At the Herald, Jake tries to alleviate some of the
simmering tension between Chris and himself in the
wake of Nick's trial. The publisher's day gets
worse, however, when he discovers that Amanda has
taken over his office. Grant snickers with glee to
see that the results of the latest poll show Donna's
popularity rating plummeting like a stone. Carl gets
the worst of a run-in with Alexander's Rolls Royce
on the grounds of Cory Publishing. After being
treated for cuts and abrasions at the emergency
room, Carl accuses his old nemesis of trying to kill
him. Leaping to defend Alexander, Felicia blurts out
that she's going to marry him. Amanda warns a
bristling Jake that Vicky will drop him like a bad
habit the first time Shane beckons her way. Lila
goes to the Harrisons' place to learn firsthand why
Cindy is trying to keep her away from her attorney.
Grant orders Rusty not to give in to the lure of
easy money if Gary should approach him with an offer
of cash in exchange for dropping his lawsuit. Later,
Felicia is dismayed to find her fiance lunching with
Bay City's most disreputable politician at the
Harbor Club. Lila's second encounter with the wooden
fertility god leaves her once again with the feeling
that the statue is too hot to handle. Chris and Jake
finally air out their differences and get their
friendship back on track. Lila concocts a scheme to
trick Vicky into witnessing a tender scene between
      Dr. and Mrs. Roberts.
