Here is the Another World update for Tuesday, August 29, 1995. A
very hot and humid day in Bay City today. If you get a chance, I
suggest catching the scene between Donna and Mike in the
hospital, definitely one of the best for today!

The first scene is of Matt sleeping. Great legs on this guy! He
is woken by Donna who is home from her shopping trip in New York.

They kiss and Donna tells him that she missed him and assures him
that Mike won't come between them again.

In Lorna's Apartment the radio is blasting. Lorna has just
gotten up and is definitely grumpy in the morning. Felicia
enters the living area (wearing an apron, seems she is doing some
cooking) after turning down the radio. Lorna tells Felicia that
she thinks that it is time for Felicia to move home. She doesn't
need anyone to take care of her. Felicia insists that Lorna
needs her.

Tomas is feeding Lu her breakfast and getting her ready for the
day. Maggie enters and her and Tomas cuddle and kiss. Neither
one could sleep last night, Maggie says that she wanted to crawl
into bed with Tomas, but didn't. Tomas says that it is a good
thing 'cause Lu was there. Josie gets up - comments on the heat
- gets a cold drink from the fridge and goes outside to cool off
- commenting on wanting an air conditioner. John gets up shortly
after Josie and is disappointed that there is no coffee [I
believe that we are supposed to read into this that he is missing
Charlene.] We go to the exterior of the house where Josie is
leaning on the porch. Gary pops out from behind a bush [with no
shirt on ;)] and comments that she even wears blue off duty.

Josie hadn't realized that Gary was going to spend the night.

They spar (as usual). Josie instructs Gary to call her Josie
when she is at home or off-duty. Josie wants to know why Gary
spent the night. When he tells her that Ryan asked him to she
points out that she is a cop too. Josie spots a bottle on the
porch ledge and asks Gary if he had been drinking and that is the
reason he stayed the night. Once a drunk - always a drunk,
thanks for reminding me. He storms off.

Maggie is failing to make breakfast and not only that, there is
still no coffee for John. Maggie forgot to grind the beans.

Nick enters all dressed up for his probation officer. They
discuss how good he looks and how he is going to get into town
for his appointment. Tomas agrees to take him and Maggie is
going to stay with Lu. Josie comes in the house and asks John if
he left a beer bottle outside. He admits guilt and Josie, upset,
storms upstairs.

Lorna figures that Felicia should go back to work, but Felicia
wants to stay and make sure that nothing happens to her. They
are interrupted by a phone call from Grant. Will Lorna drop by
and see him?

Donna (during her trip to New York) has bought her wedding dress
(among other items). She decides that her and Matt have been
apart too long and starts to get amorous. Matt puts her off,
telling her that they need to talk, but after he shaves and gets
his head together. Matt exits for the bathroom. Donna calls
Bridget to talk to Vicky. Bridget tells her that Vicky didn't
come home last night and that he is probably at the hospital.

Donna asks why she is at the hospital - Bridget says, "You don't
know?"

Matt is shaving and talking to himself. He is trying to decide
the best way to tell Donna about Mike. Meanwhile, Bridget spills
the beans about Mike Leukemia and all the details. Matt finishes
shaving and leave the bathroom, only to find that Donna has left.

Lorna has gone to see Grant. He wants to say that he is sorry
that he didn't notice that she was sick and then asks her about
the health drink. Do they know who is responsible for her
poisoning? Lorna says that the police figure that it was either
Felicia, Grant or Rachel (who they are asking a lot of questions
about - which shows how desperate they are). Grant is visibly
shaken and Lorna asks Grant if he is the one who tried to poison
her.

Grant panics. Lorna tells him to chill out, she doesn't think
that it was him and that she probably wasn't intentionally
poisoned. He tells her that she needs to be careful, she may not
be safe. She says that it sounds like Grant knows who is
responsible. Grant tells her that he thinks that he knows who
did it. She freaks and wants to tell the police. He asks her
not to tell the cops. She points out that the whole situation is
crazy, but agrees when he asks her to let him take care of it.

He promises to do so as soon as possible. She leaves.

Gary shows up at Lorna's to talk to Felicia. He tells her the
story about the bottle and how it belonged to John. Felicia
tells him that it was a victory, he didn't touch the bottle.

After a pep talk from Felicia, the crisis is over. Gary comments
on Felicia's apron. Felicia asks Gary not to start on her too.

Mike is asleep in his hospital room. John enters to tell him
that he has a visitor. He has filled her in on the whole
situation. Donna enters. She looks at Mike with tears in her
eyes and says "Why didn't you tell me you big jerk?" They
discuss why Mike didn't want Donna to know. Mike doesn't want
Donna or anyone else feeling sorry for him. He tells her that he
didn't tell anyone else about the Leukemia either. He hates that
people are seeing him weak and in a hospital bed. Mike orders
Donna out, but Donna won't leave. She tells him that he is
scared to death and she is the only once who can help him.

Maggie is learning how the other half lives - no air conditioning
and only two vacuum cleaners in the whole house. Obviously she
is hot and cranky. Lu, who is sitting at the table painting,
spills some water and Maggie yells at her - then apologizes. She
doesn't know how Tomas makes it look so easy.

Tomas and Nick arrive early for his appointment. Tomas again
asks Nick to stay away from Maggie. They overhear Buck (who is
in a bad mood) talking on the phone agreeing to get something to
someone right away.

They question each other - what do you think is going on?

Neither knows. Buck comes out, gets Nick's papers, stamps them
and tells him to leave. They do, fast, as this is not like Buck
to take it so easy on Nick.

Felicia tells Gary about working at TOPS. She then tells him
that Lorna needs her and they discuss how she is ingratiating
herself into Lorna's life. Gary thinks that she is hiding -
perhaps from the bottle. Felicia is upset, she has been sober
for a year! Gary wants to know if Felicia's sponsor knows that
she is living with her daughter. He thinks she should get a life
or a job. Felicia points out that she is co-owner of a bookstore
- she has a job. Gary points out that is a wonderful job for
someone who wants to hide away from the world and that doesn't
seem like her. Felicia suggests that Gary write an advice column
since he has so many good ideas.

Felicia has business and invites Gary to join her and they begin
to leave. Gary asks if she has something left on the stove
(calling her Betty). Felicia tells him it is a French recipe
that has to simmer for hours. They leave.

Mike doesn't think Donna has a cure for Leukemia up her sleeve.

Donna thinks that she can help him by making him happy. They
discuss their history and how Mike should have noticed long ago
how special she is. Matt arrives at the hospital and sees Donna
and Mike holding hands through the hospital window.

Maggie is reading to Lu. Tomas and Nick enter, closely followed
by Josie. Nick and Tomas want to talk to Josie, so they step
outside. They ask Josie about Buck and his odd behavior. Josie
suggests that they forget about it, it is probably no big deal.

Josie asks their opinion whether a guy would prefer an apology in
person or a phone call or . . . they suggest that she see him in
person.

Gary bumps into Buck on his way out the door. Buck has things to
do and can't talk.

Lorna arrives home to a house filled with smoke. MOTHER! She
yells in an annoyed voice.

Felicia is at the hospital to talk to John, suggesting that Lorna
could do some PR work for the hospital. They agree to talk about
it.

Donna is tucking in Mike. She tells him that she will be back.

Mike wants her to come back because she wants to and not because
she feels sorry for him. They clasp hands and then she leaves.

She leans her head against the door - overcome for a moment or
two. From behind her, Matt says, "Donna." She turns and looks
at him. We see Matt and Donna and Mike (through his hospital
window) FREEZE FRAME

BTW, I was also dismayed by the news that Ryan was leaving the
show. He will be sorely missed. I personally feel that he must
be replaced! The way TPTB handled Jake's return was a bit hokey,
IMHO, although I am enjoying having Jake back. I do not want to
see the same type of thing happen with Ryan. The whole thing has
been done to death (no pun intended) and they need to come up
with a fresh game plan to bring him back with (after a suitable
length of time).

Was anyone else dismayed at the way that Rachel and Carl were
acting right after he rescued her? Which was also, by the way,
written poorly! At least now we are seeing both the Rachel and
Carl that we have grown to love. It just seemed that they were
either not acting to their fullest potential or they were getting
back at TPTB for the exit of Ryan?

Just my opinion. Talk to you again in two weeks!

Dianne
