Grant listens as John reluctantly tells Vicky that though Ryan has
survived the surgery, his prognosis isn't good. If not death, then
definitely paralyzation. Grant just wants to know if Ryan came to and,
uh, said anything about who shot him. No, they console him, Ryan never
regained consciousness.

Gary tells Carl he needs to question Rachel to find out if Justine was
the
one who shot Ryan. Carl angrily insists that she was the one as Grant
uneasily eavesdrops. Meanwhile, Vicky is totally distraught.

Felicia consoles John and tells him to take it easy. Lorna intrudes on
their conversation, saying that the tide of bad press has turned to
good
press since he saved Ryan's life, at least for the time being. John is
not happy with her.

In Rachel's room, her hair is pulled back, so Maggie mistakes her for
Justine. Rachel is upset that everyone has so much trouble telling
them
apart. Maggie leaves and Grant takes another step in his cover-up,
visiting Rachel. He babbles on, apologizing about Justine and talking
about Ryan until he realizes that not only doesn't she know that Ryan
has
been shot, but she doesn't remember anything that happened on the
trestle. He's in the clear, so long as Ryan doesn't live. Carl walks
in
on them with Gary and they throw Grant out. Grant tells Gary that when
Justine's remains are found, he wants them treated with respect -- ugh.

Rachel tells Gary that she doesn't remember anything. She tells Carl
how
sorry she is about Ryan. Carl tells her that he believes Ryan will be
OK
-- after all, he has Vicky to live for.

Michael thanks John for helping him go into remission.

Josie and Gary wonder why Rachel's prints were all over the gun. Will
they arrest her? Gary snaps at Josie and tells her to get the bullet
they
took out of Ryan analyzed. She later finds him at a bar, about to
drink a
beer. She tells him not to feel guilty about Ryan -- it was partly her
fault that Justine got past him. He tells her that she is the only
thing
he wants more than a beer. Well, then, she'll take him somewhere where
he
can have her -- the barn. At home, John is upset. The phone rings --
it's Sharlene.

Felicia decides to help Lorna with the fundraiser and talks to Frankie
about her miscarriage.

Vicky keeps vigil by Ryan's bedside. She tells him that he is what
kept
her alive when she was in the dungeon and now she will do the same for
him. She begs him to come back to her and apologizes for having fought
with him.

Nick and Maggie have a little discussion. She wants to go out for a
bite
with him. Why? So afterwards she can run back to Tomas? He tells her
that after what happened to Ryan, he's not playing anymore baby games.
She
can choose between them soon, or he'll decide for her. Then he kisses
her.

Grant goes into Ryan's room after Michael and Donna have made her take
a
break. He blames Ryan for the shooting: Why did you aim your gun at
Justine? Didn't you know I would do anything to stop you? Switching
gears, he says he didn't mean to hurt him and that he could have
reasoned
with Justine. "Nobody knows I shot you, but I will have to live with
it
for the rest of my life. I'm sorry." As he's about to leave, that
heartbeat starts again, and Ryan's voice says, "I know, I know."
