Hoo hoo. A day late. Fergot the thingy at home!

AW Update for Monday September 18, 1995

A pretty good day--lots of angst and shouting. Ryan is
getting desperate. Rachel is experiencing some fallout from
JustInsane's plots. Gary and Josie are swapping blame
instead of spit. Grant is finally suffering some kind of
remorse, but of course, not accepting the blame. Matt is
experiencing some insecurity, and Michael and Donna are acting
like an old married couple. Except for the big snooze of
Joe and Paulina. Why are they beating this dead horse?

Paulina's House: Joe and Paulina are having dessert after
their meal. The doorbell rings. It's Matt. No word on
Vicky, he says. Matt and Michael are 'bonding', he says.

He's afraid he's losing her. Joe says Matt has to let Donna
do what she wants. Matt assumes Joe and Paulina are back
together. Paulina says that she has forgiven Jake, and that
the amnesia is real. Matt doesn't believe it until Joe says
it's true. Matt says he hopes things work out. Joe is here
to protect her. He's on the police force again. They
discuss Rachel's condition and Justine. Rachel seems good,
glad to be home, Paulina says. Joe comes in and says that
Justine is still in Bay City and totally off the deep end.
Paulina is trying to read, but can't stay interested.

Joe tries to get close, by Paulina is not cooperating.

Paulina asks Joe why he became a cop again. He quit the
force in New York to come home, he tells her, but discovered he

loved being a cop.

Jake should be home soon, Paulina says. He shouldn't be

out there trying to find Vicky singlehandedly. And Jake might get
himself killed, Joe adds. He promises he'll be in his car,
watching out for her. Dinner was great. Go to bed, he'll
lock up, he says. Paulina is going to take him a pillow and
blankey, but changes her mind.

Michael's Farmhouse: Donna is cleaning the farmhouse in
case of germs. Nick is afraid of losing him, she says.

Relax, Michael says. Donna says she can't, or she'll fall
apart. Michael hugs her. She continues cleaning, nervously
as they wait for a call from the "kidnappers". Michael says
they'll hear from Vicky. She's going to be fine. Donna
suggests that Marley be notified, but Michael says no.

Nick arrives and ties Poochie to the porch. He goes in
and overhears about Marley in San Francisco. Nick says
Marley should be told about this. Donna reminds him that
he's only been in the family for a few months. Nick says
Marley will freaked out by the news if she gets here and
then finds out. She should be warned ahead of time. They
agree. Donna goes to clean some more.
Michael is trying to raise cash for the ransom. Nick
says he should be in the hospital. When Donna spies the
dog, she demands that Nick take it away. He agrees, and

Donna goes off to feed the chickens.
Michael is on the phone explaining about his "escape"
from the hospital. John is obviously upset. Michael
insists he's fine, and hangs up. Donna comes back from the
hen house, looking like "The Chicken Lady". Wait till you
slop the hogs, Michael laughs.

Cory Manse: Carl brings Rachel some food on a tray. It's
all so romantic, but Rachel imagines Carl in Justine's arms.
Felicia arrives for a visit. Carl says he's concerned about
Rachel, that she's not sure of who she is. Art is
therapeutic, Felicia says. Not now, Carl replies. It will
probably be some time before she sculpts again.

Grant's Apt: Grant realizes that Justine has indeed taken
Kirkland. Grant confronts Gary asking him where he was when
Kirkland disappeared. Gary says that he was "called away".
Grant shouts, "This is all your doing!" in typical Grunt
fashion. Josie has overheard, and she knows that she's
partly responsible. Gary calls the station and reports what
has happened. They argue about who is more to blame. Gary
says it is his fault, she says it is hers. It's like
drinking, he says. It's not all his fault, Josie says.

He'll go down alone, he says, and tells Josie to get lost.

She goes.

Police station: Ryan has issued an APB for Grant, and
assigns cops all over town to search for Grant, Justine and
Kirkland.

Justine's House: Grant runs in, shouting. He's looking for
Justine and Kirkland. "We can leave Bay City, no one will
find us," he promises, "I want to help you." Grant is in
tears [big fat hairy deal]. Grant can't find Justine in the
house. He hears a child. No, it's a doll. He finds
Kirkland's clothes. Now he's worried that Justine may have
hurt Kirkland [a-duh].

Grant's apt: Ryan is tearing a bloody strip off Gary. He's
really pissed! Who did you see? Gary tells Ryan about the
cleaning lady, and that Grant said "she took my son". Ryan
tells Gary that if he wasn't short of manpower he'd have his
badge immediately and permanently. I thought you were a
better cop than this! Fibres from a white wig are found.

"Surprise." Ryan says.

Cory Manse: Rachel is very happy to see Felicia. Felicia
begins to compare Rachel to Justine, but stops. "I'm glad
you're back, she says. Felicia discusses adventures at
Wallingfords. Carl arrives with goodies, and then takes a
phone call from Ryan. Ryan wants Carl to come to Grant's.

He leaves.
How did Justine fool them all? Rachel asks. Felicia
says she looked like her, sounded like her. And I was
distracted by problems with Lorna, she says. Rachel says
that Justine poisoned Lorna. Felicia says that makes sense.

Rachel says that Justine has done so much damage--what else
is she going to do?
Take it one day at a time, Felicia says. Felicia
offers to stay until Carl comes home, but Rachel says to go
on home. Felicia leaves.
Rachel is deeply troubled by thoughts of Justine in her
bed.

Docks: Matt is "thinking" and Josie arrives. Matt asks her
what the problem is. Josie says she pushed so hard that
someone she cares about got hurt. She may have screwed up
being a cop. Josie asks about Donna. Matt says she's
coping, with Michael. Josie suddenly remembers that she saw
Grant here at the docks and that he was at Huntington House,
too. She races back to the Police Station.

Grant's Apt: Ryan blames himself for allowing Grant to keep
Kirkland. Now he realizes that Vicky should have known
about Justine, if only to protect herself. Grant is
covering up for his mother, Carl says. You can't be
prepared for betrayal like that. Ryan says he has no
mother, no brother. Justine only cared about Grant, Ryan
says, I'm her son, too. Carl says "No. You are MY son."
[WAHHHH...*sniffel* We KNOW what's coming!!!]

Police Station: Josie tells Gary about Grant being at
Huntington House. She's off to tell Ryan about the house.

Grant's Apt: Josie arrives and tells Ryan about Huntington
House. Grant was looking to buy a house to "make a home for
his son."

Justine's (Huntington House): Grant is totally wigged out.

Hugging his son's clothing he is lying on the floor,
whispering "Kirkland..." FREEZE FRAME.
