Jake and Lila spot Vicky gratefully embracing Shane as
they stand beside Kirkland's hospital bed. Rachel confronts
her husband with the card and gift addressed to Hadley.
Though he denies that he's been seeing another woman, a
baffled Carl is at a loss to explain how the package made its
way into the house. Shane urges Vicky to go home and get
some much needed rest. When she objects to leaving her
son, Shane offers to spend the entire night in Kirkland's
room. Grant's stubborn refusal to let her share his pain
wounds Cindy, whose day gets even worse when Joe
confides how grimly determined he is to track down the
scum who provided Paulina with amphetamines. Toni drags
her trembling prisoner over to the railroad tracks and forces
him to his knees. With an oncoming train fast approaching,
a terrified Chip finally confesses to the rapes. Carl swears
to Rachel he has never heard of Hadley Prescott, then
speculates that Alexander might somehow be behind the
ruse. Meanwhile, Amanda nervously explains to Alexander
why she has to drop out of their dangerous game. Grant
hints to Lila that he knows a way for her to recapture Shane
and for him to obtain sole custody of his son. Chris and
Gary arrive at the rail shack just as Josie and Toni begin
reading Rayburn his rights. Alexander cajoles Amanda into
playing Hadley a while longer. Vicky asks Jake to spend
the night with her but an emergency intrudes once again.
