What a performance by our very own Prince of Players, HRH
Charles Keating! Funny, touching, dangerous, sexy. And that
HAIR! ooooo I'd love to run barefoot through it. No one can
say he has "naughty thoughts" the way he does. Simply
wonderful *sigh*

Today, Carl and Rachel lock eyeballs for the first time in ages.

[what a great scene!]
Paulina has an answer for Joe.

Frankie is trying to understand Cass.

Nick is there for Michael, and

Maggs and Tomas talk about the "non-event".

I have changed scene order to prevent confusion and scene hopping.
The HOSPITAL is Bay City General, and the ASYLUM is in
Switzerland.

HOSPITAL: Joe has asked Paulina to marry him. Paulina says
he doesn't know what he's saying. Morgan comes in before
Paulina can answer
Nick returns John's truck. He want's to know how long
Michael has to live. Michael comes in, and Nick is
uncomfortable saying "leukemia". Michael says they have to
be able to talk about it. [WHAT! After all that secrecy!]
John informs Michael that he's (John) not a match for a bone marrow
transplant. Nick offers to get a blood test. Michael gives
Nick a hug. When Nick leaves, he bumps into Mags, who drops
a card for the family planning clinic. Nick doesn't like it
much.

Tomas overhears and immediately confronts Maggie about
her appointment and about Nick. They go to the roof set and
Maggie explains that she kept the appointment from him
because she was embarrassed. They reminisce about their toss
in the hay. Maggie says she is not ready for children. Tomas
agrees. And the fact that Nick knows, doesn't matter.

Tomas wants to be a doctor he says, but he wants her most of
all.

After a while, Nick returns and tells Michael that
he'll come tomorrow for testing, the same time as Vicky.

They leave, making plans for "quality" father-son time [read
Baseball on TV].
Paulina and Frankie lament Joe's condition. Frankie
explains that Cass "lost it" during the hostage crisis. He
felt helpless and it scared him, she says. He won't talk
about it, and she doesn't know where he is.
Paulina is worried about Joe. What's going on with the
tests Morgan and John are doing? Frankie says it's great
that she (Paulina) likes Joe. Joe is really smitten with
her, she says. Joe saved my life, Paulina says, because he
made her want to live. Is he just going to leaver her
again? Frankie says it was a "wake-up call". Paulina
admits that she loves Joe -- but she needs to take it slow.
She CAN'T lose Joe, now.

John comes out and says Joe will be fine.

Paulina goes to Joe. Joe says even though he was
"zonked" at the time, he was serious when he asked her to
marry him. Paulina can't imagine herself married again.

"Call my your second chance", Joe says. Paulina says, yes,
she'll marry him. He breaks off his hospital bracelet and
puts it on her. "I had it engraved," he says. She kisses
him
John tells Frankie and Morgan that Sharlene and Gregory
are fine in Chadwell. He leaves. Frankie tells Morgan
about Cass. He's really rattled by the shooting. Morgan
tells her that it's not surprising when you consider how
Cass was raised. He can't tell her, he says what it was
like being raised by their mother. Frankie is his family --
Cass is very frightened of losing her.

WALLINGFORD'S: Cass lets Josie quit early, and then he

talks to the woman and her son. (I'm sorry, I don't know
her name)

Gary arrives and surprises Josie as she is leaving.

Josie asks about Joe being shot, and the incident.
Gary says he tries not to think about how
dangerous it was. Frankie was great, he says, and
distracted Denny. Gary is not there to pick out a book, he
says, he's there looking for her (Josie).
Gary tells her about giving the graduation speech
tomorrow. He wants to tell her that she did an outstanding
job in his class and she should be proud, and he wanted to
tell her personally.
Cass tells the woman [name?] he was wondering about
Ben. He's fine, she says, and her ex-husband is leaving
them alone, so things are great. Cass asks her if she ever
wished her sick son had never been born. She says she never
regretted having him. He tells her about Charlie's illness
and about Frankie's faith. She tells Cass that even though
life is full of trials and tribulations, things do work out
for the best.

ASYLUM: Carl (dressed as a monk!) has found Rachel's room.

She is drugged. Nurse Braun comes in and demands to know
who Carl is. Carl pretends to be a patient in the hospital,
and claims he doesn't know who he is, and that he thinks
he's on a ship. She demands that Carl leave the Comptess's
room. Before he does, he leaves his wedding band on the
night-table.
Later, Carl is playing "chess" with a patient. Nurse
Braun threatens to lock "Julian Bellows" up, but relents
after Carl begs her not to.

Rachel wakes up, convinced that Carl has been in the
room. The young blond nurse insists that she must have been
dreaming.
Carl continues to play "chess". Nurse Braun chews out
an orderly for leaving the Comptess's room unlocked. She
then turns on Carl and tells him to behave.
Rachel is trying to stay awake. She has not seen the
wedding band on the night-table. She leaves the room, and
makes her way towards the nurse's station. Carl convinces
Sherry to distract "Gunther" whilst Carl tries to see Rachel
again. Just then, Rachel enters and sees Carl. They are
speechless at first. Just as they are about to speak, Nurse
Braun returns with Sherry and Gunther. She does not notice
that the Comptess and "Julian" seem to know each other...
She orders Rachel placed under restraint, and threatens Carl
with the same. Rachel is led away. FREEZE FRAME

A great day in Bay City!
