ANOTHER WORLD UPDATE FOR TUESDAY 10/04/94
*---------------------------------------*

RACHEL CARL RYAN
*--------------*

As Rachel talks happily about Paulina's wedding arrangements,
Carl listens, but concentrates on his chess game. They both
agree that the wedding will be a success, and smooch. Rachel
exits to makes calls and go to Paulina. As Ryan comes in, Carl
asks him if he has heard from Vicky. Ryan wants to concentrate
on Carl, who is being talked about at headquarters. He tries
to convince Carl to talk about his counterfeiting past/present/
future, or end up down at the station instead. He shows concern
that this matter could be life-threatening for Carl, as he
confides that a second counterfeit bill was sent to headquarters,
along with a note suggesting Carl and Ryan are involved. Carl
thinks that Ryan should take himself off the case for his own
good. When Rachel comes back, they are mum as to what they are
discussing, she does not pry even though she is slightly upset,
and leaves again to do more wedding preparation.
Carl tells Ryan that he has no idea *why* someone would do all
this, but Ryan does not believe that he doesn't have a clue
*who* would do it. Even though Ryan wants to work together
with Carl on this, Carl will not disclose who he thinks is up
to all this, because he wants to protect Ryan, since this
person might not only be after Carl. They continue to argue,
but to no avail. Carl tries to change the subject, kisses
Ryan's head, and leaves.
Rachel comes back with packages from shopping, as Ryan follows
her in, after being at the Harbor Club. When he tells her that
he is looking for Carl, and she asks him what his concern is,
he asks her if Carl has told her about the setup. Then she
understands why they were being so tightlipped. He declares
that he has to stop Carl from dealing with the situation alone.

PAULINA MORGAN BRETT
*------------------*

Paulina is doing a very good job of playing with a baby, as
Morgan admiringly watches, approaches, and then joins in.
Morgan tells Paulina what a wonderful thing she has done by
donating money to the clinic, and mentions that all the mothers
are calling her an angel. When Morgan takes the baby into the
other room, Brett agitatedly begs Paulina to ask Morgan if he
did in fact propose to her the other day. Paulina thinks that
Brett is nuts, thinks she needs a reality check, and refuses
to be involved in the silliness that she feel Brett and Morgan
should work out between themselves; she thinks that they are
both chicken and in denial. But as Morgan is coming back in,
Brett obviously won't take no for an answer, so Paulina is
left to fend for herself. So she blurts out "Morgan, are you
going to ask Brett to marry you?" After his surprise, he
admits that he likes the concept of marriage, but in the abstract.
He gets Paulina to admit that Brett had mentioned the proposal.
With the usual Paulina wit, she says that Brett wants to know
the name of a good ear doctor, because she thought she
heard Morgan propose the other day. :-)
He says "Gulp," and Paulina smack him around for being a jerk.
She tells him that he should deal with it, and that he and Brett
are both just as "back and forth" on the matter. He is
curious to know if Brett is mad, sad, etc. Paulina says she
is just as crazy as he is, but tells him that Brett loves him
alot, and they should communicate with each other more openly.
He smiles very happily as Paulina leaves.
Back at the apartment, Morgan comes in as Paulina leaves,
after telling Brett roughly what Morgan admitted.
Brett covers that the visit was a shoe drop off for Paulina's
wedding, before the rehearsal dinner that they have to attend.
Before Morgan goes off to take a shower, she casually says to
Brett "Oh by the way, I *did* ask you to marry me the other
day..." Brett's jaw drops.

VICKY BRIDGET DONNA MATT
*----------------------*

Vicky is on the phone, trying to get Ryan to answer again, after
he hung up. She pleads to the air, as the phone rings, that he
should give her a chance to explain, saying that she needs Ryan
and Kirk both. She looks glowing and thin.
When she tries to make a quick exit, Bridget objects because she
feels that it is too risky for her to leave since Grant has Ryan
tailed all the time. But Vicky insists that she must get Ryan back.
When Vicky gets to Donna's, she greets the two of them, who are
both in bathrobes. Vicky gets upset when she finds out from
Matt, who is also annoyed that she hasn't been told, that Matt
and Donna did not just have a fling, but are in fact engaged.
Vicky figures the familial relationships this would cause,
and muses to herself, as they go back upstairs to change, that
she "can't leave these people alone for a minute."
When they come back down, Matt tells Vicky that she is not
doing the right thing by running, and not giving Grant his
parental right, and Kirk his chance to know his father -- the
same thing she originally did to Jaime. He states that she is being
selfish, and also informs her that she has probably waited too long
to come back in relation to Ryan. At first Vicky is very outraged
that Matt has dared to speak this way, but Donna reluctantly agrees
with him, because he is right. Vicky also concedes that he is right,
as she leaves, and indicates that she will be back.
Donna calls Matt the "man of her dreams."
Vicky goes back to Bridget and Kirk. Bridget tells Vicky that
Matt is a good influence on Donna, who love him alot.
She also thinks that Vicky has jeopardized her relationship with
Ryan by not communicating. When Bridget leaves, Vicky confides
in Kirk that she has a great plan to get Ryan back.

EVAN TRENT BRETT CARL!
*--------------------*

As Trent comes downstairs, Evan is absorbed in his computer
chess game, trying to outwit Carl, by figuring out his strategy.
Trent tries to get Evan to realize that they may be in danger
of being caught, since Ryan is on the case, and is known for
being successful in his cases. Nothing seems to stir Evan, who
reminds Trent that he would be on his own if he slips up.
He reminds Trent that as long as they are the only two people
who know the details of the sting operation, no one will be the
wiser. Trent exits, and Evan goes back to his computer.
Brett pays a visit to Evan to discuss the house plans. When she
indicates that she thinks the house is for a bachelor, Evan
corrects her by telling her he has intentions of having a female
companion. When Brett tells him that this idea would not alter
the plan of the house, and that she can come in under cost, Evan
writes her an initial check for $15,000, says that he will expect
to live there by Valentine's Day, and does not wish to second-
guess her architectural know-how.
Trent comes back from the Hargbor Club and tells Evan that he has
signed Josie to contract, so they will be rid of Ian shortly.
Evan wants Carl busted ASAP. Carl shows up, surprising Evan.
FREEZE FRAME...

IAN JOSIE SPENSER TRENT
*---------------------*

At the Harbor Club, Ian is in an uncharacteristically good mood, and
Josie wants to know why *now*, but Spenser comes in and pulls Ian
away to tell him that he has decided to sell Ian 1/2 the Harbor
Club, which he acknowledges might have been lost due to Spenser's
gambling. He tells Ian that he deserves it, and that he will
treat him better in the future.
Meanwhile Trent talks to Josie alone, convincing her to start her
ultimately successful career, by signing a contract with him.
So she goes for it, despite her reservations about Ian's approval.
When Spenser and Ian return, Josie mentions that she has a
surprise to share also. But Ryan pulls Ian aside to talk.
He wants Ian to help save Carl's life by trying to get friendly
with Lila, who he suspects is connected to the counterfeiting plot.
He wants him to find out who she is working for.
When Ryan leaves, Spenser tells Josie the good news about Ian, and
explains why he deserves it.
When Ian and Josie are finally alone, she tells him about her
contract, and he seems fine with it.
