After Toni runs a computer check on all East Texan
"Shanes" with criminal records, Vicky warily looks
for a familiar face among the files of rapists,
embezzlers, and murderers. Though Cindy hisses a
warning that they must leave the estate before
they're discovered, Grant eagerly insists on waiting
around long enough to see the results of his
handiwork. Meanwhile, Rachel watches in dismay as
Carl suddenly begins babbling incoherently. At the
precinct house, a sobbing Paulina begs her husband
to tell her that the accusations against him are all
a huge mistake. Although relieved not to spot
Bobby's face among the rap sheets, Vicky tells Donna
it's over between her and the deceitful carpenter.
When Neil and Gary attempt to interrogate her,
Paulina stubbornly refuses to answer any of their
questions until her attorney is present. Frightened
by Carl's ravings, Rachel decides to rush him to the
hospital. Warning that lives may hang in the
balance, Joe asks a baffled Jake to watch over
Paulina, Sofia and Dante while he's incarcerated. In
the E.R., Carl's hallucinations intensify and he
accuses John and Rachel of trying to poison him.
Cindy whips up another dose of the antidote for
Grant. Donna is thrilled when Dash asks permission
to court her daughter. Vicky decides to start
digging again for the real scoop on Shane. As his
mind begins to clear, Carl suspects he was drugged
with the same hallucinogen he gave Grant.

Greed is good. Nothing great was ever accomplished by a strong desire to be
on welfare.
