>POLICE STATION:
>Gary finds out that Josie's backup is out sick with the flu and argues with
Joe that he wants to be Josie's backup. Joe denies his request, and Josie
tells Gary that he will be fine on her own, that she is just going out to
get some names and meet some people. During this argument, the doctor guy
who had his car stolen months ago [now ask yourself: if your car got stolen
that long ago wouldn't you have come into the police station a long time
ago?] comes by and says he has a new lead in the case. Gary tells the guy
to wait a few minutes and continues to argue with Josie. She leaves. Joe
tells Gary not to worry, that she will be fine. Later, Gary gets a call
from Carl (see details below). Before he leaves to meet Carl, Gary gives
Joe the file about the stolen Beemer and tells Joe that it has been lost
longer than D B Cooper. [Someone explain this ref to me??] After his
meeting with Carl, Gary returns to the police station. Joe tells Gabe that
the doctor guy said a week before his Beemer was stolen he took it to a
mechanic he had never been to before. The guy who owns the shop is called
Grease Snyder, and he has a rap sheet as long as your arm. Gabe tells him
to check it out. [Question: what is with this story line anyway? Is this
their way of exiting Gabe and/or Lorna?] Josie comes back from her stroll
on the docks and says she made some contacts and was able to get some
information. Gary says he is OK with her assignment as long as she is
careful, has backup, and returns to him all in one piece at the end of the day.

>JAKE'S PENTHOUSE:
>Jake gets off Amanda, that she is the last person he wants to put the moves
on. Amanda says she has to go to a meeting. They argue about their past
working relationship and about Amanda's ability to judge Jake (after all,
she did marry Grant, so what does that say about her judgement?) Amanda
says Jake should be paying more attention to The Herald, but he says he
doesn't care about the paper or the reading public, the only person he cares
about is Vicky. Amanda continues to argue with him and finally blurts out
that some people leave and never come back. [LOW BLOW!] Amanda tells Jake
that he is being foolish guzzling vodka in the afternoon waiting for Vicky
to call. He retorts that it helps him "keep the faith." He accuses her of
being a cold woman who has a pretty face and uses harsh words and rants
about how she has been dumped by everyone she has ever been with. She tells
him that he is right: she was dumped and decided to face it, which is why
she came back to Bay City. Jake bets Amanda $1000 in pennies and dinner at
the Harbor Club that she will end up in another disasterous relationship
[with Jake, maybe??] in six month's time. Amanda suggests that Jake take a
page out of Buster's book: he doesn't need a cute blond girl turtle to have
a good time. He rehashes her failed relationships (Sam, Grant, and two
rounds with Evan). Amanda retorts that she will give Joe a kiss the next
time she sees him for saving Paulina from Jake's hell and says the Vicky was
smarter than Amanda gave her credit for turning Jake down. She leaves.

>HARBOR CLUB:
>Rachel sits at a table taking some pills. Carl watches her. He calls Gary
and asks him to come to the club. Gary comments that he is "tired of
playing flunkie to you, rich and arrogant" and tells Carl that he better
have something good or "six of your friends will be carrying you." Later on
William brings a snifter of brandy over to Rachel and reads her a poem.
Rachel compliments William on his performance but tells him she is far too
occupied with the man who put him up to the task. She admonishes William to
say no next time no matter how big a tip Carl promises him. She returns the
brandy to William's tray, saying that she is drinking only water today.
Matt and Paulina rush in and want to know what is wrong. She tells them
nothing is wrong, she just needed them to get together to discuss some
changes she is making in her life and to reassure them that she is all fine.
They wait for Amanda to arrive. Gary meets Carl, and the two men quibble
that they are not on the same side: Carl thinks Gary is a fool for going
into Grant's without a warrant and leaving the security system off, and Gary
concludes Carl is the culprit who broke into Grant's safe. Carl remarks
that as long as they don't operate on the same side, Grant wins. Gary says
he will stop Grant. Matt demands to know whether Rachel is going to divorce
Carl, and Paulina tells him to back off. Rachel says she has no intention
of divorcing Carl and excuses herself to call Amanda. Matt and Paulina
argue some more over Rachel and Carl. [Same argument, different day.] Carl
tells Gary he respected only one cop: his son, Ryan. Gary realizes that
Carl wants to protect Vicky and her kids, but Grant will burn for what he
and Cody did to Josie, so Gary is going to cover all the loopholes. On
hearing her daughter's name, Donna rushes over and asks why they are talking
about Vicky. Gary quickly says they were talking about how Vicky made a
donation to the Ryan Harrison Fund. Donna says she has never heard of it,
and Carl quickly adds that it's for children of slain officers. Donna
smiles and says Vicky keeps on making Ryan proud of her. "That is real love
for you," Donna says and leaves. Before Rachel can return to Matt and
Paulina, Carl confronts Rachel about her pill taking. She says they are
vitamins because she is anemic and asks him to leave her alone. She goes
back to the table, and Carl whispers to himself that he won't leave her be
until he finds out what he is keeping from him. He sneaks off to break into
John's office and look at Rachel's file which John locked in his desk
drawer. He returns to the club a while later. Amanda joins the others.
Matt comments that it must be hard for Amanda to come into the club because
of who owns it. Amanda replies that she pretends Grant does not exist, and
that is exactly what she should do about Carl. The conversation quickly
becomes an argument about Carl. Matt insists that Carl has to be thrown out
of Cory because he is no longer family since Rachel threw him out of the
house and, after Amanda says she cannot work 18 hour days at Cory because of
a New Year's resolution she made to Ally to spend more time together,
suggests that Rachel should take over as head of the board. Amanda agrees.
Paulina opens her mouth to say something, and Matt tells her not to defend
Carl, that everyone's life isn't a fantasy like her life with Joe. She
quips that she inherited the "sappy gene" [*lol*] and says that they should
listen to what Rachel wants. Rachel says she doesn't want to oust Carl,
that it is not the right time in her life to take over Cory, but reluctantly
agrees. She asks them not to tell Carl, that she will tell him in her own
time and in her own way. She departs, unknowingly passing Carl in the hall
on her way out. Later, Donna and Carl talk. Donna sees Rachel as cold
cause she kicked Carl out. Carl attempts to tell Donna politely that it is
none of her business. Donna says when two people belong together, they
belong together. Stop wasting time, but then again no one ever listens to
Donna. Carl tells Donna that he does listen to her. Donna concludes Rachel
needs some time at a spa. She inquires after Rachel's illness, and Carl
says the doctors don't think it is serious. Donna tells Carl that she has
decided to buy the Harbor Club, and Carl congratulates her. Carl warns her
not to let Grant get too close to the boys until Vicky comes home

>VICKY'S HOUSE:
>Jake goes to put a note under Vicky's knocker instructing her to call as
soon as she gets in no matter how late that is. He slams down the knocker
and stuffs the note in his pocket. He sits on the steps and waits. He
tells himself that Amanda is wrong, that Vicky will come back to him. [You
are in for a long sit, Jake.]

>THEIR OWN LITTLE PIECE OF HEAVEN:
>While Vicky's body lies unconscious in the ravine, he spirit wanders into
the bright light. Vicky looks around. Everything is amazing and beautiful
to her. There are columns and steps and a mural of angels and a fountain
with a flame coming out of it and a little piece of sky with poofy clouds.
She looks at her clothes and finds she is dressed in white, as is Ryan. She
comments that the place looks like a little piece of heaven. Exactly, Ryan
murmurs. She says she feels happy and peaceful. She asks him to kiss her
and he obliges her. She tells him the first time he kissed her, she felt a
jolt. "My renowned personality," he tells her. She says the jolt was like
a current from his heart to hers. She tells him that she dreams about him,
but that this is much more real. She asks him if she will wake up from this
experience. Ryan reassures her that she isnt going to wake up. She asks
him to hold her tight and tells him the story about how she used to wake up
with feathers everywhere cause she squeezed the life out of her pillows when
she dreamed about him. Ryan muses he must be the first guy who got jealous
of a pillow and says that he remembers how Vic and Bridget both squeezed
pillows to death when they were stressed out. On hearing Bridget's name,
Vic starts looking for her nursemaid, but Bridget does not appear. Ryan
tells Vicky that he didn't want to leave her, that she kept pulling him
back. She tells him that seeing him face to face is better than any fantasy
she ever had of going to Rome or Paris; we lived the fantasy, she says. He
tells her that looking at her face and her smile is what happiness is to
him. She tells him she only has one regret: she never got the chance to
marry the only man she ever loved. [*WHIMPER*] Bridget's chimes go off.
Ryan insists Vicky is his wife in every way that matters. They came so
close, she says, and then she ruined it by marrying Grant; she says she
thought she could never live up to Ryan's expectations of her. Ryan says
she thought he would find out he wasn't the saint she thought he was. They
wasted so much time, but they had a lot to teach each other: what love is.
Vicky says their chance to say their vows before God was taken from them,
and she still wants to be Mrs. Ryan Harrison. They kiss three times, and
when they look at each other again, their clothes have changed slightly.
Ryan is now wearing a white jacket and Vicky is wearing a nice simple veil
with a train that flows down the steps they are standing on. My bride, Ryan
gasps. He picks up a bouquet of dried flowers and hands them to Vicky.
They look at each other and conclude that this was Bridget's doing. Vicky
proposes to Ryan. I thought you'd never ask, Ryan replies. Ryan turns to
Vicky and admits his faults: he pushed her away, he lived a lie and did not
forgive the woman he loved. He says they should be thankful for the gifts
they have. A heavenly version of the wedding march plays. Ryan appears
near the bottom of the steps and beckons Vicky to come down the stairs.
"There's a place for us" as she descends the stairs. When she reaches him,
"One hand, one heart" plays. They turn to each other and start to speak
their vows. Vicky says that she has said wedding vows before, but before
now she didn't know what they truly meant. To love: that's so huge, she
says, and we make it so small (through overuse). Even when she fell in love
with Ryan, she didn't know just how big the commitment was. Everyday she
was with him, she learned the meaning of love, about giving and giving until
she forgot about herself. It's about not knowing where he ends and she
begins, about one being strong so the other can be weak, she says; it's
about one soul and one heart and one life. Ryan says they know that, and it
is an incredible gift. Vicky gives her love to Ryan forever: not even death
can part them now. [*SIGH* *SOB*] Ryan says he wants to remember this
moment until the end of time. As if I'd let you forget, Vicky chides. She
asks him to pledge his love to her because she cannot wait to be Mrs. Ryan
Harrison. Ryan tells Vicky that she is freedom to him; she opened up his
life for him. He comments how he was always preaching ethics to her, but
all along his soul was cheering her on. Vicky tells him that he was about
truth and she was about bending it, but his love made her a better person.
He tells her that her love is more powerful than she knows. The place they
are in exists because of their love for each other. Ryan tells her that he
is hers forever if she will have him: love without end. They hold each
other. "I know that this is love" plays as they dance together. She wishes
she had a ring for him, but he tells her that they are way beyond rings.
She asks him to kiss the bride. He does, and a shower of sparkly silver
snow starts to fall. They continue to hug and dance and kiss. Ryan twirls
Vicky around in his arms. FREEZE FRAME
