AW: Update Monday May 13, 1996

Here's what happened in Bay City today:
Scene order fudged to keep things together.

Maggie's Room: Maggie is really miffed about Nick.

Cass comes in her room just as she is in mid-snit.

He tells her that he remembers the struggles of
being young. He wants her to confide in him, or
if not him, then Frankie. Maggie is clearly
against THAT. She tells Cass that she's only his
daughter because of Cecile's scheming... "The
apple doesn't fall far from the tree" she says.

[prayer to TPTB: DON'T GO THERE! PUH-LEASE! NO
convenient pregnancies! OR FAKED PREGNANCIES, YES,
I'm SHOUTING!]

BCGH: Josie is pushed toward the stairs. It's the
old geezer from the docks (the one who tormented
Grant). She manages to save herself from being
pushed down the stairwell, but he keeps after her.
Meanwhile, Gary fends off Chris's questions
for the newspaper. They hear Josie calling for
help. The old geezer is clearly crazy, but Josie
thinks they've got their man. A cop dressed as an
orderly comes in. Gary is mystified, he doesn't
know that Josie arranged a little undercover sting
in the hospital.
Gary is really ticked off about the little
"sting" that put Josie in danger. Josie tells him
she couldn't tell him about it. Gary assumes that
Josie thinks HE shot Blair. Josie says that there
are a lot of people on the suspect list, him
included. She doesn't believe he did it, of
course, but it LOOKS bad for him. She had to
prove someone else did it.

Morgan comes in and says Josie can go home.

Back at the desk, he finds Fax plying Courtney
with professional compliments, and Morgan doesn't
like it.

Courtney wants to move out of Morgan's
apartment. He is hurt and disappointed, but she
explains that she needs to be on her own in order
to solve her problems. He protects her too much.
Courtney tells him she'll have her things out of
his apartment by the time he gets home.

BCPD: Lorna tells Gabe they can't go on the way
they have been, it hurts too much. She tells him
goodbye, but he kisses her. A cop comes in a
tells Gabe that there's something going on at the
hospital.

The old guy is in the holding cell. Dana and
Gabe figure he saw the shooting, picked up Josie's
gun, blew Blair away for her cash and credit
cards.
Chris tries to get a story from Dana and
Gabe, but they're not talking. Chris asks her
what she has against him. She reminds him that
her father was married to his mother, and that
gives her bad feelings when she sees him. She
hardly knew her father growing up, she says. He
tells her he hardly knew his mother...they have
that in common at least. They make a tenuous
peace.
Chris tries again with Gabe, but Gabe tells
him there's no story, yet.

Wallingford's: Maggie arrives. Cecile notices that
she's been crying. Maggie tells her about being
in love with Nick, who's in love with someone
else. She thought "doing it" would change things,
but it didn't mean anything to Nick. Cecile tells
her that she should keep trying if she really
loves Nick, if she really wants only him. She
always placed a higher value on money, Cecile
says, but she knows now that love is worth much
more. Much happier, Maggie leaves Wallingford's
with new determination *yawn*.

Cass arrives and tells Cecile that he and
Felicia are very happy with her work. She tells
Cass that being hungry and homeless changed her
attitude very quickly. She wonders how things
would have been if she and Cass had married and
raised Maggie together. They'd both be dead, he
says, and Maggie an orphan.

Basketball Court: Rafael and Nick are shooting
hoops. Rafael gets on Nick about being a

"boy scout" rather than the cool guy he used to be.

Nick says he hasn't changed that much. Rafael asks
what's bugging him and Nick says Sofia thinks he
wants to see other girls. Rafael tells Nick to
simply tell Sofia how he feels. Nick says she's
too good for him anyway, he can't give her what
she needs. Rafael says he's setting his own
sights high [Maggie, no doubt].

They do a little macho boasting about Basketball
prowess: Maggie watches from behind the fence.

Josie's Apt: Josie and Gary arrive home. He
carries her off to bed.

BCGH: Gabe chases down Lorna in the corridor and
tells her that he wants another chance with her.
They kiss.

Carlino's: Paulina asks what's up with Sofia.

Sofia replies that Paulina was right about Nick,
all along. What has Nick done now? she asks.

Sofia doesn't want to talk about it. She changes
the subject to the honeymoon in Europe. It sounds
wonderful, she says. Paulina is doubtful that
they can afford it (that's what THIS updater would
like to know!) Sofia says she can work two jobs,
but Paulina says she's just a kid and needs to
have fun. Sofia says she's turning into the nun
Aunt Frannie wanted her to be. Sofia sees a
"GIRLS EARN FAST CASH!" ad in the paper. [OMG
she's been SPAMMED!]

Photographer's Studio: Sofia arrives. He seems
nice, persuasive. He offers to take some "test
prints". She'll be modelling lingerie. He tells
her to get undressed and put on this wispy black
negligee. She starts to take off her clothes.

FREEZE FRAME.

AT LAST a Best line! Goes to Cecile:

"Men can separate sex and emotions. For women
they are joined at the hip...so to speak."
