AW: Monday Sept 4, 1995

Vicky's: Ryan arrives at Vicky's only to find Bridget
collapsed and Kirkland crying. He calls 911.

Bay City General: Bridget arrives at emergency & Ryan
demands help for her. Courtney tries to put Ryan off,
saying there isn't room. John takes over, and gives
Courtney trouble because the elderly are at particular
risk during a heat wave.
Carl arrives looking for Maggie. He was told she
was injured. Tomas overhears just as Nick carries
Maggie into the emergency ward.
Morgan starts to give Ben a needle, but he is
stopped by Ben's mother, Laurie, who says that Courtney
already did that. Morgan is shocked. Laurie is
freaking, saying Ben could have been overdosed.

Courtney forgot to sign off the injection.
Marshall, Felicia and Lorna arrive to give blood.
John tells a news reporter to leave the hospital staff
alone to do their work, and the reporter starts looking
for "dirt" to air. Lorna runs interference between the
reporter and Laurie who want's to tell what almost
happened to Ben. Lorna gives the standard "everything
is cool" press release. Matt is sceptical.
Ryan hands Kirkland off to Felicia so he can see
to Bridget.

Michael's Hosp. Room: Donna is reading poetry to
Michael from a book he "just happened" to give to Donna
on their first anniversary, inscription and all.

O'er the hills and far away
     Beyond their utmost purple rim
Beyond a night, across the day
     Throughout the world
     She followed him...

     [BWAAAAH *sniffle*]

Suddenly he gets chills. Donna calls for help.

Ryan and Carl fib to Bridget about Vicky's
whereabouts. Ryan says Vicky is in Lassiter. Once
away from Bridget, Ryan tells Carl that Vicky is
probably in trouble. He explains about the tape and
Vicky's "request" that Grant have Kirkland. Carl says
Vicky would rather "drink acid" than give Kirkland to
Grant. They suspect that Justine has taken Vicky.
Tomas, Mags & Nick fuss over her ankle. She is
whining. When Tomas leaves, she kneads Nick's leg for
a few minutes. (Hey! It's Her Ankle!)
Tomas becomes an interpreter for an Hispanic
patient while Nick & Maggie have eyeball sex. John is
impressed with Tomas's cool head and quick action.
John gritches all over Courtney for not signing
her charts. John is feeling the pressure and is
hollering at everyone. Felicia watches, concerned.
Donna tells John that Michael is having chills. When
John checks on Michael, Matt tries to get Donna to calm
down and go home. Ryan arrives and tells Donna about
Bridget. Donna leaves to check on Bridget.

Matt overhears John wondering how Michael ever got
a bacterial or viral infection considering the
precautions that have been taken. Matt realizes that
he is the only one who went in without a mask and gown.

He tells John what he did. John is upset. Matt says
he didn't have a cold or anything. John walks away,
angry.
Donna speaks to Bridget and finds out that Vicky
has "left town".

Felicia is singing "Gershwin" to Kirkland. Lorna
sees them together and is touched Felicia says she
never had the chance to sing to Lorna when she was a
baby. They gab/joke about mother/daughter smothering
and Felicia says she realizes that Lorna is making a
comeback after taking care of the KBAY reporter.

Courtney is on the roof. Morgan comes out and
tries to cheer her up. Courtney feels she is really
blowing it big time. She tells him that her boyfriend
dumped her. Morgan tells her about Brett, and how he
almost trashed his whole career because of it. She
wasn't worth his career, he says. Courtney is cheered
up.
Tomas and John talk about Tomas becoming a
paramedic. John says Tomas will be a good paramedic
and a good doctor (prolly by Christmas).

Nick is talking to Michael. He tells him about
Maggie and how much he could go for her. Big time, he
says. Michael is not responding. Nick pleads with
Michael to keep fighting. Donna comes in with some
music to play for him. It is a sixties song that holds
a special memory for her and Michael. She gets all
teary and leaves, taking Nick with her.
     Donna goes to see Kirkland.

Ryan and Carl discuss Vicky. They were fighting,
Ryan says and he didn't kiss her goodbye. "Never let
despair rise to the top" Carl says. It is Ryan's skill
as a detective will help them find Vicky, Carl tells
him. Carl asks Ryan to come home to the Cory manse and
have some supper. Shepherd's pie, he says. Ryan
refuses, saying he's going home because he needs to be
close to Vicky.

"I can't get through this without you, Dad" Ryan
says.
"You never have to, dear boy." Carl replies and
kisses Ryan's cheek. [WAHAHAHAHAHAHaaaaa*sniffle*sniffle* I

love these two together]
Tomas, Maggie & Nick (and two friends of Maggie's)
are lamenting the end of their pool party. Nick says
it's too bad Tomas has to rush home to babysit. Carl
arrives and spirits Maggie off home.

Final scenes to the tune of Gershwin's "Someone To
Watch Over Me"
Felicia brings John a sandwich and milk. She says
she's concerned about John being overworked, and feels
he needs something to eat. He has no choice but to
work, he says, the city is in crisis. And Sharlene's
and Gregory's absence bothers him, too, he says. He
says thanks for the meal and the pep talk. She leaves.
John looks at Sharlene's picture while Felicia looks
misty outside his door (uh-oh).
Matt and Donna sit with Kirkland in the hospital.

Ryan is in despair over the missing Vicky.

Looks like the heatwave is over. Courtney and
Morgan are standing in the rain on the roof.
