Dreading her upcoming appearance on the witness
stand, Josie clings to Gary, who promises her once
again that Nick's troubles will not come between
them. Carl gives Donna his endorsement plus a large
donation to her campaign. Though Cass cautions Nick
that their case will be seriously compromised if the
Chicago incident resurfaces, Michael assures his son
that Joanne Taylor has agreed not to testify against
him. As the trial resumes, Joe takes the stand to
describe Toni's outstanding record as a police
officer, then asserts his belief that her story
about the rape is true. At the Harbor Club, Grant
quietly orders Rusty to pull out all the stops to
destroy Donna's mayoral hopes. Carl warns Alexander
to stay away from his home and his family. Cass'
rough cross-examination of Josie draws roars of
protest from Gary until the irate judge threatens to
charge him with contempt of court. Felicia
encourages Alexander to mend fences with his
estranged daughter. Later, learning of Carl's
longstanding feud with the leading candidate for
mayor, Alexander approaches Grant with a business
proposition. Joanne's arrival in the courtroom
causes a stir and forces Cass to scramble for time.
