Here is the Another World update for Tuesday, June 18, 1996.

Enjoy.

Sophia has a registered letter for Jooe. Turns out that he and
Paulina won a hotel room for the night. Unfortunately, they have
to take it right away, and Paulina isn't here. Sophia jokingly
suggests that her and Nick could use it. Joe doesn't think that
it is a wonderful idea. Gary comes in from the kitchen. Joe
approaches him and tells him that he was talking to Paulina and
she was wondering when the wedding was going to be. So, he asks
Gary, when are you and Josie getting married? The phone rings
and Sophia goes to answer it. There is nothing wrong between you
and Josie is there, Joe questions. No, she is busy with the
investigation and I don't really feel like husband material back
here scrubbing pots and pans. No, sorry Frankie, Cass already
called, Sophia says as she answers the phone, I haven't seem
Maggie all day. If she comes in, I'll let you know. She hangs
up the phone. Josie enters. Pictures, I have pictures, I have
about 3000 more pictures of Dante, you have to stop over and see
them, Joe tells her. She is probably bored with all the pictures
you have been showing her, Sophia points out. Boring, it's not
boring, its . . . . time for me to make the soup, I think, says
Joe. Joe, actually I came to see you, its official police
business, Josie tells him. Gary makes himself scarce. So this
old guy, with all his problams, how does he just walk away? They
begin to discuss Ozzy. Joe, it is very embarrassing, I don't
know. They discuss where they have looked for Ozzy and who they
have talked to. Joe asks if she has told Gary about this. Josie
tells him that she knows that she can't talk to Gary about
official police business. Joe reminds Josie that if Gary wants
his shield back and she wants to keep her's, they have to play it
by the book. I know, she tells him. Anything else you want to
tell me, he asks her. Josie tells him that things have been
really hard lately with everything that is going on. Joe tells
her that he understands. We just need a break, Joe. Sophia
interrupts, can I talk to you for a sec, Joe? Did you really
mean it when you said that you would never stand in the way of
true love again, she asks. What are you getting at, he
questions? He and Sophia huddle.

Joe approaches Josie and asks her if she would consdier putting
in a couple of extra hours doing a plain clothes assignment.

Josie agrees. Joe blows a smoke screen referring to a robbery
from a few days ago. He sends her to a hotel room and tells her
to wait there. She leaves. Gary enters and asks where Josie
went. They give him a piece of paper and tells him to give it to
the supplier. They blow another smoke screen for Gary and
directs him to the same place as they sent Josie. Gary leaves.

Josie enters the hotel room. Hello, she calls out, Hello? She
starts to poke around, commenting on what a weird place to meet a
stoolie. Gay walks in and Josie asks him what he is doing here?

After Josie rants about Gary following her, they figure out that
they have been set up. Those crazy Carlino's, Josie giggles.

Really, well it is a good thing that they did, cause we need to
talk, she tells him. She further tells him that watching him
work on this murder investigation, she remembers what a wonderful
cop he is. She wants to tell Gabe all about what he has done for
the investigation. Gary tells her not to, she can get his badge
back all by himself. But there is something that she can do for
him. Marry him on the original date that they had set for a
wedding date. She agrees and they kiss.

Gabe is at the hospital, in Ozzy's deserted hospital room. John
enters. Gabe comments about how "crazy" Ozzy gave the slip to
the guard posted outside his room. John tells him that, judging
from his test results, if Ozzy doesn't get back to the hospital,
he is going to turn up dead. Ozzy has a serious medical problem.

Gabe assures John that he has lots of people out looking for him.

John points out that Ozzy spent his whole life on the streets and
it is going to be really difficult to find him. I have put out a
request for information that should be televised on KBAY with a
hot line number later tonight. With a little luck, Ozzy will
show up pretty soon. Morgan enters. And what are you going to
do, question him, then let him go and watch him disappear along
with everyone else you deal with. Gabe assures Morgan that the
police are doing a by-the-book investigation and that they will
find the murderer. John tells Gabe that Courtney was important
to him to and that if there is anything that he can do to help,
just let him know. Gabe thanks him and leaves.

Gabe is reading a piece of paper (Ozzy's medical report), and
stumbles into a nurse on his way out the door. She smiles and
check out his butt, but he is too preoccupied to notice.

Felicia, who is standing at the nurse's station does notice and
comes over to talk to him. You really are very smitten with
Lorna, aren't you, she tells him. Does it show, he questions.

Yes, Felicia tells him and tells him what just happened. I
sympathize with what you are going through, John tells Morgan.

Morgan requests a vacation and asks John to authorize it. No, he
tells him. Why not, asks Morgan. Because I know what you are
trying to do, he tells him. If you want to take a vacation,
fine, but I am not turning you loose on the streets. So I just
sit back and watch the police drag their heels while the person
who murdered my girlfriend runs free? The whole police
department is on this, John points out. Yeah, and they let
little old Ozzy just walk right out the door. What about Donna
Love? Got all the evidence stacked up against her, they question
her and then let her go? Do you know something about Donna that
the police don't, John questions? They know, John, the police
know. She was down on the docks that night and she knows who did
it, she knows something. But you are right, I'll drop it. I am
better use as a doctor than running around as an undercover cop,
right? Why the change of heart, John questions. I just came in
to ask you a question, that's all. What do you know about a
patient who does things, committs acts, in an unconscious state?

What are you changing your specialty? No, although Newman would
love that, wouldn't he. I am interested in repressed memory and
why people block out certain incidents. I don't know, you would
have to go down to Berger in Psych for that, but from my own
experience, I know that Charlene had some suppressed memorys and
her's excercised themselves with alternate personalities. I'm
not talking about that, Morgan tells him, I am talking about run
of the mill memory loss. I am not sure, if the situation were
tramatic enough, you could suppress almost anything that you have
seen, heard, or even feel guilty about. Thanks, Morgan tells him
and leaves.

Charlene is in her office and Fax enters. He is wondering when
he can collect on that rain check she gave him the other day.

Would you like to have dinner with me tonight. Charlene makes an
excuse. Fax tells her that he talked to Tomas and found out that
Gregory has a play date with Louisa tonight. Doesn't she think
that his mother deserves a night out too? You could have your
pick of any of the women on staff, why did you choose me, she
asks. Firstly, you are a very beautiful woman and I don't want
to spend time with someone like you, I want to spend time with
you. Charlene, I want to take you out, and if you don't know
why, I can give you a million reasons over dinner. Are we on?

Sure, she tells him, why not?

A short time later, Gabe enters Rita's office and thanks Charlene
for coming into the station and answering those questions for
him. Just glad to help, Charlene tells him. He questions her
further about the accident, but she doesn't remember anything
new. They leave, but on the way out Gabe asks her if the driver
of the car was a man or a woman. Charlene tells him that she
honestly couldn't say. They leave. Donna goes into Rita's
office. She looks under the desk for the evidence and is glad to
see that it is still there. She reaches under the desk to
retrieve it, and Mike walks in. What are you doing, he
questions, what are you looking for in here? If you must know I
came to see Charlene. Mike is disbelieving, but Donna covers. I
just wanted to thank her for covering for me at the police
station, but I guess that I'll have to do it later, she says as
she starts to leave. Where is it, questions Mike. Donna tells
him that she doesn't know what he is talking about and Mike
begins to get upset with her telling her that she has to tell him
where the evidence is. Mike grabs Donna's arms. You are hurting
me, she tells him. I don't know where the evidence is and it is
absurd that I would have anything to do with the murders. A
cleaning woman enters and goes to Rita's desk to dust and tidy
up. She notices a envelope on the floor and picks it up, putting
it on Rita's desk (it is the envelope with the evidence in it).

Donna is telling Mike that she is glad that the evidence is gone.

Felicia is at her desk in her apartment. She tells John that she
is going to get a movie deal for "The Heart that Heals". That is
great, John tells her. I am very excited, she tells him. John
suggests that they go out and celebrate. Felicia tells him that
she believes that luck had a lot to do with it, as she fingers
the necklace they found in the fish. Would you mind very much if
I gave this to Lorna, she asks John. I think that that is a
beautiful gesture. Not that she needs any luck right now with
Gabe. She has Gabe, John tells her, and I have you.

Kirkland, Stephen and Vicky are sitting in the living room at
Jake's blowing bubble gum bubbles. Jake sneaks up behind Vicky
and pops her bubble, after which she chases him around the room.

When Jake starts to retaliate, she huddles with the boys. You
never change, she tells Jake. Yes, I have, he tells her, and
speaking of changing, you should go and change. I have a huge
suprise for you.

Meanwhile, outside the apartment, Micheal and Donna are
approaching. Mike tells her not to tell Vicky anything about
what is going on with the police. Vicky is only going to be in
town for a short time, and we don't want to ruin it by telling
her. Don't you think that she is entitled to know that her
mother is a murder suspect? Please, just keep your trap shut, he
tells her, she has enough to worry about with Grant. They knock
on the door. Who is it, asks Jake from inside. Mike (and
Donna). Jake opens the door. Lucy and Grant exit the elevator,
just as the door closes. Are you sure you know what to do, he
asks. We've been over this three times, I know what I am doing.

Grant tells Lucy how much he appreciates what she is doing for
him. It's strange, Lucy tells him, Vicky isn't exactly what I
was expecting. I got to go, the guard will be heading down the
hall right away. Inside, Mike is asking where Vicky is. She is
in the bathroom making herself even more beautiful than she
usually is. Donna tells Stephen that he is probably just as
happy to have Mommy back as she is. Mike takes Jake aside and
asks if Vicky knows anything about the police investigation.

Vicky doesn't know . . . Jake starts to say. Know about what,
Vicky asks as she enters on the tail end of the conversation.

About the wonderful meal that we are going to be having in a
short time, Jake finishes. Vicky goes over and hugs her mother
(a very long hug). I have missed your big hugs so much, she
tells Donna, Mom, you are squeezing the life out of me, she tells
her. Sorry, Donna says with tears in her eyes. What's wrong,
Vicky immediately asks. Nothing, Mike tells her. Oh, I could
never hide anything from her, Donna tells them, I just can't
stand the though of you going away again, do you have to leave?

They hug again. (You see a look of relief on Mike and Jake's
faces) Lucy enters. I hope I wasn't distrubing a family moment,
Lucy tells them, but I wasn't sure if you needed me today. I am
glad you came, we didn't have much of a chance to talk yesterday,
Vivky tells her. I already feel that I know everything about
you, Lucy tells her. Well, Jake just filled me in last night, so
I just want you to know that these two little beasts are the most
important things in my life and whoever looks after them should
be perfect, so . . . Yea, the boys are going to be catching up
with their Mother, Michael and Donna, so we won't be needing yo,
Jake tells heu. If you don't mind Anna, I would like you to
watch them for a couple of hours tonight, Vicky asks. Sure, Anna
tells her. There is a knock at the door. It is room service.

(Vicky invites Lucy/Anna to stay for dinner) He has brought
pepperoni pizza, cheese curls, pretzels and Rocky Road ice cream.

You forgot the Root Beer, Vicky points out. Never underestimate
me, he tells her, pulling out a couple of bottles of root beer, I
got you covered. You sure do, she tells him.

That was wonderful, Stephen tells Jake after dinner. Vicky tells
them that they do not make food like this in England or China.

That is another reason to stay, Jake points out. You have to
stay here if you want to have food like this. Right, agrees
Stephen. I don't ever want to let you out of my sight again,
agrees Donna. Hey, you all know why I can't stay and the less
people who know my comings and goings the better, Vicky tells
them all. Do you kids want to go and finish the welcome home
card we started for your Mother and let the grownups visit, asks
Lucy/Anna. They leave. You will probably be gone before they do
finish the card, snips Donna. This isn't easy for any of us, and
I promise we will all get together again before I leave. They
agree to meet again and Donna and Michael prepare to leave.

Vicky tells them that they have both been acting really strange
and that she hopes that they aren't going to do something stupid.

Like what, questions Mike. Like walking down the isle? Mike
laughs, Don't you think that we have learned our lesson. Would
you be willing to stay in Bay City if we did, questions Donna.

No, says Vicky and Mike looks shocked. It was only a
hypothetical question, Donna tells them. Listen to your
daughter, she is very smart, Mike tells her. Donna hugs Vicky
and tells her to call her, she really wants to see her before she
goes. What is going on, questions Vicky. Mike assures her that
nothing is going on, and leaves. Don't. Don't, Jake tells Vic.

It was a very nice thing you did for me, getting everyone
together. It was just like old times, he tells her. Not quite,
there were a couple of people missing, you know. Do me a favor,
bring the car around to the service entrance for me. No, Jake
tells her, I am not letting you go anywhere, not with Grant
around ready to pounce on you as soon as you walk out the door.

(We see Lucy/Anna evesdropping on the conversation) Come on, Vic
tells him, the boys are safe here with Anna and you are going to
stick to me like glue. Remember the old handshake like glue.

They argue, but Vicky tells him that this is something she has to
do. She has to make a stop to pick up some scottish heather.

She asks the boys to come out. Anna goes to the phone and calls
Grant. She tells him that Vicky and Jake are just leaving, but
she doesn't know where they are going, just that she says that
she needs some scottish heather. Thanks Lucy, Grant says, I know
exactly where they are going. He smirks.

This is nice, Jake, really nice, it is just the way she would
have wanted it. I wanted to do something bigger (she didn't mean
it like it sounds), but . . . (they are at Bridget's Grave).

Bridget always gave such good advice, not that I listened to her,
I should have listened to her, I should have brought her with us.

Stephen and Kirkland never got a chance to say goodbye and
neither did I. She had a full life, Jake points out. You know,
Stephen and Kirkland were getting to be too much for her, listen
she would have burnt about a dozen shortbread cookies before she
admitted that but I definately saw that she was winding down a
bit before we left. Vicky, says Jake. I talked to her all the
time, she tells him. Don't go blamin' yourself that is the last
thing Bridget would have wanted. (We hear chimes in the
background). What was that, she asks Jake. What? You know what
it sounded like, those little bells that Bridget used to put on
the Christmas tree when we were kids. Remeber that, yeah, I
remember that used to make me feel so safe. You know for the
first time in a very long time, I feel really, really safe.

Vicky hears the chimes again. Did you hear that, she asks Jake.

I didn't hear anything. Bridget! I miss you so much, I miss the
shortbread, I miss the funny stories about your scottish
relatives, I miss your lullabys. I cannot tell you what I
wouldn't give to come home and find one of your pesky little
notes on the refridgerator, ah, home, yeah that's a interesting
concept, I unloaded the place, well actually Jake unloaded it for
me. I got a good price. She always worried about money you
know, she tells Jake. You can take the lady out of Lassiter . .
.. he tells her. I can't tell you what I wouldn't give to hear
you scold me for leaving the wet towels on the bathroom floor or
letting Stephen stay up to watch those monster movies. Or, for
not telling the truth enough times in my life. I don't know what
to do now because, now, who is going to yell at me for giving the
boys chinese for lunch or parking in the handicap zone at the
grocery store? You were my conscience. I don't know who to turn
to now that you are gone. I don't know who I can rely on. We
again hear the chimes. She looks at Jake. You? Ok Vic, cause
you know you can rely on me. That's what Bridget just said, she
tells him. You know this is getting kinda weird, we should be
going. Vic asks him to go and get the car for her, she'll be
down in a second, this is something I have to do. He leaves.

She stands over Bridget's grave.

We next see Vicky at Ryan's grave. Their music is playing in the
background. There is not much to say, really. You know my every
move, every thought, every fear, every beat of my heart, and you
know how much I miss you, how much I wish you were in my arms and
in my bed in my life. I wouldn't have to say anything if I could
just hold you again. If I could just hold you again I would
never, never, never let you go. I'll never let you go, Ryan,
never. She looks up and sees Grant watching her as she is
leaning on Ryan's grave. Freeze Frame
