Here is the Another World Update for April 23, 1996. Enjoy. As
usual, I apologize for any errors or omissions.

Gabe enters hospital asking about Josie. Rita tells him that she
is still in surgery, and will be for some time. No news as of yet.

Gabe looks worried as Lorna watches from the sidelines.

Gary is also waiting for news of Josie. He is blaming himself for
not keeping Josie away from Blair. What if she dies, he asks
Felicia, what am I gonna do?

Meanwhile, Josie is crashing. John thumps her once on the chest
and she resumes rhythm. John starts to collapse. Fax tells John
that he is unable to perform surgery. His hands are shaking. Does
he want to kill his stepdaughter?

Josie is going to pull through, Felicia tells Gary. She gives him
a pep talk. Gary tells her that there is someone else to blame.

He turns to Gabe and proceeds to blame him for not giving him his
badge back so that he could back her up. Chris watches on. Gabe
grabs him and tells him to get it together. He needs to ask Gary
a few questions about Cobra. What do you want to know, Gary asks.

Does she have any next of kin, he asks. She didn't have anyone
that cared about her, except Matt Cory.

The other officers comment on how they can't handle another 21 gun
salute. Gabe tells them that it is not over yet. They point out
that it was the same as Ryan's injury, and they couldn't do
anything for him. Chris asks Gabe for a comment. Lorna intervenes
and tells Chris to leave him alone. Ok, then what can you tell me
about the shooting, he asks her. We will be releasing a press
statement shortly, she tells him, and asks him to wait downstairs
with everyone else. Chris decides to try his luck with Cathy (the
nurse on duty). Before he is finished buttering her up, his mom
comes in. You are not going to get any information from me, she
tells him. He smiles and says, well then, since I'm gonna be
hanging around here anyway, do you want to have coffee later? She
tells him that she really doesn't have time today. All right, he
says, so there must be some pretty heavy stuff happening around
here today. Good try, Rita tells him and walks away.

Lorna approaches Gabe and asks if he is all right. You were
thinking about your Dad, weren't you. They talk about the
shooting. He tells her that the bullets in the gun were cop killer
bullets. Poor Josie, Lorna says. Gabe excuses himself and goes to
the nurses' station. He approaches the other officers. If you are
ready to bury Officer Watts, go home, if you want to help her, come
with me. They head down the hall.

I've worked under worse circumstances, John tells them. Fax tells
him that he wasn't fighting Malaria at the time. He asked him here
to do a job, is he going to let him do it? Courtney interrupts to
tell them that this is the sixth unit of blood and that they should
call down to make sure that the Blood Bank has lots on hand. Fax
points out that they are wasting time and tells John to take a
breather, then he resumes surgery. John backs off, but asks a

nurse to get his medication from his lab coat in the scrub room.

Fax asks for more suction. John advises Fax and Courtney. He
tells them that he thinks that they are dealing with one of those
Cop Killer bullets and that there may be fragments everywhere.

Surgery resumes. They find that the Uterus is damaged and Courtney
wonders if it can be repaired. One thing at a time, Fax tells her.

Matt and Donna are at the newspaper. He tells her that Blair has
been killed and explains what happened. Donna is shocked. He asks
to be left alone. She asks him if he has had any chance to think
about what she told him earlier. He is puzzled. Donna explains
that she poured her heart out to him and he is acting like he
didn't hear. Nick enters and tells Donna that it was him that she
spilled her guts too. Donna is upset. Matt intervenes and tells
them to get lost. Donna finds out that Vicky's boys are back and
asks Matt to take her to see them.

Rachel is standing at the window and is upset. Carl enters. He
asks what is wrong. She tells him that Blair has been killed.

Yes, he though someone would shot her. Rachel asks how he knew
that she was shot. Carl says taht it was to be expected. Carl
asks how Rachel found out, she says that she heard it on the car
radio.

Maggie is writing in her diary (comments on how much she wishes
that Frankie was out of the picture so that she could have cass and
her sister to herself. They could even hire a housekeeper so that
she didn't have to do it herself). Nick calls her to ask if she
has heard from Sophia. Maggie talks him into coming over to talk.

Felicia and Gary are wondering where Charlene is. Felicia tells
Gary that she is sure that Charlene will come as soon as she gets
the message. Gary goes to the phone and calls the Operator and
asks her to interrupt the line.

Matt and Donna enter. Rachel goes to him and consoles him. Donna
immediately is on the attack and wants to know why she wasn''t
advised of the presence of her grandchildren. Rachel tells her
that they are upstairs and go to them. Rachel sends Matt to the
kitchen to get a drink.

Carl goes on the balcony and talks to Rapheal. Raphael asks if
Carl knows who killed Blair. Carl says, must have been a snake
charmer.

Gary finds out that Michael's phone is off the hook and Felicia
leaves for the farm.

Lorna approaches Gabe and comments on how hard this must be. All
of the officers are getting together for a candlelight vigil. How
much more of this can you take, she asks, after losing her wfie and
child. He tells her that he isn't think about that right now. She
leaves. Chris enters.

Meanwhile back in surgery, the blood bank is only has one unit of
blood left. John tells them that they need Charlene, she has the
same blood type as Josie.

Gary approaches Rita and asks if there is any news. Rita tells him
that John is the finest surgen there is, she will be fine. John
enters and tells Rita that they need to find Charlene, she is the
only one who can help now, they are the same blood type. Even if
Charlene shows up in time, it will be a miricle if she lives, he
says.

Maggie is preparing for Nick, spraying herself liberally with
perfume. She is wearing a slinky nightgown. He rings the door.

As he comes in the door, he asks what that smell is and she tells
him that Charlie spilled some prefume. He tells her that it is
making his eyees sting. They sit down to chat, but all Nick wants
to talk about is Sophia. They talk about Sophia. Maggie tells him
that Sophia is looking for long-term committment. Maggie
encourages him to get more confortable, but he tells her that he is
heading for Sassy's to catch up with Raphael. She offers to go
with him, he tells her to stay home, and points out that he
wouldn't want her to waste any more perfusme.

Carl gives Raphael his money for the job. He asks why he is
getting so much money, especially since he lost so much money to
Blair. Raphael questions Carl as to what would have happened to
all that money. Carl says that someone probably picked it up.

Raphael wonders if there wasn't someone else there. Raphael says
that he doesn't want to know anything about it. Carl takes a piece
of paper out of his pocket and burns Blair's fake Id.

Gary goes into the chapel and prays for Josie. He asks God to
spare her. John enters the OR and tells them that they can't reach
Charlene. They find another bleeder and are out of blood. Gary
continues to pray. Josie is in big trouble. Gary promises to do
anything if He just lets her live.

Matt is still talking with Rachel. I thought that I knew Blair,
Matt comments. He talks about how he really didn't know her at
all. He tells her that he never should have punished her the way
that he did. What do you mean, qquestions his mother.

Chris is still trying to find out the details of the shooting from
Gabe. He asks Gabe to tell him the truth because he is starting to
smell a coverup. Gabe is not willing to tell him anything. Gabe
tells him that he remembers what he was like in Boston. Chris
tells him that he is not like some of those other reporters (the
ones who cross the line). Lorna enters and encourages Chris to
leave, which he does. Lorna makes another pitch to Gabe to get
back together. He agrees to give it another try. Rita enters and
asks if Felicia has found Charlene yet. Turns out that she just
came from teh OR and they are running out of time.

Meanwhile, Felicia gets to the farm. After no one answers the
door, she goes on in. After looking around downstairs, she
scribbles a note to Michael asking him to tell Charlene. On her
way out, she sees Charlene's scarf. She looks up the stairs.

Matt can't even imagine what Charlene is going through and it is
all his fault. Rachel says that she dosn't see how. I killed her,
he says, and runs out.

Gary is in the chapel, praying, with his fellow police officers
around him.

Josie is still in surgery. Fax finds the bullet and, in his hurry,
cuts his hand and John has to take over the surgery. He asks to be
hooked into an IV, so that he can get some fluid into himself and
be well enough to carry on the surgery. Josie crashes again.

Courtney starts CPR. Josie leaves her body, asking for Gary.

Felicia goes upstairs and hears laughter from a bedroom. She walks
in on Michael and Charlene in bed. Felicia, says Michael. She
turns away. Freeze Frame.

Have a nice day!

Dianne
