>MANHUNT PARTY
>
> Lucky Lady - Chris arrives with a huge bunch of helium balloons, and
>finds Etta Mae setting out a cake and a few candles and some decorations
>to celebrate Toni's birthday. Chris has a special card and gift, which he
>won't let E-M see. They exchange cheerful banter, but E-M is worried that
>Toni hasn't arrived yet.
>
> Station House - Toni is on the phone with Undercover Josie, who is
>staking out the Mermaid Bar dressed in a borrowed women's guard uniform
>and a wig. Josie's cell phone is full of static, but she manages to tell
>Toni that Chip hasn't arrived yet - go have fun at your dinner, I'll call
>you on your cell phone if anything happens. Josie hangs up, then spots
>Chip approaching and ducks behind a post. Chip glances around warily and
>then enters the bar.
> Tyrone finds Toni in the squad room, wishes her HBD, then reports
>that Dana couldn't get the D.A. to reopen Nick's case based solely on
>Toni's changing her testimony - the D.A. is worried about getting
>reelected if it comes out he convicted the wrong man, and wants the real
>rapist on a silver platter complete with confession before he'll consider
>releasing Nick. Toni says they're tailing another suspect as we speak,
>reassuring Ty that she's not personally involved. Then she invites him to
>her birthday dinner; Ty doesn't want to risk upsetting E-M again after she
>disowned him, but Toni insists she wants him there. The phone rings, it's
>E-M - Toni apologizes for being late, promising to be there soon, with a
>surprise of her own...
>
> Lucky Lady - Toni arrives to find the cake and decorations Chris and
>E-M have prepared. You shouldn't have, she says, but she's pleased. They
>greet her happily - but E-M spots Tyrone and tries to throw him out. Toni
>stops her, hoping they can put their recent troubles behind them. Neither
>E-M nor Chris is ready to forgive Ty. Toni insists that Ty was right,
>Nick didn't rape her. E-M accuses Ty of pressuring Toni to doubt herself,
>which both Ty and Toni deny. E-M is pained by the idea of Toni putting
>herself - and them - through the ordeal of an investigation and trial all
>over again. Toni tries to convince her mom that Ty just made her take an
>objective look at the facts, and now she has to do the right thing, just
>as Ty has been doing. E-M isn't ready to hear it, and walks away. Chris
>suggests Ty should leave, but Ty says Toni had asked him to stay. Toni
>seeks out Chris, and wheedles him into giving her the card he brought. She
>opens it and reads what he wrote, about how proud he was that she'd let
>him be a part of her life at a difficult time. She's touched, and even
>more so when he gives her a beautiful silver bracelet. They embrace, as
>E-M returns angrily to light the candles. Ty offers to help; sure, she
>snaps, you can help by staying out of Toni's life. Ty begs her to trust
>Toni's judgment; after the trial, Toni had started to remember things that
>weakened the case against Nick. I didn't ask Toni to reopen the case, she
>came to me, says Ty - and you know she won't rest until she makes things
>right. E-M finally believes him; you raised me to fight for the truth,
>just like Toni, he reminds her, and I'll be there for both of you.
> Meanwhile, Toni has told Chris about their new suspect, but won't say
>who. Her cell phone rings; it's Josie, who reports that Chip is at the
>bar with some friends. Toni is worried, she'd tried to call Josie earlier
>but didn't get any answer; my cell phone died, says Josie, I'm calling
>from a pay phone. Toni offers to be right over, but Josie says nothing's
>happening yet, I'll call you. She hangs up; a young drunk guy staggers in
>and tries to make a move on Josie, who rolls her eyes. She flees to avoid
>attracting Chip's attention, as the guy tries to chase her.
> Chris asks Toni about the call, but Toni can't discuss it. E-M tells
>Toni that she and Ty just had a long talk, and she finally understands
>they're doing what they have to do. Toni is happy to have the four of
>them reunited.
>
> Mermaid Bar - Hiding outside, Josie sees Chip exit, check his watch
>(right wrist), and head off. She dashes to use the nearby pay phone, but
>it's in use, so she starts off after Chip...

>REWRITING HISTORY
>
> Vicky's House - Shane is on Vicky's front sidewalk, making one last
>pitch to get Vicky to come back to him now that he's divorced. Jake
>arrives to swoop her off to a special pre-wedding dinner to "rewrite
>history." She tells him Shane was just leaving; Shane isn't happy about
>it, but he exits [see below]. Jake tells Vicky to go get dressed up,
>he'll wait right here - forever. She can't resist a last glance at the
>departing Shane [must be the tight jeans], but kisses Jake gratefully.
> While she's changing, Sofia has arrived to babysit. She and the kids
>gather painting supplies, as Jake calls the Harbor Club to confirm his
>special arrangements. Looking for posterboard, Steven wants to paint over
>the "Rely on Jake" sign that Jake had made. Jake stops him frantically,
>then explains it represents Bridget's wish that they all have a happy life
>together. He puts it on the mantel. Sofia informs him they're planning a
>surprise, and chases Jake out on the porch to wait for Vicky. Looking
>skyward, he promises Bridget he won't let her down. Vicky emerges,
>looking gorgeous in a long diaphanous gown. Sofia and the boys follow to
>see them off. Jake gives Vicky an orchid corsage, which reminds her of
>their senior prom which they'd skipped to take a joyride to Philadelphia.
>We weren't very traditional back then, they explain (also Jake was too
>cheap to spring for a tux and corsage, Vicky adds), but Jake again
>predicts that tonight they'll rewrite history. They exit [see below].

>
>BATTLING BILLIONAIRES
>
> Cory Mansion - Rachel, holding Gary's report on Alexander Nikos,
>calls Felicia and leaves a message on her machine to call her back. Maybe
>I can stop her before it's too late, she sighs to herself.
> A little later, Shane arrives at the mansion; Rachel and Carl are
>happy he's agreed to help them celebrate their first night out since the
>twins arrived. Shane doesn't want to intrude, but they insist the four of
>them will have fun. Four? Amanda descends the staircase, and Shane
>shakes his head and smiles at the obvious set-up.
> Privately, Shane tells Carl he went to see Vicky, who's still
>determined to marry Jake tomorrow. Jake makes her feel safe and secure,
>he's always been there for her, says Carl, but he senses that Shane and
>Vicky will remain connected, despite Vicky's marriage. She's cut me off,
>won't even look at me, broods Shane, but she won't tell me why. Rachel
>enters and gives Carl a fresh handkerchief - to replace the one with your
>mistress's lipstick, she teases. You're my only mistress, he tells her
>with a fond kiss, as Amanda squirms [see below].
>
>
>
>THIS TOWN REALLY NEEDS ANOTHER RESTAURANT
>
> Harbor Club - Closeup on Felicia's engagement rock - Felicia is
>reading Alexander a fan letter from a man in Ohio who had proposed to his
>long-time sweetie after seeing her movie. Alex looks distressed (knowing
>Felicia will press him for the reason). He "reluctantly" reveals that
>he's learned someone is having him investigated, no doubt it's Carl.
>Felicia looks indignant and disgusted. Later, as they dance, he tells her
>his troubles have melted away in her arms (but they've obviously only
>shifted to Felicia). She's upset at Carl's gall. Alex reminds her, his
>sordid past has been tabloid fodder for decades, Carl is no threat. I'll
>find a way to respond, he adds, which worries Felicia even more; but he
>swears he'd never do anything to jeopardize their love [especially if he
>doesn't get caught, eh?]. Back at their table, he recounts to her the
>litany of scandals that Carl will be able to dig up on him, but that's all
>in the past since I met you. They toast to putting the past behind them.
>
> At another table, Lila sits brooding over her copy of the divorce
>decree and toying with her wedding band.
> Meanwhile, Jake leads Vicky in through a side door with her eyes
>closed. They arrive at a secluded alcove set aside for them; she opens
>her eyes to see the place decorated with lights and shimmering curtains,
>like the prom they'd missed. He puts a tiara on her head, like the prom
>queen she would have been if he hadn't made her miss it back then. All I
>am today is because I wanted the best for you, he declares. But I can't
>be a queen without a king, she protests. Not to worry - he produces a
>crown for his own head, to her delight. He snaps his fingers, and the
>sound of Debby Boone singing "You Light Up My Life" fills the air with
>memories for her. Giggling, she accompanies him to the dance floor -
>where they're greeted by Lila. She wishes them all the best, adding, I'm
>sure Jake told you I had nothing to do with San Dominica. Really, Vicky
>retorts, unconvinced. Really, Lila insists - Shane got his divorce, you
>two are together, everyone got what they wanted. She runs out. Vicky
>needles Jake about being so chummy with his neighbor Lila - after
>tomorrow, Lila will have to find some new friends. They happily resume
>their romantic dance.
> Afterwards, back at their table, they talk about old times in
>Lassiter, how they probably would have been together ever since if they
>hadn't left Lassiter to chase their dreams. Vicky met Marley, ended up
>married to Grant, Jake had focused on getting rich - both had made big
>mistakes, but also loved some wonderful people [Paulina and Ryan come to
>mind - sigh...]. Jake figures they had to go through all they did, to be
>ready for what they have now. He draws her back to the dance floor to the
>sound of her favorite old song. As they dance, lip to lip, Shane and
>company arrive. Shane stares, glowering. Vicky spots him, and pointedly
>remarks that she'll soon be Mrs. Jake McKinnon [cheez - is Frankie the
>only one who ever felt secure with keeping her own name and identity after
>marriage?]. The Cory-Hutchins party take a table, as Vicky tells Jake she
>refuses to let Shane ruin their prom night.
> At their table, Shane asks an obviously miffed Amanda to dance. She
>accepts. As they dance, Shane guesses that Jake means more than just a
>friend to her. That's what Alli wanted - too late now, she chirps,
>spinning around and intentionally colliding with Jake. Jake and Vicky
>laugh it off and keep dancing intimately, and Amanda suggests to Shane
>that they sit out the rest of the dance.
> Meanwhile, Rachel has pointed out to Carl that Felicia is here with
>Alex. He doubts if Gary's report [which Rachel has conveniently brought
>with her????] will sway Felicia's opinion of Alex, but Rachel says she has
>to try.
>
> Alex notes to Felicia that Rachel's on her way over. Rachel chides
>Felicia for not telling her about her engagement. Alex notes curtly that
>she probably isn't here to wish them well. Rachel asks for a moment alone
>with Felicia, and Alex leaves to give them some privacy. Felicia tells
>Rachel not to bother trying to change her mind about Alex. Rachel hands
>her the file and urges her to make that decision all on her own. Rachel
>repeats Carl's suspicion that Alex is only in town to seek revenge against
>Carl, as he proved by trying to mow him down with his car - only Felicia's
>presence saved Carl's life. Felicia scoffs at Carl's ridiculous
>accusations. Rachel urges her to read the file, how can you trust him?
>Felicia considers the file as evidence of Rachel's betrayal of their
>friendship. He's already told me about his checkered past, she says - I
>love him, I'm going to marry him, and as long as you and Carl persecute
>him, I can't have you in my life. [Huh, so much for "I'm warning you,
>Alex, I won't let you come between me and my gal pal Rachel!"] She rises
>and stalks away. Rachel sadly watches her go; Carl notes Rachel's
>distress, decides that coming here was a mistake [duh!], and suggests they
>leave. They exit.
>
> Amanda sees Carl and Rachel leave, glances at Alex at the bar, and
>excuses herself from Bobby [oops, I mean Shane - lucky they have an easier
>time with the switch than I do - I think I liked Bobby better] to head off
>after Felicia. Left alone, Shane goes to the alcove where Vicky awaits
>Jake. He demands to know why she's so angry with him. She icily informs
>him she was there at the hotel in San Dominica. He's stunned - what were
>you doing there? he asks. She scoffs in disbelief - do you really think
>that's the issue? How could you sleep with your wife, then divorce her and
>propose to me - that's SICK! She storms out past him, runs into Jake on
>his way back and drags him out of the restaurant [see below], leaving
>Shane in shock (but with his wheels turning) [see below].
>
> Amanda tracks down Felicia, tells her Alex is looking all over for
>her, then begs her not to give up on Rachel - Carl has filled her mind
>with poisonous lies about Alex. I thought Carl had changed, laments
>Felicia. He acts like it around mom, says Amanda, but - I think he's
>having an affair! Alex appears to check on Felicia. Felicia assures
>Amanda everything will work out all right, then excuses herself to go get
>her purse. Amanda then tells Alex she told Felicia the "Carl's affair"
>story. Good, it'll soon get back to Rachel, nods Alex, then she'll begin
>to doubt Carl instead of Felicia and me. Amanda worries that, although it
>will get Carl out of her life, Rachel will find out it's Amanda's doing.
>She asks Alex if he really loves Felicia; Alex swears he does. Amanda
>wants to wrap this up quickly so as not to prolong Rachel's torment. She
>proposes her next step will be to pay off the Cory pilot to help stage a
>phony "love tryst in the clouds" with Carl and "Hadley Prescott" on the
>Cory jet. Felicia, returning, is puzzled by the sight of their intense
>tete-a-tete.
>
>
>COUPLETS
>
> Vicky's House - Vicky and Jake arrive home, thank Sofia for
>babysitting, and she exits. Vicky says Jake has to go now, it's nearly
>midnight and she doesn't want to risk their seeing each other on their
>wedding day before the ceremony in Lassiter. While they're kissing good
>night, Kirkland runs downstairs whining that he had a scary dream,
>something bad was going to happen. They try to comfort him, then Jake
>hoists him on his back and crawls up the stairs to put him to bed. Vicky
>sighs, spots the "Just Married" sign they'd made, and smiles in
>anticipation.
>
> Lila's Apartment - Shane arrives at Lila's door and begins pounding
>on it, angrily shouting for her to open up. She starts to put on her
>robe, but when she realizes it's Shane, she ditches the robe and answers
>the door in a slinky nightgown. What the hell have you done to me, he
>growls at her, barely restraining his fury. She puts on her innocent,
>baffled expression. FADE TO BLACK.
>
>
>
>Cliffhangers sure aren't what they used to be, eh? Ah, well, that's it
>for another week. Later,
