Here is the Another World update for Tuesday, September 26, 1995.

All the action today was at the hospital. As usual, I apologize
for any errors or omissions.

Gary is holding a press conference regarding Ryan. His condition
is critical and other than that, the investigation is ongoing.

Lorna enters and the press asks her about news regarding the
little boy. She tells them that there is a service scheduled for
Thursday.

Gary is talking to Josie. He tells her she did a good job
finding the gun. Josie asks about Ryan. He tells her there is
no change and that he missed her last night. He then directs her
to check out the tracks and see how the investigation is going.

Carl is on the phone to the specialist. Grant comes in and asks
about Ryan. Carl tells him that if anything happens to Ryan, it
will be on his head.

Jake and Donna are outside Vicky's room discussing Ryan. Vicky
still doesn't know about Ryan, Donna wants her to be a bit
stronger before she is told. Vicky comes out of her room and
wants to see and talk to Ryan. She may have information that
will help his investigation. Donna and Jake look guilty, and
Vicky asks Donna and then Jake where Ryan is.

We see Ryan in surgery. John, Morgan, Courtney and others are in
attendance. He is being prepped. We learn that there is nerve
damage and that the bullet is dangerously close to the spinal
cord. Everyone is talking to Ryan, who is unconscious,
encouraging him to live.

Vicky is starting to cry. Jake, where is he? Something has
happened, he should have been back by now. Jake, tell me. Donna
encourages them to go back into Vic's room. Jake takes Vic in a
hug and pulls her into her room. Donna watches through the door
as Jake tells Vic the news (note: we do not hear what Jake says
to her). We hear Vicky anguished scream - Matt comes up behind
Donna and takes her into his arms as we listen to Vicky scream
and Donna starts to cry. Why is this happening? She questions.

Grant is pretending that he knows nothing and persuades Gary to
tell him the story. Gary questions Grant. He tells Grant that
they suspect that Justine is dead and then asks Why would Justine
want to kidnap Kirkland and why would she want to shoot Ryan?

Grant questions why he thinks that Justine did it? Carl
interrupts to say of course Justine did it, who else is capable
of doing it?

Maggie, Pam and Shelly are talking about Justine and how unfair
it was that no one told her anything. Tomas comes in. He heard
that Rachel is fine and that they are bringing in a specialist
for Ryan. Tomas and Maggie embrace and kiss.

Vicky is still screaming and fighting to get to Ryan. Nick,
Mike, Donna and Matt all enter the room and try to comfort her.

Mike tells her that Ryan is strong, he will be all right. She
needs to believe. Mike has news of his own, his test results are
back.

Carl asks Gary if he believes that Justine is dead. He tells
Carl that they found more bloody clothes and that they are still
looking for her. He believes that she is dead. Carl tells Gary
that Justine has already died twice and points out that they do
not have a body.

Lorna is doing her best to do damage control. She sends Maggie
to her office with some papers to telex out and Felicia to do
press control. The specialist enters and John brings him up to
speed. They have found the bullet lodged in the spinal cord.

The specialist leaves to take over the surgery. John assures
Carl that the specialist is the best there is to which Carl
replies, "He better be." John is left by himself as everybody
goes abut their business. He goes into one of the offices and
Felicia follows him. She asks if there is anything she can do.

Meanwhile, Josie is back from the tracks - they found more bloody
clothes and tells Gary that the prints on the gun are Rachel's.

Gary suggests that they run the tests again and that they keep a
lid on the information. We see Grant skulking around the
hospital listening to all the conversations.

John and Felicia discuss Ryan and how if he does survive, it will
be as a paraplegic. Felicia tells John that he is burnt out and
suggests a rest when this is all over. John says he wants to do
something that doesn't involve blood. Felicia tells him that he
will never leave medicine. They discuss similarities between
their jobs (meaning the adrenaline rushes when things are
happening, whether it is the story is going good or you are in
surgery). John thanks Felicia for cheering him up, he is going
back to the OR. He asks Felicia to stick around, it is good to
know she is there.

Cass and Frankie have arrived. Lorna approaches Grant and starts
to offer sympathy, but seems to think better of it. Frankie
approaches Grant and tries to talk to him, but breaks down and is
led away by Cass.

Laurie comes in and is complaining about not having the autopsy
results. Cass approaches Morgan about the test results, but
Morgan refuses to help him. He feels that Cass is using him to
get to the other doctors.

Mike tells everyone gathered that he is fine, his lukemia (sp?)
is in remission and he owes it all to Nick. They are holding a
vigil for Ryan in the chapel and he suggests that they go there.

Laurie approaches Morgan and asks about the autopsy. Lorna
explains that the physician of record usually gets to read it
first and John has been in surgery all day. Dana asks that the
rules be lifted in this case. Lorna agrees to do what she can.

Morgan assures Laurie that the doctors did all they could for
Ben. Laurie asks him, then why did Ben die?

Courtney won't look Laurie in the eye. Laurie asks her why and
starts to make yet another scene. Cass intervenes and tells her
that she isn't helping. Laurie tells him that she knows that
these people are his friends, but she needs his help.

Jake approaches Joe and tells him that now that Justine is gone,
he can leave them alone.

Cass asks Joe is anyone has seen Frankie. Joe says that he has
been busy, he has no idea where she is.

Maggie and her friends are giving the blood donors cookies and
OJ. Nick comes in and tells her that the transplant worked.

They discuss how Nick feels that he saved Mike's life.

Frankie turns up in the Maternity ward, checking out the babies
and crying over her miscarriage. Cass arrives, they discuss the
miscarriage and Ryan. Frankie is very upset.

Vicky and Mike are alone, praying for Ryan. Mike tells Vicky
that he is grateful for everyone helping him and being strong,
now pray for Ryan. Vicky says the doctors told her he may be
paralyzed. She tells him about her and Ryan's last fight and
asks Mike to take her down to the OR so she is there when Ryan
comes out. He is gong t get a wheelchair for her - and instructs
Vic to put her mind on a miracle.

Dana and Cass read the autopsy. There is nothing there that
makes grounds for a malpractice suit. They tell Laurie that
there is no case for criminal negligence and that there is
nothing further that she can do. She also tells her that there
may be grounds for a civil case, it is up to her to decide what
to do.

Gary approaches Grant and tells him there is no news. Grant asks
if Rachel is talking and Gary tells him that she isn't and that
they won't question her until she is feeling better. Vicky
enters and lays into Grant - did he know all about Justine and
why didn't he do anything? Carl tells all that the man is a
liar. He was hiding Justine. While you were in the cellar, he
and his mother were planning a life with Kirkland. We see
shocked faces on Vic, Donna and Mike.

Cass tells Laurie she isn't playing fair, she only wants Cass to
take the case, no one else. She doesn't think she can do it
without him. She begs him to help her.

Grant tells everyone assembled that he didn't think she would go
this far. he thought he could help her. Carl continues to call
him a liar. Vicky tells Grant that she hates him. Gary suggests
that Grant wait downstairs, but before he can leave, John enters.
"It's over." He says.

The FREEZE FRAME is Grant in foreground, with Vicky, John and
Mike looking on from a distance.
