>Here's your update for Friday, June 27 [comments mine]:
>
>Toni tells Etta Mae of her rape. She continues to blame herself for what
happened (I should have been stronger, I'm a cop, I shouldn't have let this
happen to me, etc.), but Etta Mae insists it isn't her fault. Toni tells
her mother that she wasn't going to file a police report, but Josie did take
her to the hospital and had all the appropriate tests run. Etta Mae asks
Toni if she knows who raped her, but she says she doesn't, but she did see
the rapist's hands, and says they were white. Etta Mae quickly assumes
Josie convinced Toni not to file charges cause of the low conviction of
white on black rape, but Toni says she is the one who doesn't want to file
charges. Etta Mae eventually convinces Toni to file charges and calls Josie
at the cop shop. At the cop shop, Joe tells Toni she will have the full
support of the department. Josie shows Joe the evidence, including the
medal. She also tells Joe that there is a person who had such a medal and
was at the hospital before Toni was raped: Nick Hudson.
>
>Meanwhile, Nick awakens in a dumpster with a terrible hang over. Paulina
finds him and half-heartedly offers him help and warns him to stay away from
Sofia. Sofia comes out and takes Nick into Carlino's and gives him some
water. He apologizes for lying to Sofia about Tomas' scholarship [well,
maybe if Sofia didn't gush on about it every time the poor boy opened his
mouth to tell her the truth about it...] and tells her that if she doesn't
care about him, he better tell her now. She says she cares and takes his
hand. Then Joe comes in and drags Nick back to the precinct. There, he
shows Nick the medal. Nick says it is his. Toni comes to tell Joe that
"the" (read her) statement is on his desk and locks eyes with Nick. She
remembers him looming over her in the parking lot and assumes he is the
rapist. She points at him and says "Oh my God! You raped me!" [So much
for wanting to keep her case under wraps].

>At the Harbor Club, Donna, still freting about her engagement rings,
complains to Gary about Dash and learns from Dana Kramer that Dash was
picked up in Palm Springs with the paintings from the Cory board room, but
he insists he didn't steal any jewelry from Bay City. Donna contemplates
suing Dash's father, but Dana informs her a background check revealed the
family's broke. Chris and Tyrone show up (the ball game was called due to
the rain), and Donna offers them dessert on the house. Tyrone sees Dana and
is instantly smitten with Dana, but she gets a call from the police station
that there is a rape case. Chris, always looking for a story, asks Gary
what he knows. Gary says that Josie is working on a Jane Doe rape that
happened out in the police parking lot, but to not quote him cause he
doesn't know any details.

>Cindy goes wild shopping for clothes with the reward check Carl wrote her.
Grant is shocked and demands she take the clothes back. Cindy rips off her
dress, and Grant ravishes her. [Am I the only one who finds this marriage a
complete hoot? They are insane!] Later, after a romp between the sheets
that left clothes everywhere, [I especially loved the panties and neck tie
lying on the lampshade - nice touch, my compliments to the set dressers]
Cindy asks for more money and even goes so far as to threaten to sell her
story to the tabloids. Grant tells her he wants to take care of her and buy
clothes for her and reminds her that where he goes, she follows, and if he
loses, so will she. [Truly they are a match made in heaven,]
>
>At the boarding house, Shane arranges a room for Lila. She thanks him for
all his help. He says he will help her in any way he can, but that their
marriage is over and he wants a divorce because he loves Vicky. Lila
refuses to hear it and reminds him of their vows to each other. To her,
their marriage isn't over and he belongs with her. She admits that, of
course, he loves Vicky - she saved his life, for which Lila will always be
grateful. After a few more minutes of argument, Lila leaves to return to
her room, only to return a few minutes later telling him how terrified she
is of the rain. [She's terrified of the rain, but she was able to put a
lacy, sexy nightgown and see through robe on before she came back.] He lets
her in because he knows how terrified she is of the rain. She rambles on
about how bad things always happen in the rain. Apparentely, Lila's mom was
killed by some drunk men one night when it was raining [at least I think
that is what she said - I cant always understand her through that d-r-a-w-l
of hers], and the incident has left a permanent scar on her psyche. Shane
reiterates that he wants a divorce, and eventually Lila leaves. Shane calls
Vicky, but her line is busy. He goes to listen at Lila's door, convinces
himself Lila will be OK and heads out [to Vicky's, I guess].
>
>Meanwhile, over at Vicky's, Vic has built a fire in the fireplace in her
bedroom and is makin smores with Jake, who has just come from taking the
boys over to the Geller's for a slumber party. She says she has to pack it
in with Shane because her relationship with him was based on lies. Further,
she cant bear the thought of running into Shane and Lila on Center Street
and having to be nice to them. Jake asks Vic where she thinks she could
have fun. Vic comes up with NYC, Coney Island. She asks Jake if he will go
there with her and the boys, and he agrees. Vic sends Jake home to look for
some fun things for them to do on the Internet and she will make the hotel
reservation. Jake leaves. Later, Vic and Jake sit in their respective beds
in their respective places talking on the phone while watching the same old
Casablanca-ish movie about a man who comes into a woman's life only to leave
at the end. [The editors did a nice split screen on the diagonal of this.]
After the film ends, Jake tells Vicky to get some sleep. She comments that
her house smells like a smoky campfire. Jake hangs up the phone so Vic can
go to sleep. Jake lays down and closes his eyes, only to sit up suddenly
and say "Smoke?!?!" He bolts out of bed to go check on Vicky. In Vicky's
room, the model of the shoe factory in Lassiter Stephen and Kirk made
catches fire from an ember from the fireplace. The room starts to burn as
Vicky sleeps. FADE TO BLACK.
