ANOTHER WORLD UPDATE FOR TUESDAY 09/20/94
*---------------------------------------*

RYAN LORNA
*--------*

At a diner, Ryan is consulting with a waitress(?), who has not seen
Vicky. He gives her him phone number if she does see her, and
mentions that anything that they say will be between the two of
them. She says "You must really love her to come all this way."
He thanks her for her time.
Ryan sits down at a table, plays with the ketchup, etc. and looks
longingly at a picture of him and Vicky. Lorna comes up to his
table from nowhere, and unconvinced that he is looking for
counterfeit money, asks what he is going to do when he finds her -- Vicky.
When Ryan quizzes Lorna on what she happens to be doing in NYC,
she tells him that Spencer told her -- Ryan books the same hotel
room every time. She divulges that she knows that he's been all
over town talking to hotel employees. He still wants to know why
she is there. She confesses that she thinks he is tenacious, and
honest, as she pleads with him not to let Vicky tear his heart out
yet again.
Back with Ryan again after he has checked a bunch of hotels,
Lorna apologizes about her Vicky speech before. Ryan indicates
that he will risk heartbreak again for Vicky. They commiserate
about their messed up families -- he, Carl, Grant; her -- Jenna.
Lorna tells Ryan that she cares alot about him, despite his
feelings about his having a future with Vicky when she comes
back. He reminds her that he and Vicky were very close, and that
she left for the sake of her child.
Ellen the waitress(?) comes in and tells Ryan that she has
seen Vicky, and Lorna runs off behind Ryan.
Ryan knocks on the door of Vicky's hotel room, as Grant hides
around the bend waiting, without Ryan knowing. We see the inside
of the room, and a door on the opposite side slam; Ryan starts to
come in.

MARSHALL FRANKIE CASS
*-------------------*

Marshall comes to Felicia's door, flashes back to his first awkward
kiss with Felicia, and smiles at the memory.
Frankie and Cass round the hall corner, mention that the doors have
opened downstairs and that Felicia's copious fans are flooding in.
Cass wonders if Felicia has overslept, as Marshall points out that
there's no answer. Frankie bangs on the door, telling Felicia to
wake up or she'll be late for her big speech, still receiving no
response. They speculate that maybe they all crossed paths, and
that she might already be downstairs in the dining room, so they
split up and ago look for her. Cut to inside of Felicia's room,
where we see an empty bottle of liquor on the floor, next to a rose.
They still can't find her, and her fans are clamoring at this
point. Although they know that she is notoriously late for many
things, they theorize that she would never keep her fans waiting.
But Frankie reminds Cass and Marshall that her fans have never
been hostile before the shock of Felicia's semi-retirement
>from the Romance genre which was announced last night. Therefore,
they speculate that maybe she walked off with a case of nerves.
So before Cass and Frankie go look for Felicia yet again, they
convince a nervous and doubtful Marshall to keep the crowd
preoccupied with a speech about the publishing industry.
As he goes up to the podium, and begins his "Books Are Our Friends"
speech, the unimpressed crowd looks bored and angry...
Frankie turns to Cass, after having one of her famous premonitions,
and says "Something's not right."
Convinced that Felicia has disappeared, they don't want to alert
the manager, for fear of word spreading to the press. Frankie
does her usual picking of the locks, enters and they see that she
has been drinking because of the bottle on the floor.
Unimpressed by Marshall's speech, the crowd starts to chant
"We want Felicia;" Marshall gives up. When Cass and Frankie discuss
her drinking problem, Marshall tries to justify her
actions by explaining that she would want to be there. Cass
and Frankie counter that this is typical alcoholic escape from
pressures, and remind him that she almost took a drink last night.
This time Cass goes to talk to the fans to inform them that
Felicia will not appear due to family emergency.
Meanwhile Frankie talked to the bartender from last night, and
Marshall checked a nearby liquor store. Frankie tries to contact
Judy, as Cass speculates that maybe Felicia went to a motel
out of embarrassment. Marshall confesses that he is afraid that
he caused all this by putting too much pressure on her to do
something that her audience dislikes. Frankie fails to talk to
Judy, but is pretty sure that the odds are in favor of a relapse.
They agree not to look in the bars, because they would only
find her there drunk. Although Marshall tries to make excuses
for her behavior, Cass and Frankie convince him that the best
course of action would be to do nothing, because if she wants to'
remain sober, she has to do it for herself, not others.
So they all agree to wait, hope, and pray.

FELICIA WACKY-WALTER
*------------------*

In an unknown place, Felicia is lying unconscious on a
sofa, as she has a nightmarish dream about dancing with
Marshall; the music distorts, and lighting gets strange, as
she sees Marshall alternate with an unknown man in a pirate suit;
she gets more and more distressed, as Marshall disappears, and she
left swirling with this unknown man. Felicia wakes up in a sweat,
blurry-eyed, not recognizing where she is, stands up, walks, and
falls on the floor, again unconscious.
As Felicia gets up off the floor, she starts to remember that
someone had come up from behind and drugged her. She bangs on
the door to get out, and is very happy when "Walter from the
Mailroom" enter. Thus starts AW's version of Misery/Psycho :
When she tells him how nice he is, and asks him to help her get out,
Walter explains that he is the one who brought
her here. As she remembers that he was the one who asked for her
autograph after she left the convention, she suddenly also recalls
that he was the one who grabbed her, and gets very scared.
Bewildered, she wonders what this is all about and what he wants
with her. Trying not to lose it, she maintains control enough to
point out that she is expected at the seminar, that her fans
will be waiting, and that she shouldn't disappoint them, and asks
him to let her go because she is feeling better.
In a jovial, sweet way, Walter explains that all her fans are very
concerned about her, and that she needs rest because she is
too exhausted to write a good romance novel, this being the only
good reason that she would turn her back on her fans. When Felicia
tries to explain why she can't write romance anymore, Walter
continues his crazed smiling denial, telling her that he is
helping her get back on track by keeping her here.
Seeing that arguing won't get her anywhere, Felicia starts to
agree with Walter that the tough year took alot out of her.
Walter mentions [this should convince all of us that TPTB
might be lurking!!!] that he and other fans exchange email about
her, and that she even has her own group on a computer bulletin
board. As Felicia tries to lunge for the door, Walter stops her
as he explains that he became directionless after hearing of her
writing change. But he smiles at the thought that things will
improve once she rests there and he helps her return to her genre.
Felicia gets very argumentative, pleading that she wants to go
home. Walter states that it wouldn't be safe for her,
because she need rest and recuperation, and that he wants to help.
As she sees his benevolent smile, and gives up for now, agreeing
that she needs rest. As he leaves, he reassures her that he would
never do anything to harm her.
When he is gone she stares off into space with a face fill of
desolation. FREEZE FRAME.

MORGAN BRETT
*----------*

Morgan enters Cass & Frankie's house to see Brett playing with
Charlie. Brett sees the suspiciously "new" Morgan "amazement"
face, and wants to know what it's about, having gone down a list of her
familiar Morgan faces. He tries to plead the 5th Amendment,
ducking out of elaboration, when Brett threatens to eat his donut
-- too much for him to take. So he fesses up that he feels
different about babysitting -- happy, comfortable, happier than
he's been in his whole life.
Morgan has seen himself as a "guy's guy," who only thought about
babies in a medical context; but now he feels that his values are
changing due to his happiness when feeding Charlie. He confides
that he thought that Brett looked wonderful with Charlie, when he
walked in the door, which made him feel like he is turning into
"the sensitive male." Brett agrees that she feels that same change
herself. They wonder if they have hit a domestic iceberg --
whether this is just Charlie, or something bigger.
Just as they are about to address the issue of "us" and "babies,"
Evan calls offering Brett a possibility of landing a job as
architect for his soon-to-be 2 1/2 million dollar house.
Morgan tells her to go for it, as she scrambles for something
suitable to wear.

GRANT ALLIE AMANDA
*----------------*

At the Cory residence, we see Grant and Amanda kidding around about
having their faces carved on the wedding cake, Mount Rushmore
style. As Amanda tries to discuss such wedding details as
photographs, the band, flowers, etc., Grant fantasizes about a
simple, low-key hitch, but Amanda wants her final wedding to be one
that they can remember when they are 50 or 60. As they start
smooching, Allie bounds downstairs, and they are startled out
of their embrace. Grant kids in an aside about Allie's stomping
being a good alarm system for carried away parents. When Amanda
leaves the room, Allie complains that Stephen has been making more
noise than she has. Grant says that he has reason since his daddy
is far away, and he hasn't seen his mommy in a while; Amanda says
that this is not true, and that he saw her just yesterday.
Grant is taken aback. When Grant starts to fish for more
information as he plays cat's cradle with Allie, she tells him
that Stephen last saw Vicky in Central Park. Allie goes to have
lunch as Grant lunges for the phone to chew out Andrews when he
finds out that he didn't tell Grant that Ryan was in NYC; he
orders a tail. Amanda overhears, is concerned for Grant, who
convinces Amanda that this is his only chance to get his son.
They kiss goodbye, as he runs out for NYC.
