AW: Update June 6, 1995

A great day for Father/Son Ryan and Spencer. *sniffle*.

Even a good day for Nick, who is kinda cute when he's
wet, and the appearance of Buck Mason is a surprise.

Is he a recurring character, or only a one-time bad-cop
counterpoint to good-cop Gary? Josie and Gary on the
firing range... Nick takes Maggie for a ride, and a
swim. Is it curtains for Rachel?

Precinct: Nick is on the phone to his sponsor,
Felicia. He tells her he's still sober. An old buddy
arrives, Buck Mason, who is now a parole officer in Bay
city. (whaddyawannabet he's Nick's parole officer?)

He's also being set up to be a bad guy, I can tell.

Gary is troubled when Buck says the punks "know who is
boss". He's well out of it, he says.

JohnHudson Farm: Josie is worried about her first day
on the firing range. John tells her she'll be fine.

Outside, a motorcycle revs. John and Josie are amazed
that Nick got the old motorcycle running. John wonders
where he's going, but Josie, knows [and so do we].

Hospital: Ryan tells Spencer that he knows that
Justine is masquerading as Rachel. Spencer can talk
now, and he says "Yes, she is." [OH NOW Spencer can
talk! Seems just a tad IRONIC). Spencer says he has
known Justine is live since just before his stroke. He
tells Ryan about the visit to her hotel, the headache
and the decongestant that caused his stroke. He tells
Ryan about "Christopher". Ryan is shaken when he
realizes that Justine tried to kill Spencer in cold
blood. Spencer tells him that Justine tormented him in
the hospital, because she likes "to play the game." He
was not scared for himself, but for Ryan and Grant.

Grant, doens't know, Ryan says. Ryan also says that
Justine does not suspect, and it was very hard for him
to "pretend" around Justine. Spencer asks "Where is
Rachel?" Ryan tells him that Rachel is missing and that
Carl is missing. If Justine finds out, Ryan says,
Rachel will be in grave danger.
At this point, Justine peeks in the door and sees
Ryan and Spencer speaking. John appears and enters the
room. He is pleased by Spencer's progress and says
Spencer can recover completely. When John leaves,
Justine (I think now that the Cat is out of the Bag, we
can call her Justine) enters and asks Spencer if he can
speak. Spencer fakes not be able to speak, and Ryan
says that may be permanent. Justine asks about the
letterboard. Nope, says Ryan, no luck there. Justine
pretends disappointment, but she's secretly thrilled.

Ryan says Spencer's stroke could have been prevented.
The decongestants. Illness can strike so suddenly, he
says. She tells Spencer she's very sorry. Outside,
she meets John. [I literally held my breath!] but he
doesn't give away the secret. John returns and tells
Spencer and Ryan that Spencer has a bed at the "Atkins
Institute". Ryan says "today". John is confused when
Spencer and Ryan ask him to tell no one that Spencer
can talk. Spencer doesn't want to go, but Ryan
insists. [I reiterate...David Hedison has been
marvelous. A stellar performance]. Spencer asks
Ryan's forgiveness. I started this, he says, by
sending Justine away all those years ago. Ryan tells
Spencer that there is no one to blame. Find Rachel,
Spencer says. Near tears, Ryan says, he will.

[WAAAAAHHHH *sniffle* what a great scene! I LOVE THIS
SHOW :,-) ]

Cory Manse: Nick arrives at the Cory manse and asks
Maggie if she wants to go for a ride (it's more of a
dare). Intrigued, she agrees. Uh oh. Is Maggie
falling prey to the Rebel Without a Clue?

Precinct: Buck Mason agrees to speak to the new
recruits. Gary instructs the recruits and they go into
the firing booths. Josie is nervous. Gary comes up
behind her and shows her the proper way to hold a gun
[Ah...the old golf-pro ploy] Josie notices more than
his proper form. The cop in the next booth notices too.
[sexist trouble ahead a la Jamie and Kelsey?] Josie
says she's worried about having to use a gun. Go easy
on yourself, Gary says. Back outside the booths, Buck
is introduced to the cadets. "I like to bust punks
chops," he says. Buck gives them a lecture, allright.

"Pull your gun and use it," he says it. "Anyone who
wants you dead, better get dead first". Gary is upset.

He dismisses the class, and Josie asks "What the hell
was that?" Embarrassed, Gary has no answer.

After target practice, they break for lunch. Josie
hangs around despite a wisecrack from a fellow cadet.

Josie tells Gary that if Mason had been there when that
guy pulled knife on her, she'd be dead. She tells
Gary that if that is what is expected of her she'd
rather "sign up for wordprocessing" [HEY! what is wrong
with wordprocessing???] Gary defends his buddy, even
tho' his heart is not in it. Josie asks "the sarge" to
lunch, but just then Mason comes in. She leaves.

Mason says that although Josie is cute, she's too small
to be a cop. He asks Gary to go for a drink.

Cory Pool: Nick and Maggie arrive back at the Cory
manse. Nick turns up the music and walks around amazed
at the opulence. Maggie goes on about how she hates
Blane (?) and how she can't live with her mother.

She's happier in Bay City. She invites him for a swim.

Maggie tells Nick that things are not altogether great.

Carl disappears and Rachel is "icy". Nick says that
families are overrated, and that it can all disappear
overnight. Count on yourself, he says, and maybe a
friend who knows what she's going through. "Are you
making a pass at me?" Maggie asks. [ADUH] He denies it.
After some playful splashing in the pool, they wind up
in a clinch. [Maggie's lips are getting more of a work
out in the last coupla days than they had in the last
six months!]

Justine calls Christophe, but he is hovering over the
comatose Rachel.

Christophe, hypodermic in hand is waffling. He doesn't
want to kill Rachel, but decides he must. He puts the
needle to her arm and FREEZE FRAME.

Line of the day is actually line delivery of the day.

David Hedison's delivery:

"She came at me with a pillow...here...Here!"

Wonderful astonished spin on the words.
