Just from memory...

As Sofia and Tom'as watch, Joe tries to arrest Jake at Carlino's.
Jake just laughs it off, like Joe's usual hassling, but Joe makes it clear
he's serious, you're being charged w/ the murders of Vicky Hudson & Bobby
Reno. Paulina goes ballistic, chews Joe out royally. Joe says he has no
choice, but relents about dragging Jake across the street to the station
house in cuffs - until Jake calls him an idiot, so the cuffs go back on.
Paulina scrambles to call Cass, as Tom'as squirms and Sofia reassures him
it's not his fault, he did the right thing in squealing to the cops (about
seeing Jake crawl out from under Bobby's truck the day they disappeared).

Dr. Forsythe comes to the station house ranting about his missing
Beemer, demanding to see Gabe. They usher him in, and Gabe starts to
question him about how he lied about only taking his car in to this shady
repair place once, when they had records he'd been there multiple times.
Joe comes in w/ Jake (in cuffs), Jake is livid about being arrested,
why aren't you out looking for Grant, the real killer? Paulina rushes in,
as they lock up Jake she tells him she was unable to reach Cass, she
looked in the Yellow Pages under "Attorneys" and called the first "A" who
answered, so Jake would at least have someone in his corner. She
continues ranting at Joe for this ridiculous accusation, when he won't
tell her anything she demands to see Gabe. Joe tries to prevent her, but
she bursts past him and cools her jets in Gabe's doorway while Gabe
finishes w/ Forsythe; Forsythe senses he's in real trouble, and demands to
see his attorney before further questioning. He exits, and Paulina
enters, repeating her tirade about the absurdity of accusing Jake of
killing Vicky, what's this mysterious "evidence" you claim to have?? Joe
is hard-line, but Gabe says Paulina's your wife and a close friend of the
suspect - bend the rules and tell her what we have on him. Gabe exits.
Joe outlines all the bomb-making stuff they found in Jake's apartment;
that's ridiculous, says Paulina, Jake wouldn't know how to make a bomb, he
needed help just to connect his answering machine! She is unable to
persuade Joe he's made a mistake; Joe warns her not to spill any of this
to Jake.

Jake's "lawyer" shows up, also happens to be Forsythe's lawyer.
Every time Paulina tries to drag him over to talk w/ Jake, Forsythe drags
him back, carping about the big bucks I pay to you handle my legal needs.
The shyster whispers something about insurance fraud being a serious
charge, you could lose your medical licence (like this isn't a big
surprise about his client); I'll be right back, he says. He goes to talk
w/ Jake in the cell as Joe observes, keeps mentioning handling their
divorce needs, will this case have a lot of headlines, etc. He admits
this would be his first actual murder case (although he'd had one in law
school in moot court, which he'd won), but he's willing to give it a try.
Joe takes Jake & lawyer to the interrogation room, starts asking questions
about why Jake would do this to Vicky. Joe asks a few improper questions,
Jake asks his lawyer shouldn't you be objecting to this? Do you want me
to? asks the lawyer. He finally admits he's in way over his head, and
leaves. Joe wants to end the questioning here, but Jake wants to spill
his guts, he has nothing to hide. Joe asks him about the bomb materials,
which Jake denies; also threatening Bobby publicly, if you couldn't have
Vicky then no one could, etc. Joe finally takes him back to his cell,
Paulina swears to track down Cass. Amanda comes in to cover the arrest
for the Herald, doesn't know who the suspect is, and is amazed to hear
it's Jake. Paulina begs her to help find Cass and try to figure out what's
going on, but Amanda seems more interested in getting an interview.
Later, Jake is spilling his guts to his cellmate about how much he loved
Vicky from the time they were 4, and how lost he'll be without her. An
arm thrusts through the bars, it's Amanda, shoving a tape recorder under
Jake's nose and asking for the real story, why'd you do it?
Paulina storms out, w/ Joe at her heels. He catches up w/ her at
Carlino's, they have a loud argument. Joe is upset that she would show
him up in front of his captain & co-workers; Paulina is upset that he
wouldn't take her word that Jake is innocent, evidence notwithstanding.
He walks out, she chases him down outside and he finally explodes that
she's taking Jake's word over his. She repeats that no amount of evidence
could convince her Jake would kill anyone, especially Vicky, and this
causes a real rift w/ Joe. Sorry, she says, I believe you, but I gotta go
with my gut on this, and my gut tells me Jake couldn't do it. [But does
Joe consider the obvious alternative, like who has the resources, cunning
and motive to falsify such elaborate evidence? NooOOOOOOooooo...] Let
Jake go, and go out and nail Grant, she insists. Don't EVER tell me how
to do my job, he shouts, storming off.

Josie, disguised as Lorna, as taken her place in Lorna's hospital
room to act as bait for Cindy. Felicia visits w/ her to perpetuate the
illusion that it's still Lorna, and they have a nice conversation about
how Felicia would do anything to protect her daughter, just like Sharlene
would. Josie admits she was furious about Felicia moving in to the
farmhouse, but you've really done some good there, helped keep my mom
focused on her recovery. Felicia says she knows Josie blames her for
breaking up John and Sharlene's marriage; we've all learned to deal w/
that, says Josie, except maybe Gregory, but even he doesn't actually hate
you anymore.
Gary comes by to see Josie, surprised and pleased to see Felicia and
Josie actually getting along. Felicia leaves, and Gary visits w/ Josie,
telling her about Jake being arrested for Vicky's murder. They both
agree, it's highly unlikely he's guilty, more likely it's Grant. Later
Gary mentions to Gabe he and Josie think there's something fishy about all
the evidence pointing to Jake. Here we go again, sighs Gabe.

Meanwhile, Grant has found Cindy in her hidey-hole. Cindy seems to
be hinting that she believed Gabe's on-air plea for her to come in,
nothing bad would happen to her. It's just a trap, they have an APB out
on you, warns Grant. Any trap of Gabe's would be better than taking her
chances w/ Grant, she tells him. Gabe reminds her of the dirty secret she
has to hide from Gabe, notices she's got her pill bottle, and urges her to
take as many as she needs to calm down, pouring half a bottle out into her
hand. You want me to commit suicide, she murmurs emotionlessly. Oh, no,
he says you're right, this is too many pills. He puts them all back in
the bottle except 2, gives her some water and insists she take them, the
same prescription she had after her sister and nephew died in that fire...
He also comments how Lorna was almost killed in a fire - coincidence, I
think not. It was an accident, Cindy insists, but Grant points out that,
accident or not, she climbed out the window when the fire started and made
no attempt to notify anyone that Lorna was in danger, she could be charged
w/ willful neglect and reckless disregard, both felonies. Cindy secretly
pops 2 more pills, which Grant sees. He pretends to comfort and calm her,
until she collapses in his arms in a drug-induced stupor. Now, on to what
I really want, sneers Grant.

At Vicky's house, Michael and Etta Mae are trying to comfort Donna in
her distress over the news about Vicky. Not only are Bobby and Vicky
presumed dead - but there's just been an arrest - it was Jake! Donna and
Etta Mae also think there's something about this that doesn't ring true,
it's more likely Grant was responsible. Etta Mae goes to the police
station, ostensibly to see her daughter the cop, but really she wants to
pick up whatever she can about Jake's arrest. She talks to him in the
cell and assures him she and the Hudsons don't believe he's guilty,
they'll get him out of this.
Sharlene has suggested that the children should go stay at the
farmhouse for the time being, Gregory would love it, so Michael is about
to leave to pick up the kids, and Donna, distraught, walks him out. When
they get to the door and walk out on the porch they are met by Grant with
a big bouquet of flowers. He supposedly wants to offer his condolences,
but Donna and Michael don't buy a word of it and try to browbeat him into
leaving. Grant says he wants to be the one to break the news to Kirk
about his mother's death; Donna steadfastly insists they have no proof
Vicky is even dead, she refuses to believe it without a body or traces.

Out in the woods, Bobby has stepped into a bear trap by a stream, and
is yelling in agony. As he is trying to extricate himself, he glances in
the stream and notices something floating towards him, he reaches in and
snags it as it drifts by, it's Vicky's sweat band. Aha, he thinks, she's
nearby. He gimps his way through the woods, calling toward her, until he
finds where she's clambered up the slope to the foot of a tree. Although
she's answered his call, by the time he gets there she's asleep or
unconscious. So, lame though he is, he picks her up to carry her to
safety. FREEZE FRAME.

That's what I remember,

Vicky (vkorosei@sinclair.edu)
