Here's a short update for 4/2/96.....

JAKE/CHRIS/NICK/TOMAS

At Sassy's, Nick is trying to persuade Tomas to join in his scheme to
deceive
Joe by getting another guy to pretend to date Sophia. Tomas refuses to
be

the guy, telling Nick he wants nothing to do with the scheme. At
another

table, Chris and Jake are swapping complaints about how they both work

long hours at the Herald. Jake drops a hint that he is waiting for
someone
to come back to town, and Chris asks if he has a new lady. Jake
(obviously
thinking of Vicky) says no, she's just his best friend. Chris advises
Jake
that a smart man never sleeps with his best friend.....

CARL/RAPHAEL

Carl and Raphael are plotting together; Carl has a another Job for
Raphael
to do. Raphael protests that it's crazy, and he could be seriously
hurt or
even killed. Nonsense, says Carl, you'll be fine as long as you wear
the

leather gloves, as he hands Raphael a mysterious looking sack. "She's
in

room 465", Carl tells Raphael.....

GABE/LORNA/FAX

Gabe is still in Boston; he calls Lorna at the hospital. Her
answering

machine picks up, but Lorna is right there, listening as Gabe says he's

already called her home several times. "I miss you", says Gabe, as
Lorna
sarcastically talks back to the machine, remarking on how Gabe probably
just
had his ex-wife in his arms. As the message ends, Fax comes in and
hears
Lorna harranguing the machine. He's there because Rita thinks his
experience
with infectious diseases could be a publicity boost for the hospital.
Lorna
initially wants to save the meeting for another time, but then she
reconsiders
and asks Fax out to dinner. They go to Sassy's, but Lorna is
distracted and
cuts the dinner short. Fax leaves for the hospital, and Lorna stays.

SOPHIA/TOMAS

Sophia burns her hand in the restaurant kitchen, while she's busy
daydreaming
about Nick. Nick calls and says he misses her. Later, she runs into
Tomas
in front of the restaurant; he spots her injured hand and convinces
her to

go to the hospital and get it checked out. While they are there, a
young
Hispanic woman and her child come in. Fax gets Tomas to translate,
while
Sophia cheers up the little girl. After the patient leaves, Tomas and
Sophia
talk a bit about children, especially how hard it must be for Tomas,
with work,
school and single parenthood. Tomas tells Sophia she's good with kids,
and

she should come over and play with Luisa sometime. Sophia says she
loves kids.

A COBRA FOR A COBRA (MATT/BLAIR)

Still necking fast and furiously, Matt and Blair make it back to her
hotel

room. The number on the door is 465. They go in and make straight for
the
bed, while outside, Raphael shows up with a room service cart. He
knocks
on the door and beats a hasty retreat. Matt goes and opens the door,
and

brings the cart inside. He compliments Blair on having thought of
everything,
but she says she didn't order room service. When Matt lifts the cover
off

the dish, there's a cobra coiled on the plate. They both freak, but
Matt

tries to get Blair to calm down enough to dial 911. Matt waits until
the

snake slithers into the other room, then quickly shuts the doors. A
police
officer shows up and questions them both after hotel management has
removed
the snake. The cop asks Blair if she knows who did this, and she says
she
has no idea. There was a piece of paper on the room service cart with
Blair's
name and address written on it, and after the officer leaves she tells
Matt
that she recognized the handwriting: It's Gary Sinclair's, she
says....

JAKE/LORNA/CARL/RAPHAEL

Carl and Raphael meet later at Sassy's; Carl gives Raphael a handsome
cash
reward for his trouble. Raphael wants to know why Carl sent the
poisonous
snake to Blair. It's his responsibility to protect everyone in
Rachel's

family, including Matt, from dangerous people, Carl says, whatever it
takes.
Steadily drinking cognac, Carl tells Raphael that
he could learn a lot from the Master. Fine with him, says Raphael, why
not
let school start now? Carl tells Raphael to never fall in love, it can

imprison and destroy you.....Meanwhile, Jake sees Lorna sitting alone
and

comes over to her table. They commiserate about their separate woes,
Lorna
about Gabe, Jake about how much grief he gets over running the Herald
his
way. Respect is what they both want, they conclude. A little later,
outside
the hospital, Jake tries to cheer Lorna up inviting her to go dancing,
but
she isn't in the mood, in fact she is in tears thinking about Gabe.
Jake
tries to reassure her by telling her things will look better in the
morning.
After they part ways, Jake takes out a picture of Vicky from his pocket
and
looks at it, while off by herself, Lorna takes out her photograph of
Gabe,
and after looking at it one last time, tears it up and throws it into a
trash
can. In Lorna's empty office, yet another call comes from Gabe. As he
holds
a child's drawing with the words "To Daddy" on it, Gabe leaves another
message
wondering where Lorna is.....

JOSIE/GARY

Josie comes back to the apartment while Gary is still there. She tells
him
that she can't stay away, and that after her talk with her mother she
realized
that they have to talk and work out their problems. Josie tells Gary
that she
is very upset that he lied to her, and Gary says he's sorry. She asks
him

about his relationship with Blair; he says that he only thought he was
in

love, he sort of talked himself into believing it, but in truth he's
never

loved anyone the way he loves Josie. Gary asks her if they're still
going
to get married, but she doesn't answer right away. Later, they go to
Sassy's.
While they are dancing, they talk about how glad they are to be
together, and
Josie tells Gary that yes, she will still marry him....

NICK/TOMAS

Tomas comes back to Sassy's; Nick is still sitting at the same table.
Tomas
tells Nick that he's reconsidered -- he will indeed date Sophia to help
their
plan. Nick is ecstatic.

My special wish list for "Another World": (A) Josie arrests John
and
Felicia for felonious inducement of nausea; (B) Grant shoots Joe,
Rita, Tomas
and Anthony, and gets a special pardon from the viewers; (C) Cass,
Frankie and
Cecile team up for a caper to solve the Mystery of the Missing Plot
Coherence,
and (D) Carl, Rachel, Donna and Gabe are all on 5 days a week! :-)
