wants to know when he and Donna are getting

married. Matt asks Donna that question.
Later, Donna comes out of the shower to find Matt gone.

Cory Manse: Vicky tells Grant that Ryan had some last words about

him. Grant does not want to hear. He tells her that now is not

the time--Ryan was dying, and probably not lucid. Vicky insists,

but Grant gets upset. Jake comes in and breaks up the argument.

Grant fusses and won't listen. He takes off.
Jake can't feel much sympathy for Grant. After hiding

Justine while Vicky was in the cellar. Vicky says Ryan believed

in forgiveness, and she must believe it too, she must tell Grant

what Ryan said.
Carl and Rachel discuss the case. Carl knows something

doesn't fit. There is a missing piece. A secret he doesn't know

how to find. Rachel says the clues point to her. Carl says yes,

it is too tidy. She is being framed. They both think Justine is

behind it.
Rachel spies a very upset looking Grant, and then Vicky

approaches telling Grant she must tell him what Ryan said. Carl

overhears, and demands to know Ryan's last words.
Vicky says Ryan asked Vicky to give everyone his love, and

now she would be on her own. Then he said "Tell Grant I forgive

him." Grant looks stricken (as well he might!). Vicky says that

she knows what Ryan meant -- Grant flips at this point, imagining

that Rachel is Justine, hyper- ventilating and almost collapsing.

He is helped to the sofa. Vicky tells Carl that Ryan knew how

much Grant idolized his mother, and that Ryan probably

meant that he forgave Grant for protecting her. She will try to

forgive Grant herself. Ryan forgave her many times. Carl says

it's a tall order, given their history together.
Vicky tells Rachel that Steven will stay with Jamie for a

while longer. He doesn't know about Ryan.
At one point, Rachel asks Jake about his wedding

anniversary. Jake says he's moved out. Rachel is not pleased.
Jake and Vicky leave. Rachel and Carl delay Grant

leaving. Carl wants to speak to him. Rachel excuses herself.

Carl wants to talk about Ryan--Grant is nervous. Some news, Carl

says, but first he apologises for his treatment of Spencer (as

well he should!). The case is closed, Carl says. Grant is

relieved. Carl says he isn't satisfied with the results. He will

find the answers. Carl asks Grant if they can work together to

solve Ryan's murders. It is what Ryan would want. Grant is

almost freaking at this point. Facts and details are there, Carl

says. The placement of the bodies, Carl says, for one thing...how

does Grant think it happened?

Vicky's House: Jake and Vicky arrive. Jake wants to stay, [on

the couch!] but Vicky tells him to go home. Jake reminds her of

all the times she's needed him in the past. She doesn't have to

be tough--but he agrees to leave.
Jake leaves after making Vicky promise to call him if he

she needs him. Bridget brings Kirkland in to Vicky. Vicky says

her heart is empty...what will life be like without Ryan? Bridget

reminds her that she's always taken care of her. Vicky asks

Bridget to promise she'll never leave.

Hospital--(Convent?): An injured woman is lying in a bed as two

nuns discuss her terrible injuries. It is a miracle she

survived--the Lord works in mysterious ways.
We must find out who she is, one of the nuns says.

Someone must be looking for her, replies the Mother Superior. [I

guess these must be cloistered nuns, so of course they won't be

reading papers.]

Cory Manse: Matt arrives at the Cory mansion. He tells Rachel

about Amanda's call, and that Amanda has a message for Carl. Matt

tells Carl that Amanda said she never owned a gun. Carl says that

it was registered in her name...Matt says she didn't buy it. Carl

is very puzzled. Behind him, Grant looks crazed.
