CECILE AT IT AGAIN!!

Rachel loans Cecile the $1M. Gabe tells Cecile that she must keep the

kidnapper on the phone so that the police can trace the phone number
and

location. Gabe guarantees that the kidnapper will be prosecuted to the

fullest extent of the law. Back at the cabin, Rafael leaves to make
the

phone call. He demands that Cecile meet him alone at Bear Creek with
the

moolah, and hangs up. Joe announces that there was a block on the
phone,

so the police couldn't trace the number. Cecile questions what the

police will do next. Gabe explains that they will be setting up

surveillance around Bear Creek, and they will booby trap the briefcase

with the $$ so that the kidnapper will be covered with permanent dye
when

it is opened. Cecile gets nervous and jittery about the thought of

losing the money. She starts a charade about how they should just let

the kidnapper have the money - just a tax write off for Rachel - so
that

Maggie will be protected. She tries to "fire" the police dept, saying

that she will handle it herself - that their services are no longer

required. Frankie points out that she can't fire the police like she

could her manicurist!! Ha ha!! Cecile leaves the room crying that the

police don't care about her daughter! Cass follows her out and tells
her

that she can stop pretending, he knows what she is up to. He continues

to tell her that he is proud of her - caring for someone other than

herself, wanting to make up with Maggie. Cecile replies that she has

always been transparent to Cass (ha!!). Cass reassures her that
nothing

will go wrong with the police's plan. Cecile confesses that she would

never do anything to intentionally hurt Mags. Cass wonders where that

came from. Cass leaves for the hospital to get a release form signed
by

Rachel, and Cecile sneaks out in an attempt to stop Rafael.

MICHAEL/JOHN:

Michael tells John to stop acting like a jerk. He goes on to remind
John

that Sharlene sold the house (which she packed up by herself) to help
pay

off his debt. John admits thatit is no that he doesn't love Sharlene,

it has just become too complicated. Michael asks if it is b/c of

Felicia. John tries to explain that it just happened - he was hurting
and

Felicia, as a friend, was there. Michael reminds John that Sharlene is

one in a million, and that they have a great son, and asks if he is
ready

to throw that all away. John admits having feelings for Felicia, not

like those he has for Sharlene (ie. he loves Sharlene). Michael warns

him that he will regret this - and admits that he has felt that he has

really blown things by breaking up with Donna. Their voices rise and

Michael tells John that he is going to lose his entire family unless he

makes the move to rectify his marriage. Hearing the noise, Rita bursts

in and demands to know what is going on. She warns John that he better

find a place to live soon as she will not tolerate anything happening
to

the hospital.

MORGAN/COURTNEY:

Morgan and Courtney visit the pediatric ward after visiting with an
older

patient of Morgan's who is terminally ill. Courtney tells Morgan about

her therapy session, and how much she looks forward to going back to
his

apartment - she isn't scared of going home anymore. They talk about

taking their relationship slow.

Cass bumps into Courtney and asks for a truce. She accepts and he asks

about Morgan. Courtney tells him that her engagement is off, and that

her and Morgan are living together. Just as Cass is about to leave,

Courtney asks him to wait, and lures Morgan out to where Cass is.
Morgan

chews Cass out for making Courtney do his dirty work. Cass says that

Morgan was missed at Xmas, and they launch into words about Cass

accepting Laurie Michael's case, despite Morgan's encouragement b/c he

"didn't really believe Cass would take the case". They argue about
their

childhood, and how Morgan defended their mother - Cass claiming to be
the

black sheep of the family. Morgan tells Cass to take off, and Cass

leaves saying that he doesn't have a brother. Looking on, Michael
rushes

back to John's office.

MICHAEL/JOHN:
Michael wants to understand what John is going through, and asks John
if

talking about it would help. John admits to feeling like he is losing

his grip - hurting all the people he loves. He continues by saying
that

he feels like he is back in 'Nam with loss, after loss, after loss (Ben

Michaels, his malpractice insurance, the farm, now his family). John

breaks down, saying that he is scared - feeling like a kids who is

running away from mines. Michael says that the 1st thing that John

should do is heal himself. John doesn't know how, but Michael says
trial

and error always works. He assures John that no matter what, they are

still brothers and he will be there every step of the way (regardless
of

the decisions that John makes). They hug.

ENDING:

Rafael is about to leave when Mags asks that he loosen her tied hands.

He does so, and hears a knock at the door. Outside, he finds Cecile,
who

tries to talk his out of continuing with the plan. He refuses. The
show

ends with Mags hearing the voices and asking aloud, "Mother?".
