Here's a short update for 6/25/96....

JOHN/FELICIA

John and Floozia are having lunch at Carlino's; it's D-day for John
and
Sharlene, the day they sign their divorce papers. F. tries to
entertain
John with a stupid story about her feather boa, but John is too
preoccupied
to be cheered up.

SHARLENE

Sharlene is alone in her office, holding the divorce papers in her
hand.
She takes off her wedding band....

DONNA/GABE/JOE/CASS

Donna has spent the night in a holding cell; while still asleep, she
has a
nightmare about being down on the docks. The fog is so wet, she tells
herself
in the dream, her hands are soaking.....she looks down and finds her
hands
covered in blood. She wakes up with a muffled scream. Meanwhile, Joe
comes
into Gabe's office and tells him that the townsfolk are making noises
asking
why the cops haven't arrested Donna yet. Gabe is short-tempered, and
says he
can't do anything until they have more proof. Gabe and Joe go over to
Donna's
cell and ask her if she's ready to answer questions. Cass bursts in
and
reminds Donna and the cops that she can't answer questions without her
lawyer
present...

VICKY/JAKE/CARL/MATT

Vicky is fuming about how no one told her that her mother is in trouble
with
the police. Now there's a story on the front page of the Herald with
the
headline "Socialite Arrested in Stalker Case". Vicky demands of Jake
an
explanation, and he says that headline and story is none of his doing,
in fact
he specifically gave instructions not to run any stories on Donna. It
must
be Matt's fault. They are having this discussion while standing on the
Cory
front step, ringing the bell. Matt answers the door, and they lay into
him.
Carl is there as well. Matt defends himself by saying that he had to
run the
story, he's only reporting the facts of the case. He is unrepentant
and not
particularly concerned that Donna was once his wife, or once meant
anything to
him. Matt and Jake get into another argument about principle....this
time Matt
accuses Jake of having one set for himself and his cohorts, and another
for the
rest of the world. At least I'm being consistent, Matt crows. Vicky
concludes
that with her mother in jail, she can't leave town now, but will have
to stay
and stand by her.

CARL/RAFAEL

Carl goes out onto the veranda and gives Rafael some instructions. Go
track
down Grant, wherever he is, as long as it's a totally isolated place
with
no one else around. Later, Rafael calls Carl on the phone, saying he's
managed to locate Grant. Carl asks where is this isolated place? When
he
hears Rafael's answer, all Carl does is quietly say "Oh my God.." and
hang
up the phone....

JOSIE/SHARLENE

Josie visits her mother; it's both a personal visit and police
business.
They talk about the divorce; Josie asks Sharlene if this is what she
really
wants, and Sharlene says that everything has already been said and
done, the
signing is just a formality, burying the body. Sharlene says she's not
going
to waste her time pining for something she can't have, like she did
when she
drove out to the farm and wished she could have her old life back
again.
Then Josie turns the conversation to Donna -- does her mother have any
other
information that could help the cops? Sharlene says she can hardly
believe
Donna is capable of murder, and she certainly didn't know the extent of
her
involvement when she helped her and Michael hide out. Then Sharlene
says that
she did overhear Donna say something to Michael once: Donna said "I
would
kill to be loved again." Josie says that is very helpful info.....

JOSIE/GARY/JOE

Gary visits the cop shop to make a delivery from Carlino's, eggplant
parmigiana
for the Captain. He and Josie chat about the case for a bit, and when
Josie
worries that they shouldn't be seen together, he reminds her that
they're
engaged to be married, people expect them to spend time together. On
his way
out, Gary runs into Joe, who muses aloud that he hopes Gary isn't
involving
himself in the Stalker case in any way....

GABE/DONNA/CASS

Gabe questions Donna again, with Cass present. Cass advises Donna not
to say
anything, remarking that telling her to stop talking is like telling
Niagara
to stop falling. Donna says she knows what she is doing. Gabe
receives a call
from Josie relaying to him Donna's remark "I would kill to be loved".
Gabe
interrogates Donna further, asking her if she's ever said anything like
that.
Donna says yes she did, she once said it to Michael, is he the one who
told
them that? Donna says she was very lonely, and has been for some time,
but she
certainly didn't mean she would literally kill anybody. Cass tries to
intervene and get Gabe to take it easy. Gabe says that they're going
to have
to hold Donna for a while longer...

JOHN/SHARLENE

John and Sharlene meet with their lawyers to sign the divorce papers.
Before
the lawyers come into the room, John and Sharlene talk privately. She
tells
him that she's changing her name legally back to Sharlene Frame, and
she
doesn't want any alimony. John protests that he doesn't mind paying
it, but
she says she prefers it this way, a clean break. As to child custody,
John
gets visitation with Greg every other weekend and twice weekdays. The
lawyers
are still hammering out a few details because Sharlene is highly
uncomfortable
with the idea of Greg visiting John and Felicia's little love nest.
John says
he respects that, but she'll have to accept that Greg is going to have
a
relationship with Felicia. Finally the lawyers come in, and the papers
are
signed. Afterward, outside the door, Sharlene blinks back tears...

JOHN/GREGORY

John is alone in one of the hospital examining rooms when Greg burst
in.
They get to talking about the divorce, and John asks Greg what his
fears are.
Greg wants to know, with his parents splitting up, and Josie getting
married,
will they still be a family? John assures him they will always be a
family,
and as syrupy background music plays, they fool around playfully and
share
a Quality Moment...

SHARLENE

Sharlene comes back into her office. She removes the nameplate on her
desk
that says "Sharlene Hudson" and tosses it into the garbage, replacing
it with
one that reads "Sharlene Frame." She sits down at her desk and gets a
phone
call from Fax. She assumes he wants to talk to Rita, but it's really
her he
wants to chat with. Yes, today is the day they signed the divorce
papers, it
figures he would remember that. No, most assuredly she does not want
to go out
to celebrate....on second thought, she will go out to dinner with him,
why not?

JOE/GABE/LORNA

Gabe is still in a foul mood; Joe comes in and tells him more about
how people are anxious to see Donna arrested. Joe takes a good look at
Gabe
and tells him he looks worn out, he should go home, in fact, that's an
order,
Captain. Gabe smiles and says he's tired, plus he's suffering from
deprivation
of another sort, romantic deprivation. He misses Lorna like crazy.
Joe
advises Gabe that he can't get any more work done today anyway, might
as well
take off. Gabe says he'll take that advice, and Joe leaves. Gabe goes
back
to work. The door opens and shuts again. Gabe looks up and there is
Lorna.
She opens the front of her coat, and obviously is wearing nothing
underneath...
Later, Gabe carries Lorna into his apartment, and they celebrate her
homecoming
by making love.

VICKY/JAKE/DONNA/JOSIE/CASS

Everyone is temporarily back at Donna's apartment. She is under police
escort
(Josie) while she gathers up a few of her things for a longer stay in
the
holding cell. Josie protests that Donna cannot take all this stuff --
the
costume jewelry and makeup and who-knows-what-all -- with her. Cass
tells

Josie to give Donna a break. Donna gets Vicky off into a frantic
huddle and

starts bemoaning how Michael no longer believes in her innocence.
Vicky

assures her
that Matt and Michael are both dogs, and she, Vicky, will stand by
Donna no
matter what. Donna is so relieved to know that Vicky thinks she's
innocent,
but to tell the truth, she's been feeling really strange lately, having
memory
lapses and waking up often not knowing where she is or how she got
there....
Donna then tells Vicky about the dream she had, in which her hands were
covered
in blood. Vicky sshh'es her and tells her not to be silly. Donna says
she
can't help it, what if it really was her that killed those two women?
Vicky's
face registers dawning consternation.....FREEZE FRAME.
