>Hi all! Here's what happened on Thursday:
>
>AT THE CORY'S:
>
>Carl voices that he wants to share in planning the birth of their
child...Rachel replies that she has no
>intention of shutting him out. He suggests a room that receives a lot of
sunlight for the baby's room,
>Rachel agrees and talks about lacking baby clothes and furniture. Carl
asks if he can go shopping with
>her - she thinks it would be a good idea and they share a kiss. Matt
enters the room and Carl leaves.
>Rachel tells Matt that he is more like Matt every day, and notes how he
brought integrity back to the
>Herald. Matt says she has never told him that before. She notes that Matt
has had trouble with love
>over the past few years, citing both Blair and Donna. Matt questions what
message Rachel is trying to
>send - Rachel points out that she didn't interfere in his relationships
even though she did not approve
>of them, and Matt should stay out of her maggiage with Carl, b/c it is a
private affair in which only
>they can work out the problems. Matt asks what has changed since she
kicked Carl out, and states that
>Carl is a violent man with a violent past. Rachel replies that she is
carrying his baby and insists
>that she kicked Carl out to show how serious she was and to see if she
could live without him, and she
>can't b/c she loves him. She tries to tell Matt that Carl hasn't had the
fortunes that they have had
>as a family, but Matt refuses to give Carl any pity. Matt thinks bringing
Carl back into the family
>will be disruptive, citing that Rachel does things when Carl is in her life
that she wouldn't
>ordinarily do. Rachel indicates that she wants to see the world through
Carl's eyes b/c it will
>stretch her as a person and allow her to understand Carl better. Matt
leaves and some time passes
>before Carl returns. Rachel is ecstatic when she sees that Carl has
purchased an exquisite cradle for
>the baby. She is pleased and asks if the baby's father will be at peace.
Carl hopes so, with Rachel's
>help. Rachel states that she will help him, and they kiss.

>At the NEW APT:
>
>Sophia and Nick are at Sophia and Emily's new place. Nick asks how Joe
feels about her moving out, and
>she replies that he is not thrilled but is coming around. He then asks if
she has told Matt about the
>new place, and she replies that she hasn't had time given that Emily
insisted that she rush right over
>to secure the place before they lost it to another renter. Someone buzzes
the apt and Nick rushes
>downstairs. While he is gone, Sophia daydreams about her and Nick living
together and Nick greeting
>her in the morning with breakfast, which in this dream turns out to be
cheeseburgers. Nick returns and
>Sophia snaps out of her daze, only to be stunned by the coincidence that
the food Nick had ordered and
>picked up is cheeseburgers. As they eat, Nick mentions that he is dating
Emily, and asks if that makes
>Sophia uncomfotable given that they are now roommates. Sophia says no and
then starts talking about
>their taking care of Kirkland and Stephen. Nick leaves to call Emily and
Sophia drops back into
>daydream land. Nick comes back, unsuccessful at getting a hold of Emily.
He is gathering up the
>dishes when their hands touch. Unable to deal, Sophia runs into the
kitchen after saying, "I can't do
>this!" Moments later, an excited Emily comes in stating that she has put
down 2 months of rent and a
>security deposit and moves about the apt ranting about its various
features. Sophia stares hopelessly at
>Nick.

>At PAULINA and JOE'S PLACE:
>
>Paulina tells Joe that she feels their home has a lot of Joe's mother Rose
in it, and is not quite
>their own (reminder: they are living in the house where Joe grew up).
Pauilna mentions that any extra
>money that they have could be used to establish a college fund for Dante or
to repair the roof at
>Carlino's. Joe suggests that Paulina spend some cash making the place more
like she wants it. The
>phone rings - it is some lowlife named Schneider - and Joe gets upset that
he is called at home. Joe
>leaves for the restaurant and we see a mysterious person, who is holding a
brown enveloped addressed to
>Joe, ring the doorbell. Paulina answers the door - it is Neil delivering
Joe's new captain's badge.
>Neil apologizes for the lack of ceremony, but given Gabe's death...
Paulina offers Neil a cup of
>expresso and Neil asks about how they are handling the pressures of Joe's
new job. Neil comforts
>Paulina by saying they he has talked to many police officer spouses.
Paulina tells fo the reality of
>the deaths of 2 police captains and knowing the women they left behind.
She confides that she most
>fears that Joe won't tell her when he is really in trouble. Neil offers to
let her know when something
>is going down. He then stares at her for a minute. When Paulina inquires,
he apologizes ans says that
>for a brief moment, the way her head was tilted, etc., she reminded him of
a statue of the madonna that
>he used to stare at when he was a kid at church. [This couldn't have been
a more pathetic and
>far-fetched exchange in an otherwise interesting segment!] Paulina blushes
and Joe walks in, jokingly
>stating that he can't leave Paulina for a minute. Paulina explains that
Neil brought by Joe's new
>badge and says how proud she is of him. She tells him that she should
trust more that he will always
>do what is best, and Joe tells her that she is the heart of their family.

>MICHAEL and DONNA:
>
>Michael and Donna are sitting in front of the fire and Michael is
chastising her about getting Sharlene
>out of the house for the evening. Donna asks why Michael plays hard to get
- Michael responds, "b/c I
>am". Donna continues that they were so close when Vicky was missing, and
that she was led to believe
>that he wanted to resume a relationship with her. Michael says he did, but
then Donna goes off and
>disappoints him and is manipulative. Donna points out that Michael never
puts an effort into their
>relationship - it is always her trying to get them together or believing
they belong together. Donna
>seriously feels taken for granted and vows that Michael will have to beg
her to come back to this
>house. "You promise?", Michael replies. Donna is infuriated and says that
no one will love Michael
>like her. He replies that he has always loved her and will always love
her, but something always gets
>in the way...they both point to the other as that "something". Donna
storms out of the house saying
>that Michael will regret this!!
>
>
>That's it!!
