INTRO:

John asks Cass if it's possible to have Kate kept away from the
hearing, in case Mrs. Shaw brings up her pesonality disorder. Kate
walks in on them.

Maggie meets Tomas at the court, talks a guard into letting them
talk alone. Tomas tells Maggie he's something important to tell
her about Luisa.

A bare-chested Ian is trying his hand at plumbing when Josie walks
in and offers to help. They duck under the counter together and
after some clanking and banging, water starts spraying everwhere.

Paulina still can't believe Iris would go so far as murder. Jake
tells her not to worry, he won't let anyone hurt her or her family.

JAKE & PAULINA

Paulina starts to say that she hopes they catch Iris, then catches
herself and say whoever is doing it, before things get that far.
Jake says he checked with Brava and Barry is neither an employee
nor a client. Paulina wants to warn Rachel or confront Iris, but
Jake says no. He's figured out a way to catch spiderwoman in her
own web.

CASS, JOHN, KATE

Kate tells John he's no longer needed and to get out of her and her
family's life. John says he'll be at the hearing. Kate tells him
not to worry about the bail money, she'll make sure he gets it
back. Besides he's already been repaid.
Kate: You've got nothing to complain about, you've been repaid.
John: What do you mean, repaid?
Kate: Oh I think you know. You were after something and you got
it. I think it's more than a little sick, if you ask me,
but to each his own. I just wish you'd leave me out of
          your fantasies.

TOMAS, MAGGIE

Tomas starts to tell Maggie, when the guard interrupts and takes
Tomas into the courtroom. Mrs. Shaw comes in with Luisa and the
Griffins. A security guard takes Luisa away. Maggie later sneaks
into the room and talks the guard into letting her talk to Luisa.

JOSIE, IAN

They share a towel, talking about the hearing and how they missed
each other.

PAULINA, IRIS

Paulina makes up a story and drags Iris out of her room, unlocking
the window as she goes. Jake climbs in the window and searches the
room, finding a mini-cassette case. Suddenly the door opens -
Paulina. She says there could be a legitimate reason for Iris to
have a tape; it doesn't have to be for the gunshot tape. Jake
continues searching as Paulina guards the door. Later, in Paulina's
room, Iris bursts in saying, `what else can go wrong today' and
sees Jake.

COURTROOM

Tomas tells Kate he'll do whatever it takes to keep Luisa. He even
tries pleaing with the Griffins and he accuses Mrs. Shaw of tearing
his family apart.

Maggie enters and tells Tomas she's seen Luisa. Tomas tries to get
her to leave the courtroom, but she won't go. "But I didn't get a
chance to explain."

Cass privately asks the judge to consider Kate and Tomas'
competence for guardianship separately. He's worried Kate's
condition might prejudice Tomas' case.

The hearing starts with the judge stating that it is an emotional
and complex case, particularly since there is no biological parent
involved and there are criminal charges pending. She also says she
is going to consider Kate and Tomas separately. Kate is asked to
leave the hearing. (John is waiting outside and she accuses him
of interferring.)

The judge asks why Luisa was taken from her brother and Kate. Mrs.
Shaw starts talking about Kate and her personality disorder. The
judge asks why Tomas could not have custody when he turns 18.
Because he is in jail on charges of kidnapping and resisting
arrest. Maggie blows up at Mrs. Shaw. Kate, listening at the door,
barges in. The judge says that since there is an obvious lack of
self-control, she's ready to now conclude the hearing.

She tells Kate and Tomas that love isn't enough. Luisa also needs
a stable home, and since Tomas is underage and Kate is ...
unqualified, in the abscence of legal parental rights the Griffins
may - Tomas interrupts ".... Luisa isn't my sister, she's my
daughter." Great commotion as Maggie stares in shock.

The judge wants to know why Mrs. Shaw didn't uncover this during
her investigation. Kate and Tomas explain all the whys and
wherefores. Mrs. Griffin is crying that she can't lose Luisa. The
judge decides she needs more time. Mrs. Shaw is told to re-
investigate, including talking to the birth-mother and her parents
in Port Jarvis. Luisa will remain with the Griffins in the
meantime. Maggie runs out of the courtroom.

Tomas gets to see Luisa before she is taken away again. Maggie
comes up, cuddles Luisa, and runs from Tomas again. He takes off
after her, with tears in his eyes. He tells her she's not going to
walk away from him, but she pulls away. (Freeze Frame)
